LOL Indeed... : -) Thumbs up! : -) Who does? ; ) They don't support nor award any enthusiasm outside their bubble. This is not a good selling point. Other than that, BRAW effectively is -- a bit from where their arrogance comes to be honest from my own experience : -)

David is surely a reputable voice not connected with BMD as much as RED : D or any other manufacturer. I see him as brand agnostic as me, I guess : ) I don't believe shills are coming here, not BMD type, I think. My beef with them is just related to business policies and their obsession with broadcast market. Even though, they struggle to move on. Just not as quick as a few people, myself included, would like. I am their supporter from day one. I believe and know they could care about us outside better than they actually do. Too stuck on their organization chain. It is necessary to listen everyone. That's what I'd much appreciate to see from their own : -) Even because there's no other Pocket 4K out there. With RAW acquisition as for instance amongst other Goodies?! Where...? ; -)
-
Wait for BRAW and you'll be able to check what that does mean ; -)
-
I see it overpriced when there's P4K and you admit you have no need for AF nor IBIS : ) I'd add, it is obvious then. At a certain point, I wonder if you are any shill to promote over here the new Lady... LOL : -)

MFT is the most versatile cinema mount you can find, so you can add from affordable native f/1.7 primes as for instance -- I've had reports 12-35mm f/2.8 is a good match for P4K as well. Both pretty affordable Oly 12-50mm f/3.5‑6.3 and Panny 45-175 f/4.0-5.6 offer you electric-powered zoom capability like you had a video camera in your hands. Without mention the Queen 18-35mm (I'm afraid longer focal length zoom won't make much sense once much heavier) f/1.8 coupled to a focal reducer where ends +1 to + 1 1/3 stop of gain and finally, those incredibly cheap C-mount pieces. There's no other mount where you can add almost everything you want, even PL mount lenses via adapter. So you are in some special territory where you can even mimic something midway S35mm film and FF look as you wish : -)

People infer it is hard to get good outcome with the Pocket. I see exactly the opposite. No experience with it yet. The idea I get from there is that you won't need to struggle with highlights in order to have them under control. The absence of artifacts, moiré, etc. For the price too. Clean low light performance, but also pleasant filmic noise where happens. High standard codecs (let alone BRAW when will arrive) will keep away the usual 8-bit macroblocking we tend to see from low bit rate. Aside the fact you won't easily find that film-like look unless going to post with other digital acquisition tools (when not much limited to below 10-bit), count on it ; ) Not to mention all the stuff this brand has gotten us used to it. Don't tell me the price range is irrelevant... LOL ; -) There's no other similar offer in the segment and that's nice to know. A good reason to demand top service from the manufacturer. Business policies related, as well. In a word, a no-brainer : -)

Is this in the camera menu?! Oh God... LOL : -)

I was used to see small companies to defy the big ones, now I've found the major players to adopt themselves to the market. The argument they don't care about small companies like Blackmagic or RED in the past is subject to the confirmed sources because I only see it fully outdated. The competition is ferocious and they're adapting themselves to any innovator may introduce. I've listened reports Panny will respond with RAW and so on, keep going, Sony, Nikon, Fujifilm as the most recent releases prove it just to mention a few. Seems pretty natural to me or anyone that people here in a forum like this one may support a younger player to give them a dream of a camera like this Pocket 4K is. The reality is beyond that, though. Shills are a plague in any way whatsoever because they misshape the POVs. I can't surely know where they are. Our webmaster doesn't, go figure myself or anyone else here. To log in and write whatever is possible to post means nothing or too little ; ) That's what I try to transmit taken some reserves. Andrew spotted something with that thread he has opened to mention "Plants" from companies on this forum. I've also been supporting him against his own forum included, from so much discreditable ingratitude some time earlier. Same period of time, what brand? On that one, we can identify the move. I didn't like. Such approach can't have my support. Sometimes we must say no. Why? Just a matter of fairness. Isn't it enough? It is childish to infer the world is made of flowers and yups or fanboys. I once heard someone to reply a post of mine saying "he was as brand agnostic as Emanuel". I think this sums up my perspective. No hater standpoint here, no matter what, quite the opposite : ) One swallow does not make a spring : -) * One swallow does not a summer make, nor one fine day; similarly one day or brief time of happiness does not make a person entirely happy. ~ Aristotle

Mattias, I personally know both of them. Trust me, they are as real as my personal experience with Blackmagic. Ordinary people like you and me. I think we don't need to extreme positions whatever the topic is, theories of conspiracy are silly. So the same applies with this subject we're discussing here. I am enthusiastic with this camera. Unique of a kind, as already posted by my myself so many times from April (not this morning or yesterday night! : ) Let alone the Resolve Studio pack all included for free with the purchase. End of story with the camera deal, OK? I just don't see this company to adopt the best policies, those ones I'd appreciate to feel myself safe with. This comes from business with them, not even tech related. Marketing also fails. Manchester episode is only the finest episode of it. There was a London presentation last week BTW. Same thing. Fortunately, I can't say the same with RED. I had a good story with them. 5% of attendees when Ted came to Rome during their World Tour were brought with me. Without mention both Jim and Jarred, as much as every rep I've been in touch with, they are 5-star service. Just my 0.2, E : -)

