Micro Four Thirds sensors are not all alike. There's a 1.86x crop on the GH2 and a 2x crop on the GH3. I wonder how they will accomodate this?

Funny to see this post as I placed an order for a Gossen Digisix 2 last week. Up until now I have only been using a waveform to monitor exposure, but the ability to light a scene before the camera even shows up is invaluable to me. Also, I can match contrast ratios for consistency across a project. I'm really looking forward to getting it.

I just wrapped a shoot with a rented C100. I can't comment on the footage yet as I have not seen it (obviously the recording codec has its limitations), but I was surprised by how much I loved the design of the camera. It was intuitive and handled beautifully and had everything that I needed within easy access, much more than the FS100, AF100, probably the BlackMagic and certainly moreso than any ENG-type camera I have ever used. By the look of it, the C300 and the C500 are the same. Based on this experience alone, I believe that Canon is still in the game even though I can't afford to own one of these cameras for personal projects.   I believe that the "Democratization of Filmmaking" has already happened, and now we're just clamoring for slight IQ improvements. I've been caught up in it like so many others, but I'm trying to direct that energy towards shooting more stuff and building my skill set. The improvements will come sooner rather than later. But if I can't tell a story with a GH2 or a 5DIII, then those improvements will be lost on me when they get here.

Seb, I am shocked to see that you are selling this lens! It's like Superman selling his red cape. Are you moving to a different lens or out of anamorphic shooting altogether?

This is very true. Since your subject will ultimately be smaller on the monitor, larger monitors are much better for anamorphic monitoring. With a spherical lens, when something looks in focus, it's probably in focus. For anamorphic lenses, this may not be the case at all and it is a lot harder to tell on a smaller monitor. I just shot some footage with my shoulder-mounted Iscomorphot 8 2x while monitoring with my DP4 and was surprised to see that though it appeared to be in focus in my monitor, all of the footage turned out to be soft and pretty unusable. If I continue to shoot anamorphic footage, I will probably pick up an AC7.

  Agreed. A new $500 GH2, a $30 Canon FD to M43 adapter, and a set of three used Canon FD lenses (for instance, the basic cinema set: 35mm, 50mm, 85mm) can all be had for under $1000. In fact if you play your cards right on eBay, you might even be able to squeeze a used fluid head tripod out of your budget as well. Good luck!

I enjoyed that, especially the visual of the women cutting the string and the way that it worked with the music. I think that the "Death" character and his liquor could have been a little more foreboding but the actors were good. It's nice to see anamorphic shots coming from wide open spaces instead of urban settings every once in a while. 

The only difference between yours and mine would be the mount (mine is the Pentax Praktika M42 version), and it worked for mine.

That looks really nice. There appears to be no motion judder at 2x like the GH2!

It's a simple procedure, but does require some degree of precision.

It is just a tiny a bit annoying that only a day AFTER I buy the Xume adapter set do I have a solution for the diopter situation... But I still have my Iscomorphot 8 2x, and that needs diopters.

Success! I have completed Rich's "surgery". I am now able to focus at 3'2" without a diopter (any further and lens begins to wobble), wide open at f/1.8 and seemingly without a loss of sharpness: GH2 with Nikkor 50m f/1.8 AI-S @ f/1.8 and newly-modded Iscorama -- this is how close I am able to get. I did superglue in in my own jury-rigged limiter, but the throw of lens is so far now that it isn't making contact. I'll probably just put a red tape mark on the lens to indicate the closest that I dare to focus (though it's very obvious when you've gone too far). Today is a good day. Thanks again, Rich, for having the guts to be the first to open up a $3000 lens and poke around.

I have been trying for an hour to remove the front "Isco Gottingen" ring. It's on there pretty good. I have washed my hands many times. I've tried latex gloves and rubber bands, but nothing is budging. EDIT: Rubber-dipped gardening gloves did the trick on my first try.

Rich, this is huge. You are an innovator and a pioneer in the world of anamorphic shooting. With your discovery, my Iscorama becomes twice as usable. My hat is off to you!

This is great news, Rich! No need for the expensive Van Diemen mod now... I don't suppose that you took a photo while you were working on it?
