  1. And you're right there ; ) But when we don't have a dog for going to hunt, let's find a cat, isn't it? LOL : -) Well, without losing the hope, everything can't be bad in all extension of the course, so RAVPower or a couple others can do the trick, I guess : -)
  2. Brian, is that your real name you wrote, right? If it is true you are not connected with the brand, you say, nothing more can be inferred from there in any way other than truly suspicious and unveiled content from your keyboard. How you know "Grant, JB, and Hook probably don't monitor this site anymore" as for instance? What for also those other words in your posting before so revealing? How can you surely be so certain of all that? Speaking about personal aspects of people doesn't show any distance from that environment, on the contrary. On your challenge, I've already responded to you directly, clear and very detailed, nuff said. That "bet you can't" is simply ridiculous... Don't cover yourself on your national pedigree or where have you been when I've praised that people in these same pages even recently?! C'mon, give anyone and everyone a break ; ) The same for BMD products... Never read such? Or then, it was no necessary to be here when only flowers have been written? To say I've criticized Resolve to follow everything I've recorded in these boards about Resolve is beyond the acceptable. Save your nonsense to wherever you want and where your agenda is coming from. Because under my eyes and any attentive reader that doesn't lie. Simply don't come here to spread BS trying to silent good people and distort facts in a cheeky manner. Must I need to embarrass you with quotes of mine? Is it strictly necessary? I don't think so. Do better your home work. And better to be quiet. Your posts only demand for a reply. This can end to distort for some casual reader we early P4K buyers are unhappy with the camera. That's not factual and pure disservice. Pay attention to what you're doing. As matter of fact, we early P4K adopters are very happy with the purchase. With or another quirk is not enough to put a shame on the whole thing. Need to have perspective. B&W is to reduce the reality and only coming from a disastrous marketing and communication as several people here have quoted. For some reason some people pop up on here very nervous! LOL ; ) We even have the chance of cDNG. Pity the newcomers are unable to have it in any way other than looking for the previous units. Sad to see.
  3. Really?... I don't see it in such way when we find this, don't you agree? https://www.ebay.com/itm/1100mAh-LP-E12-Battery-for-Canon-Rebel-SL1-EOS-M-EOS-M2-M10-Mirrorless-Camera-TP/332655092541?hash=item4d73c9e33d:m:m4ttztCUyitOpyui3PmvNIQ
  4. I have friends there so I can't be happy with. However, truth is above any ties, so kudos for people having guts to call the bulls by the names as we say in my native country. This was the reason why I left the RED project at time earlier than later of any further losses on the way (5DII was the caveat and here I am in this location), even though their achievements, just not protecting their client basis or the revolution they claimed to be. E : -)
  5. Sharper can be much less... (E : -)
  6. I'd much rather have everyone having access to the same IQ BMD has been to all of us since the early beginning! : -)

    Gilles Deleuze

One of the criticism made over Deleuze is exactly the fact he was used to explain maths and science concepts with no much care if Mr. and Mrs. Sixpac had effectively any idea about them. The criticism over the critics resides essentially in the lack of two Aristotle mutual concepts: memory and whole, ignoring the wide contributions of Deleuze such as deconstruction, as for instance. So crucial to filmmaking in any of its several departments to join the parts and make some sense, if any, to the piece when together... ; -) http://maddalo.blogspot.com/2009/12/derrida-and-deleuze-differences-of.html The proof is the way his rhizome spreads in so many influences suffered by us, our contemporary counterparts. Here is merely the fine crocodile example over yours -- I'm sorry if I'll sound too unfair now! LOL : ) https://thoughtleader.co.za/bertolivier/2015/06/15/what-is-a-rhizome-in-deleuze-and-guattaris-thinking/ I invite you all to read the entire article, however here is an excerpt recalled by your post ; ) "In Deleuze and Guattari’s work “rhizome” is roughly the philosophical counterpart of the botanical term, suggesting that many things in the world — to be consistent, if one follows the direction of their thinking, “all things” in the world — are rhizomes, or rhizomatically interconnected, although such connections are not always (in fact, seldom) visible. Animals or insects that live symbiotically appear to be an obvious example, such as the little birds that clean crocodiles’ teeth when these reptiles bask in the sun with their huge jaws open: instead of eating the birds, the crocodiles let them feed on the bits of meat, etc, between their teeth — their teeth are cleaned, and the birds are fed, in this way forming a rhizome. After all, when one sees them separately, few people would guess that their species-economy is rhizomatically