Once you are editing your own post and introducing another paragraph (now as prologue LOL) here I am again to address you that question in disguise of another personal attack. Still without clue who you are. You instead have that link in my signature which can give you full disclosure who I am, from where I am coming. Real world, fellow ; ) I never said what you're inferring from my posting. Please don't put words in my keyboard I didn't write. I only said attitude this company has. You know or should know if you are in this industry as real customer, to have a product out there means much more than a sale. It means to offer reliability, support, good communication, only to mention a few. I referred myself to business policies and lack of view on the segment they've introduced this offer. US $1-1.5K segment where hybrids have arrived and changing this industry. Take a look on the success of this website where we are and do a fair comparison with the remaining out there only to have a better glance on topic ; -) I'm sorry but I will not repeat myself. You have the chance to read my posts following my profile. Good luck! PS: Now a second paragraph you've added... When will you stop to protect your argument, dude? I won't bother to answer anymore. My time is paid by myself, pal ; ) Nuff said. The most funny is to have now Captain Hook to downvote some of my criticism. C'mon guys... I had inside information Grant Petty could be monitoring these lines, so be careful with your free speech... LOL ; ) Good chance to address some of our concerns, isn't it? ; -)

I don't see a product exclusively for my use. Personal use or work. I see it not only from my background or experience. I also help others to make their own choices. Yes, I see it not only from my own knowledge, from a scientific perspective because tech is science, but science is not only tech ; ) There are several equations these boards tend to neglect, being Economics only one of them. This makes any industry though. Such standpoint childishly ignores know-how, that's all. Market, in a word. All of us should have that variable to comprehend any tech talk. Unfortunately, if someone comes here to mention it, the reading over here is taken by 'features whining' instead. Or exclusively under a certain personal perspective or experience. We are here to trade different angles and POVs, I guess. BTW, I'd like to address you by your name too but I am unable to have that real information from you (E : -)
-
LOL Right. That title. The marketing... It is not only on lack of features. But attitude. I think this brand is overestimated. Fanboys see it like the last return of the Savior. That's not what my experience tells me. Let alone the business perspective someone might expect from a company too centered on the broadcast segment when the media convergence is changing this industry. It is only a distinct viewpoint. But people seem to rather listen or see flowers about... Who? You. You are not everyone, man. Not at all. Come here to call dictator to someone else... LOL I do it, as for instance. Not idea in your background, but I categorize a camera under different perspectives, being price range one of them. Speaks two decades and a half on this industry ; -)
-
It seems it is you who has something to address me where publicly doesn't fit ; ) What should it be said in public? Pity, that 'shill argument' feeling didn't abandon me yet... This brand is not the one some of us would expect but a few supporters sell like they are the last cookie of the pack? And then someone comes to invoke the real world...? What real world?! There's real world beyond our own perspective and experience whichever it is. Your excuse is pointless when we're not discussing cinema cameras, only the $1-1.5K price range, exactly the hybrid segment, have you forgotten? ; -)
-
You've sounded, yes. To infer someone is dictator is not the use of a friendly approach. At least to me. I hate to have to read ad hominem attacks on here or anywhere else. First off, we can discuss a point. We just can address some personal point directly to the person we want to reach. There are places for. I wouldn't call autofocus tracking unrealistic. IBIS, as well. BMD has even introduced tap-to-focus on their lineup now. When some other contenders give that to the customer. It is pointless my personal use. That's what I'm trying to express myself before. On the other hand, this manufacturer is self-centered on the broadcast segment. But, they deliver cinema cameras exclusively (trust me) from that angle. Offering that like a hybrid tool. This makes little sense to my perspective. My disappointment is not towards this camera, as said, but their standpoint. Andrew's report on his Manchester event experience only raised up a red alert I could unfortunately confirm. Sad find by the way. Nothing about that case now. That's the way they see the market from their broadcast market target. And you come here to tell us they're focused to produce cinema cameras? They don't even care to understand what a hybrid tool means. Impression got from real contact in the real world, not fanboyism delirium... Is this good? Not to my book, I'm sorry.
-
