  1. +1 I couldn't have put it better myself. Her images were a bit over-contrasty for my taste but otherwise it was great. It was in focus, smooth & she got the right shots. I haven't shot a wedding in five years but I would have been perfectly happy to deliver video like that to my clients. @jonpais has clearly never shot a wedding nether does he any appreciation of how a wedding is shot. An assistant with a diffuser or reflector? Are you kidding? ND filters? Just crank up the shutter speed. You are shooting a live event there are no re-takes & if you miss a shot like the first kiss or the ring shot you are stuffed. Good for her! She is making money & giving her clients what they want. She doesn't need to care about some amateur nitpicking about the quality of her work.
  2. I want an Olympus OM-D E-M5 with the 20MP sensor & 4K video from the Olympus OM-D E-M1 II plus 4K60P
  3. Oh dear. The GX9 looked like a contender then I saw that 4K suffers a 1.26x crop. Maybe the OM-D EM10 III is the one?
  4. Thanks for the suggestion. I had an OM-D EM5 & loved everything about it apart from the soft 1080p video. Ergonomically it was great. A used OM-D EM5 II is a similar price t a used GX9 but of course lacks the 4K video. If the GX9 IBIS is as good as the OM-D EM5 then I would be very tempted to try a GX9.
  5. +1 I am on holiday in France at present & the other day we visited Mont-St-Michel. I decided that I didn't want to lug my Sony RX10IV up the steep streets so took my Sony RX100VI (which I use most of the time anyway unless I really need the RX10's 24-600mm FF equivalent zoom lens). Towards the end of the visit the battery ran out & had left spares in the car so I was reduced to using my iPhone 6s Plus. When I got back I uploaded my images I was surprised how well the quality of the iPhone photos & video held up. It's a bummer to have a single fixed lens instead of a zoom but TBH for snapshots as mementos I can see why the vast majority of people find their smartphone is good enough. I can't see how all these companies producing $2K+ FF cameras with $2K+ monstrous lenses can possibly make a profit. I gave up FF when I gave up shooting professionally. I have been happy with Sony 1" RX series bridge cameras for the last few years. I might be tempted with a MFT as I miss ultra wide angle & fisheye but it would need to be small. My ideal camera at present would be an OM-D EM5 with the EM1 II sensor & 4K video. The G9, GH5 & OM-D EM-1 II are great cameras but are getting to be FF size. In which case I would prefer an A7III or a Z6 or some other FF mirrorless instead of a big & heavy M43.
  6. 1" bridge cameras cover the low end with MFT in the middle. APS-C got squeezed out because with mirrorless there is precious little difference in camera or lens size compared to FF. I don't suppose that APS-C are much cheaper to manufacture than FF either.
  7. Since when did video AF become a deal breaker? Whatever happened to the idea that real men used manual lenses?
  8. The Sony RX10II has a 1" sensor like the XC10 but has a really great 24-200mm constant F/2.8 aperture lens with built in ND filters & motor zoom. It's a shame that Sony haven't put that lens into a newer more video oriented camera.
  9. A 1" sensor is the new standard for camcorders from all the manufacturers. The Canon XF400 is worth a look 4K/60p DPAF C-log 2xSD card etc etc https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/products/details/camcorders/professional/xf400
  10. They are just pretending to be a UK website they are actually in Hong Kong. The reason that their prices are cheap is that they avoid paying tax & duty by falsely declaring the value of the items. Basically you are buying from smugglers. There are quite a few similar websites doing the same. Tough luck if customs open your parcel because it will be you who has to pay the tax & customs duty.
  11. & here's a link to that interesting article https://www.olympuspassion.com/2018/03/21/making-documentary-short-film-olympus-e-m5-mk-ii/
  12. Thanks for taking the trouble to post this test footage. I'm interested in a cheap MFT camera for ultra-wide angle stills with either the Olympus 7-14mmF/2.8L or Panasonic 7-14mm F/4 & you can get a used OM-D E-M1 really cheap nowadays but I am reluctant to buy a camera that doesn't shoot 4K so this could be a contender. That footage is only 1080p & looks a bit soft. Was it shot in 4K or 1080p? or is it the video host that mushed it up? (never heard of Wistia before)
  13. 35mm still photos are usually quoted as being about 20MP i.e. 5K so cinema film at whatever ratio is going to be a fair bit less. Certainly no more than 4K.

Apart from the fact that he does disclose that BM sent him the camera for free why the fuck should he care about the FTC any more than you or I would? He lives in Mumbai.
  15. If the cost of the XF705 is a bit rich for your blood the new JVC GY-HC500 at half the price (£3395+tax) might be for you. It also has a 1" sensor & can record 4K@50pHDR 4:2:2 10-bit video plus has a 20x power zoom. Interestingly it can record to SSD. https://www.newsshooter.com/2018/09/11/jvc-gy-hc500-gc550/ https://cvp.com/product/jvc-gy-hc500-connected-cam
  16. Rubbish. As a tool for doing the job the price is fine. This is a proper professional camcorder delivering broadcast ready 4K@50p HDR 4:2:2 10-bit video for less than the price of the car the camera operator drove to get to the gig.
  17. Are vloggers really a market that any camera company seriously targets their cameras at? How many vloggers are there? Hundreds? Thousands? I doubt it. People who use these hybrid cameras primarily for video amount to no more than 5% of the total market so vloggers must be a tiny fraction of that 5%.
  18. I find it hilariously ironic that a couple of days after writing a post on "Why the camera press need to grow a pair of balls" decrying freebies & junkets that Andrew throws his toys out of the pram because BM didn't invite him to one of their junkets. Then Andrew declares that he is so pissed off with being snubbed that he is going cancel his pre-order of their camera. This all comes over as unbelievably petulant & childish behaviour. Andrew then goes on to compound this by posting a ranting blog insulting John Bawley who is one of the rare professional cinematographers who posts on this forum. JB has nothing to do with whether Andrew got invited to the junket or not but that seems irrelevant as he just gets caught in the blowback of Andrew's rage.
  19. It costs £2K & is sold as a cinema camera & has 120fps@4K in 150Mbps h.264 but is a one trick pony with literally no other feature that isn't better served by the BMPCC4K.
  20. Unless there is something I am missing I don't see why would you want to use a CFast card when you can use an SSD. A 1TB T5 SSD is just under £300 so gives 8x the storage for the same price. Not sure why BM put the card slots in. It would have been just as easy to make the body a little bulkier & have a slot for an SSD.
  21. Only a small number of Pro photographers have moved to M43. If might be prejudice. It might be that most prefer the FF look. It might be that size & weight doesn't matter much to most but it's undeniable that it's still only a minority.
  22. You have proof that this isn't a fake? It's easy enough to create an impressive PDF showing whatever video specs that you want. That document is on Google Drive not on www.canon.com
  23. This is not true. If there is a problem exchanging then the problem is the retailer. You have the full force of the Consumer Rights Act & can return for a full refund in the first 30 days after purchase. Any fault in the item in the first six months after purchase is deemed to be due to manufacturing problem so the retailer must either replaced or repair. Clearly your gimbal is defective so just return it for a full refund.
  24. It would be inconceivable that someone would be able to fake something with the complexity of a high end Nikon DSLR. However it appears that there are indeed fake Nikons being sold but they are real Nikons just not the model that the purchaser thinks they are buying as they have been cosmetically altered to look like a more expensive model. https://www.techradar.com/uk/news/photography-video-capture/cameras/is-your-dslr-a-fake-nikon-issues-a-fresh-counterfeit-warning-1291244