conjoined. Another way of expressing this in Deleuze and Guattari’s language is to see the birds and the crocodiles as an “assemblage”, which forms part of a larger assemblage or rhizome, ordinarily referred to as an ecology, or (biologically) interconnected totality of heterogeneous entities or, more precisely, processes “differing in rhythm and speed”. Bees and the plants whose flowers they visit to gather pollen comprise a rhizome, or an assemblage, just as a book does, according to Deleuze and Guattari in A Thousand Plateaus (p. 4). In short, the rhizome or assemblage is a model that functions as a “crystal” of sorts regarding Deleuze and Guattari’s ontology. Insofar as, petrologically speaking, a crystal concentrates in itself layers upon layers of a mineral, metaphorically stated, the rhizome (or an assemblage) denotes the layers upon layers (“laminations”, perhaps) of the relationally interconnected, dynamically and quantitatively as well as qualitatively differentiated constituents of rhizomorphic reality. To comprehend their use of “rhizome” Deleuze and Guattari enumerate some of its characteristics, as distinguishable from an obsolete way of thinking in terms of “arboreal” metaphors like “root”. As far as “principles of connection and heterogeneity” go, it means that anything can be connected to any other thing at any point (p. 7), unlike what “arboreal” root-discourse presumes, which is the foundation of binary thinking. Then, regarding the principle of “multiplicity”, it has to be thought of “substantively”, as that which has ontological primacy, not merely as “the multiple” (p. 8). Whether we like it or not, we live within multiplicity. In this regard Deleuze and Guattari observe (p. 8): “A multiplicity has neither subject nor object, only determinations, magnitudes, and dimensions that cannot increase in number without the multiplicity changing, in nature (the laws of combination therefore increase in number as the multiplicity grows).” It seems to me that what follows is the increasing complexification of the world, as more people are born (than those who die), and as more ontological levels of multiplicity emerge, which necessarily interact with others. Think of everything that one encounters in “virtual reality” or “cyberspace”, and the impact that these phenomena have on concrete social reality. Since the advent of the internet, the complexification of the world through increased multiplicity has accelerated." CONT'D On Gilles Deleuze, we can invariably say too little in the teeth of his contribution when not only key for modern cinema and media, as well, the digital revolution, but crossing the most various zones of the man of nowadays. If someone thought the modern man of XXI century, this man was/is (his legacy didn't die in that autumn day) the most important thinker of half-century before. In a very personal Joe's line of my own still puzzled two decades later: what a feat! E : -)
  8. Is this situation pleasant and positive to any BMD customer? We became used to see this going along the major players, not a company like Blackmagic... Much disappointing to see, Mr. Petty! I'd say there's a high chance he's reading these lines since he is aware of this thread, so I hope this can touch his sensibility. We buy BMD for some different reason... No regrets so far. I hope you keep going your commitment with your loyal clientele all the time anyway! E : -)
  9. What's your beef here, man? Do you think I am not a P4K camera owner/user? Is that what you're insinuating? Why that? Someone has given you instructions for that? Is that so? First off, it is me who pays my bills, not you or anyone else here to begin with. I am usually to be paid or I invest my own money for. Neither one of both is represented in this request of yours. Maybe you think I am trolling over here trying to bash your product? If you'd be serious on here or an usual reader you'd well know I've never had such attitude. Either to this or any other camera or piece of gear... Go figure for my fav cam ever! : P You haven't read my posts, I see, I don't blame you for that though, no hard feelings! : -) Moreover, I didn't report any issue in any way other than reading the issue brought by that other fellow user aka squig (I won't even call him now by his first name I am used to for years for a simple reason, I don't trust your intentions. Who are you? Who pays you to be here?) followed by another user who posted a link for another thread in your forum, I bet; not a brand agnostic oasis like this one. My first reaction to his post was a surprise. Go back a few pages: Need to do better your home work! LOL ; -)
  10. Yes, this camera is a low light beast indeed : ) To admit it where shines, to not be silent when it is time to open the mouth. This is nothing but truth : -) At times, there are several of them to compete amongst each other. Sometimes, it is a way more simple than that... : -D
  11. Neither you and me. We've been a very supportive basis Blackmagic has had in the forums we participate for years! As much as Andrew, BTW. It is a shame the brand doesn't recognize the voice of their loyal backers outside their own bubble as due. Only when someone makes it louder... perhaps.