Why so harsh man? Is that really needed? What do you know about my experience with this company? For your information, I've dealt 28 camera units with Blackmagic now. These days... Never saw so improper attitude coming from a similar industry player in my 25 years of business. Real world. Period. Business policies and lack of industry vision, yes. Or you only are able to talk about technology? You complain. Very well, I also complain on lack of business knowledge from a few of you. Go to school. That's what I did. Why to spread misinformation on topics we have no even clue they exist? Who are you after all? Sorry pal, but I am starting to see you as a shill over us. I read recent Andrew's thread on topic. And that's what comes to my mind after your new post. You look like a child to whom we can't address a compliment or the kid starts to misbehave. Fully stupid this attitude. You come here to insult (y)our webmaster... In the same page. C'mon, give yourself a better shot.
-
Correct Dennis : ) This camera is the best bang for the buck. I am just upset with the brand. Andrew was fully right on that one. I've been in touch with several people inside the company. Grant Petty should address all that. Their policies and lack of vision for a noteworthy business much different than broadcast realm so to this segment, affordable cinema cameras or hybrids ballpark, simply suck. My only complaint.
-
No disappointment with this camera at all. I am actually with both of you @A_Urquhart @grex in your choice : D Maybe only with a brand which is still lazy in several aspects and old school when market is trending somewhere else. Thanks for your entries and civil reply BTW, much appreciated, really (E : -)
-
Ah so there's also travelers not to be forgotten here... ; ) Let me see, the best camera is that one you have with you, isn't it? Or should we infer we have to resign on our phone camera for that? ; -)
-
Indeed but when that 5DII popped up? (you even look like to repeat some post I had posted here before LOL) Let me see... 4Q 2008? We're speaking about what here, actually and more exactly? Tripod or slider shots? Is that? How much is the price range of that cinema camera BTW? Because it was mentioned US$ 1-1.5 grand, the same for the top smartphone offering all that PDAF has implemented from some time earlier than 4Q 2018. You know something? Something that really pisses me off is when we, me included if/when happens (hey, I am not perfect either! LMAO : ) tend to forget a point because we have something of our inner own -- like an investment we did, no matter how small it is... just to protect or to massage our self esteem ; ) This is not honest : ) I am not glad to feel like to have to write it anywhere, go figure here, but we're trading a subjective interest for a fact. Doesn't serve the truth or the reality of the facts. Reason why fanboys end to get a pejorative meaning over these and other boards, I'm afraid. But you have there good tap to focus, as far as it is reported from that video I commented... so, why bother with my AF remark? : X If it is because I've mentioned that. Let me tell you starting to present my disclaimer that for three years during my film school going along with 16mm film, I had to be focus puller without clue if me and my colleagues, we'd have the whole school to praise or curse our skills when the 'collective footage' was used to be pixel peeped @ big screen, just arrived from lab rushes. Moreover, what for that cap on the operator's head with the RED up there? : D As much helpful as AF or IBIS for handheld shooting, I presume...?! C'mon... give me you all of those old school lovers a break because I've already given to him @wolf33d on his usual point whenever a new release comes, pretty fair BTW : -)
-
Indeed. Helpful FAQ video. AF related too. I know a few of you spend hours of discussion on some pixel peeping when to my perspective, AF and IBIS are the crucial points of a $1-1.5 device. These cameras are or should be designed to be operated for a single shooter at any rate or some other doesn't mean much else : ) We are in 4Q 2018... : -) I think this may immediately answer you or anyone else shooting under those conditions: : -)
-
ah OK, so take a look here: http://urbanvideo.ca/avoid-video-flicker Hope this helps, E : -)
-
Of course. I guess he meant the typical 30p aka soap opera frame rate instead.
-
Looks some Iscorama glass coupled there. To me, bothers much more that flickering over there which could be corrected with the use of proper shutter speed BTW : ) Aside the dichotomy 50Hz vs 60Hz for 25/50/100 or 24/60/120 fps, respectively.
-
They react. BMD case these days. Panny has had some other story though. Not my advice as senior consultant for more than 25 years today. My dear Don, almost any camera can look better than the most recent technology in that so small box like GH5S is. It just depends on the shooter... (E ; -)
-
I'd tend to never be a fanboy of a company self-centered into the broadcast sector when we live media convergence days as ever before, if some people haven't understood yet. I don't find hybrids to be bad cinema cameras, rather the opposite or this website wouldn't even exist. Neither this thread with more than half million of views, trust me. People come here not because they're not happy with their hybrid cinema cameras. Only because they want much more. Hybrids are reaching that one. As observer and industry player, I'd say 5DII was only the first stone to be followed by that 'S' model by Sony with Panny to include 10-bit 4:2:2 in-camera, now even Fuji has added their 4:2:0 version. How long up to arrive to the BMD standards? Will it be so long? Is anyone sure of that will be a long road from today? C'mon... Why that same GH5S sensor? I've even asked to someone top ranked inside BMD, just a few days ago and he was unable to deny it... Disclosed information, he defended himself. Give us a break for a very simple reason: market and its players will dictate that one, step by step, from any incremental introduction now because giant leaps have been taken. Not marketing -- rather different than market(s) who actually establish the rules.
