  1. Kostas did a video with one of these:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vi-QAXNrLj0
  2. The good folks over at DVXuser, some of whom are affiliated with Panasonic, have not made any mention of a GH-C/GH-X that I have seen (though there is some speculation that Panasonic's 4K Varicam will debut). If one was to go on what they have been talking about for the past couple of weeks, Go-Pro is the most likely to release a new cine camera.   Of course, the only people who really know anything are under NDAs until the show.
  3. Mine came in this morning. Serial number #05. I have been couped up in the office all day working on an edit, but even in some quick shots of my coworkers, I am blown away by what I am seeing. This lens is quite unlike anything else I have ever used. I am not going to say too much right now, but there is so much possibility here...   I hope to post some footage this weekend.
  4. I use the Glidecam HD4000 with my GH2 (the top had additional counterweights). The HD2000 is probably better suited for this particular camera, but there's a good possibility that my next camera will be larger than the GH2. The arm brace helps a lot. Even with the arm brace, I can only fly the thing for two or three minutes at a time before my arm is ready to fall off.   All that being said, if I had back and/or neck problems I would go for the lightest setup possible.
  5. My wish list is even shorter than Andrew's: I'd love to see a GH3 with no moire, 10-bit 422 HDMI output, and a convenient way to connect an XLR (like the "grip-style" add on for the Sony A99) for around $3,500.
  6. I skipped the GH3 and kept my GH2 because I believe that Panasonic has something up its sleeve. Here's hoping!
  7. Depending on how thick they are, you could have them cut professionally so that they fit into a 4x4 mattebox.
  8. My best results have been with the Nikkor AI-S 85mm f/2.   I have high hopes for coupling this with the FlareFactory 58 that I just bought from Rich.
  9. It's a height-adjustable baseplate (readily available on eBay) with the baseplate removed. I bought a drill bit that is a hair wider than the girth of the dovetail screws and then drilled two holes in it and the screws go right through. It works pretty well.
  10. It sounds like you are talking about the OCT-18 NAS square fronts. The 50mm and 75mm spherical lenses share the same anamorphic front (the one that looks more like a square), while the 35mm spherical lens has its own anamorphic front (looks more like a rectangle/oval hybrid):
  11. The AC7 is nice. I rented one and I was impressed by the build quality. The colors were way off, but that can probably be corrected in the settings. I didn't have time to find out. 2x zoom is wonderful to have if you are shooting with a GH2 (which cannot give you magnified focus assist when an HDMI cable is plugged in).   Also consider the iKan D5w. It has waveform built in, which is helpful when trying to fit a shot into the DR-challenged DSLRs.
  12. All of the things that I thought would be neat to do to a lens to make it more interesting, Rich went out and DID them (as well as a couple of things that I hadn't thought of). I got the one after Andrew's (serial # 005) and personally I cannot wait to get my hands on it. Any day now.
  13.   Thanks for sharing, this film is in my top 10 of all time.
  14. I think that it looks rather good.   To figure out correct aspect ratio, shoot an image of a circle on your monitor or a step ring on your desk. When you import the footage, you'll be able to see pretty quickly what stretch factor to use (many lenses that have a '2x' designation are actually 1.9x, 1.8x, etc.)
  15. Agreed. Once you have the focus where it needs to be, there is only one parameter that you can possibly screw up. It's nice!

    Bags?

Here's what I use: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0019CSVMW   It's within standard airline carry-on dimensions. It is built like a tank, quite practical (especially with the addition of the mesh compartments that can be added to the lit) and quite water-resistant when closed. I end up sitting on it or propping a camera on it quite a bit.
  17. I wouldn't say that. I believe that the Isco Animex is a rebranded Iscomorphot 8/2x (confirmed by Alan/Tony Wilson), which is a lens that I happen to like quite a bit: http://vimeo.com/60401188 It is focus-through, like Andy says. But unlike the LA7200 or Century lenses, you have to focus your spherical to one set point, and then control your distance from your subject with diopters. This is a lens that tells you where to set your camera. A bit tricky, but if it's like mine, it can give you a very pleasing image if you are patient with it.
  18. WARNING: Contains violent imagery.   This is making the rounds on the internet today:   http://youtu.be/bWpK0wsnitc   Look at that bokeh. Incredible. I wonder what they used to shoot this...
  19. Nice footage as always, Seb. There is so much nice architecture in France!
  20. Thanks, John. I may do that once I assess the condition of the lens in person. Shouldn't be too long now.