  12. Emanuel is my real name. I am producer. You have a IMDb link in my signature where you can try to trace some of the work I've participated. If you're in Australia, I think you'll easily find a independent feature shot on NZ with a 5DII. The title is 'The Baldlands' and last time I checked, you could find it on YT too. BTW the film director and my partner in that production came to change and buy Blackmagic gear for his next film to follow a suggestion of mine. Still his current bet, I've heard from him. For the period along these last years, it is easy to search on google and find some other titles, mainly mere trailers for obvious copyright protection. With one or another exception, I guess. Also shot on Blackmagic cameras, one or another by my direct influence or decision. Not rarely against the primary wish or idea of the director or/and cinematographer. It happened! Before 2001, only TV, corporate and film school work as well a co-production multiple awarded in Venice shot in 35mm film, probably available via torrents or suchlike once it is already a twenty-year-old feature movie today. Even though, still referred as one of the most interesting movies of the Italian cinema of the last decades. Personally, I don't currently have any YT channel. I've emailed Grant Petty and a few people inside BMD to address it. For the content of Brian's post, I'd even dare to bet you're just talking with someone insider now... LOL ; -)

    Gilles Deleuze

Because pictures are not only made of technology... Who from here has any interest on his lessons? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilles_Deleuze You need to provide the necessary deterritorialization from your own being to be able to see better. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deterritorialization To come out from your shell, the need of a neutral point of view, dissociated from your own experience and passions. Take a look on this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhizome_(philosophy) You're ready to be naked by the eyes of anyone even in the way you choose your clothes. The root-tree system who charts you is a bitch. E : -)
  14. Follow your point, but playback is not so dramatic at all. Here's mine on a Windows tablet and handles perfectly well any 4K outcome, H.265 (HEVC) included: It's more about processor. Let's not confusing with Resolve, based on eGPU resources consuming, instead.
  15. I put more emphasis on the shooter skills instead, to be honest ; -)
  16. Wide enough to get it fine. No excuses for your gem to end ignored then, once more focused on the creative side than merely the tool itself, in such case. Thus, this is entering in some other category. Reminds me the DVXfests from those golden oldies on DVXuser. More serious than apparently could seem to be, kudos! Hope to only be the first one of many to come, so good luck to this initiative and every contender too : ) Who knows we won't be seeing any masterpiece to pop up from here...? A proof of a mature community like this brand agnostic forum is : -) Happy shooting!
  17. I don't think rules are unfair. Even though, color correcting will put more emphasis on your grading skills as well : -)
  18. Seems there's a declared win-win already over there before this competition to have even started, yet... LOL ; ) Simply hilarious. ML RAW has no competitors, really. Hands down. A shame to every single manufacturer out there, Canon included! : -)
  19. Why not? To my book, even Redmi Note 7 might apply, along camera2api brings a very capable 200Mbps video acquisition tool, extra competition at least.
  20. In that period above-mentioned before Blackmagic to have purchased the brand and the company, there was no independent software as today, invariably committed with dedicated hardware (even DaVinci was yet known by da Vinci Systems, da Vinci Academy, etc; the actual denomination came later with a communication update but we're basically speaking about the same product for a few hundred bucks nowadays... universal in any high-end but consumer platforms... simply amazing!).
  21. Indeed. And pretty determinant to launch the career of a song. Now or before the digital revolution. Recalls this classic I was used to play and open my first radio program back to my teens and where actually I began my adventure on media -- visual matters and we were used to make reference to the video-clip as music videos started to be called in my native country then:
  22. MSRP or street price? The currency value in 2019 or twenty years ago? I should have written in some European currency even before the euro starting in 2002. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cifrão It was possible to buy the equivalent to 100,000 then back to early noughties. Usually quoted in pound sterling in that period for the whole of European markets. Pre-brexit *cough cough* times. A F900 Cinealta (before the F900R) costed 103,000, the exact quotation I had to buy my camera unit when I finished my film graduation. That is, when I was in the film school, either some used system from late 90s (I still remember the release of DaVinci 2K systems in the early of my editing academic days, we editors were used to AVID in that period) or/and addressed to some education/training program promoted by the brand. That's an accurate figure by then. The point of yours is taken : ) but my memory still serves for the subject matter -- trust the leftover of my DNA in common with Jumbo! : D
  23. It can be the camera work, directing, photography, editing, stage performance or any other. Tell us what impressed you most, somehow touched you or inspires your work... Your own or in a different note, musical skills also apply; part of this craft after all! : ) I'd love to hear the suggestions of you all and I bet I'm not alone on such wish and challenge to this community... Many to come! ; -) Here's one of my favorites: Enjoy, E : -)
  24. Free version brings some hardware limitations, better to buy a Blackmagic camera to include it : ) That's why they've addressed those speed restrictions. A pain to admit it, but pure fact. BMD has some ethical flaws to correct. Their business policies won't sanctify them... ; -) Yet, a bargain for what it is. Let's be fair, simply the best editing and grading software available. This playground was in the $100,000 mark some time ago. I guess three full years of film editing background + some extra year of full training as trainee in such field can tell a bit too : -)
  25. Thank you man! Better later than never! LOL ; -) BTW has anyone tried slimRAW on here? I guess it cannot mitigate the hassle but actually wonder what Mihail @cpc has to say on blueskies macroblocking topic?
