Panasonic S5 Entry Level Full Frame seems to be real...
Trankilstef replied to jgharding's topic in Cameras
Best option would be a second Panasonic S5 but if you don't have the budget yeah the g9 is a good option. Only thing that bothers me is having two different lens mounts, except if you plan on exclusively use EF lenses for example and use EF adapters on each cameras (a speedbooster on the g9 and the regular Sigma MC-21 on the S5). -
The Panasonic DC-BGH1 camera soon to be announced

Here is a leaked image of the camera : -
I don't seem to finid any topic on this camera on this forum? I find it quite interesting as it seems to be a modular video camera like the Z-cam form factor, with a micro 4/3 sensor, and all the bells and whistles Panasonic usually give us in their cameras. More info on the leaked specs : https://www.43rumors.com/more-leaked-panasonic-dc-bgh1-cine-mft-camcorder-specs/

Panasonic S5 Entry Level Full Frame seems to be real...

I made some simple and informal tests today with my little 5 year old kid running and monkeying around, and I was pleasantly surprised by the S5. Nowhere near my S1h, very different, in a positive way. The AF box sticks to people and faces waaaaaaaay better, and the pulsing didn't showed its ugly face in all the footage I shot today. I was very impressed and it seemed to me like night and day compared to the S1H or the GX80 that I own ! Of course, I really need to make some other tests but for now in video i'm really impressed, for personal and family things, I would definitely use AFC. For professional work and paid gigs, I need to do more tests. I was shooting 4K UHD 25p 10bit. -

Same for me it has arrived today. Tomorrow i'll make some tests to see what this little beast can output but so far first impressions are extremely good. Seems as well built as my S1H. Very comfortable in hand and so happy about the weight and size. I'ts going to be my daily camera, as well as my b-cam for shoots. I have a shooting on Wednesday (a small narrative web ad for an app) that I planned to shoot on one camera but I'm tempted to throw the S5 on set to take some additional coverage... Just to see how well it matches with its big brother. -

Panasonic S1H ProRes RAW 6K 12bit - download firmware
Trankilstef replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I love the rich colors that you can get with prores raw. S1H + ProRes RAW is a super combo ! -
Had the RX1 RII and yes it is much more exciting than this one (for photography, as it's another kind of camera). I really don't get how could we get excited by this Sony A7c at this price point. Cause to me the real problem is the price. If it were sold at 1500$ max that would be ok. But not at this insane price.
-
Here in France it is the same price (even 100 euros more for the body + kit lens), which i find insane for a 2 years old tech.
-
People are sheeps. they're gonna sell a bunch load of it, based on Youtube vloggers recommendation until next "big" thing. When you see what the Panasonic S5 offers for the same money, why on earth people would choose this werid thing... New concept camera? Meh !
-
I really don't understand Sony at all. If these pictures posted on sonyalpharumors ( https://www.sonyalpharumors.com/new-sony-a7c-real-world-images/) are reliable and authentic , look at the menu system... Why do they go back to their previous type of menu, the one that everybody complained about? they made a smart move changing it completely with the release pf the A7SIII, so everybody was thinking they'll bring this menu on every new A7 body... But no of course. Is Sony the new Canon? As we say in french, take one step forward and two steps backwards....

That's what i think too. -
Very nice images Juan, well exposed and graded, very clean look even a night. What do you think of the dynamic range? Seems pretty good in your shots.

Interesting DR comparison between the S5 and the BMPCC 6K : -
Of course but not this one. Really I don't get it, ergonomically shitty, nothing improved from the A7III and pricey for what it offers. I had some other small cameras with big sensors (Sony RX-1RII, Fuji X100F and Leica Q for example) and I could really understand why those appeal to photographers. butseriously this A7c is kind of a joke, no personnality at all, ergonomics seems nothing but bad, good sensor but nothing to write home about.... Very dull in my book.
-
Exactly my thoughts. I can't understand the appeal for this camera.
-
That's what I don't understand with Sony (and sometimes Canon). Why on hell do they make choices like this? I mean, it's obviously an ergonomic disater design choice ! How could at least one guy involved in the decision about design approve this kind of thing? Even Panasonic on their GX80/85 put a front dial, a rear dial without sacrificing the exposure comp dial (wich in modern cameras like this is a waste of space in my opinion, except for some Fuji or Leica wich have all the ergonomics of vintage cameras) with the very same form factor but at a much lower price and target audience ! That's insane to me !

That's my workflow. i'm using the Sigma adapter for low light interiors if needed. And even with the fotodiox, no problem when cranking up the iso to 4000 (the second native ISO of the S1H and S5) if I am in the rush. -

I think you'll be served very well with the L mount system. Bodies are really good, there are lenses coming, photo and especially video features are excellent, no compromises here except for continuous AF on video but the S5 seems to have improved this area a lot, and in a few firmwares this shoyld be really reliable. I think you made a really good choice. -

I bought it straight from the Fotodiox website, it was the last item in stock at the time I bought it. I did'nt see any color cast but I didn't go to the max maybe I will need to make other tests. But I don't think there will be as much color cast as with some circular NDs i have. In my very quick test I didn't see any. I will put it mor to the test in the few weeks coming. For now I'm really happy as it will come really handy and will speed up my shooting time when outside on a low profile. -

Waiting for this. I saw an EVA1 on mpb.com being sold for 3600€ with only 70 hours of running time! I was about to buy it but decided to wait a bit, as I needed more a little b-cam to my S1H than a bigger cam. But as my video business is going up, I may have needs for a bigger cam later so I don't have to rent anymore, so an EVA-2 would be very interesting.
