  1. @TheRenaissanceMan I found that comparison test pretty interesting. Didn't you? I also found the tester has arrived to the same opinion your comments point out and I share. Reason why I pushed the 'like' button over your posts and posted that. @jonpais When I was @ law school before to conclude my learning there, I had dreams, you know? I thought filmmaking was much easier to match my own expectations. Then, I went to film school where I could have the experience of 4-years full training on post-production and directing departments. I also realized at that time the post graduate studies in the field of production could lead to better waters for the kind of work I would like to experiment and became a producer. You can find the links in my signature shot with many different cameras. In one or another I had some influence on the camera decision front, as well, some other gear connected with. Without mention some creative choices to make, non-technology-related. On a few others, none of my business for that specific project. On the leftover, I don't find a forum like this one may call the best location for that. I am not a reviewer nor tester in any way other than non-scientific tests I perform when other ones have much more work to show. So, I'd rather post the best I can find to illustrate my own finds. As a still photographer I also much appreciate to shoot, oh well, frankly on that one, follows the same rule in the last paragraph, at least in part. I always praise my work as very personal. There's place for everything in life and life out there : ) The right location.
  2. The color science of these guys coupled to their solid bit rate and truly golden acquisition have no parallel wherever we're looking for at similar range (I even intimidate myself to write price range... WTH it's 700 bucks!)
  3. ... Jump to minute 9:23 and you'll see another much acute comparison... Don't forget to take a look on minute 11:12 as well ; ) Well, sharpness is far to be a standard :-)
  4. The very consistent truth along the filmmaking path is... ...to balance a combo as your best wizard stick within. Still as mere footnote now: prime insights to add any decent lurking mode over here BTW : ) Cheers! Glass love is always truly something to praise when we dare to think pictures (E :-)
  5. I must confess I'd rather take the smoothness balance without losing the sharp outcome for any one of the 14-42mm versions than the sharpness from the 12-35mm constant f/2.8 glass... Unpredictable stuff from tempered forks over knives (interesting doc title BTW) to gently handle can always end juicy to our side as we wish and our craft takes there. Cinematic milestone is anything but never utmost real details from the subject to shoot. Thanks to Chris for taking the discussion on the table : ) More love for crappy lenses! LOL : )) Here we go -- no reason to be picky with low light shortcoming this time... no excuses hehe Sorry to go deeper (you Glenn @mercer already know it) BTW it even has Fuji in the name all included! LMAO (E :-)
  6. If... You said it all ; ) DR seems to be nothing :X when color science pops up to play too (E ;-)
  7. Yeah, that crappy cheap glass is a real bitch... LOL :-)
  8. LOL you non-GH5 users are funny... Intriguing comment from a C500 & GH5 shooter, humm?! ; ) Different angles, yeah. But, very distinct results too... Predictions are hard to make or can we accurately do so? Really? Enough to support such claim then from the word given of a reputable member there or not exactly so? :D (Let's give fairness and equity to play their role over bias, no? :P) Without mention he speaks from the authority of someone claiming he has used both cameras for the same circumstances... ;-)
  9. ?? How it's not the GH5?! That's the information right there, take a new look :-)
  10. No worries, mate : ) LOL I love to play with the concept... there are fanboys and fayboys hehe Thanks anyway to rule me out of there : )) Nice from you, buddy :-) We can't love cameras anymore without label them as our mistresses, isn't it? ;-)
  11. The Panny 14-42mm...?! WTH How dare you...?! What a crappy lens!! LOL : ) Sorry, couldn't resist... :-)
  12. Funny... so, à la Edison now... copyright belongs to the camera manufacturer (l'auteur...), not the shooter... LOL :-)
  13. Indeed. Very interesting, hey MFT naysayers! LOL : ) GH5 is "the" bomb :-D C500 GH5 source: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?359026-GH5s-dynamic-range-tests&p=1986747519&viewfull=1#post1986747519
  14. I don't think Fuji fanboys are made of a different kind ; ) I always appreciate healthy criticism when fair enough : )
  15. A good point is always to be picky on the flaws of the opponent side whatever it is, correct? ; ) Something from my past experience with him when he simply didn't follow some tips I left there on GH5 AF performance. He read it so but he kept going to insist to not research the matter at least; always repeating the same mantra until FUD pops up as a fake truth or only half-true as you wish spread all over internet. That kind of behaviour truly raises red flags to my book. As we all know, we can make any splendorous device to perform crappy as we wish ; )) Andrew's post sums up the whole leftover. I guess no more need to add anything more on topic. For some reason Andrew's forum/blog is my fav one and the most fair unbiased corner we can find on internet for cameras technology and its discussion. I think we can all agree on it or we wouldn't be here, isn't it? :-) Cheers, E :-)
  16. Yes, it is hardly a serious filmmaking tool. But you know something, Jon? I love to experiment. And I've actually defied that piece of glass ("the cheaper longer version of that lens") on challenging occasions which have lead me to nice surprises over there : ) Shallow DOF included. It is actually my 1st tip of introductory glass on 4/3" for novices. I must confess to digital I see this format as the 16mm to film; moreover, with a focal reducer adapter you're within S35 realm -- that's really a milestone (E :-) :-) Indeed. My reference to these small Panasonic lenses is the quality of the glass. Amazing for the price!
  17. No Chris, not my craft. I am not upset as I could tell you answering your friendly PM. As written, no worries. I also think I can disclose a bit the content of your message which clearly hints you've actually recommended that same lens, so not exactly a divergence unites us on that one : ) My point is to clear up the topic, no other : ) I am usually one of the jokers over here so why shouldn't I be second your mood there, isn't it? : D We come to these boards for making friends among the members not to fight on topics, no matter we may diverge or not (E :-)
  18. Yes, I also know "the cheaper longer version of that lens" aka usual Panasonic kit lens. No need to be legendary but also far to be crappy, as well : ) Low light and shallow DOF don't necessarily need to be photographic paramount either, even though shallow DOF is possible to achieve following the right instructions. Fast apertures obviously help but, it is not the only way to find it :-)
  19. I don't know that lens for such gross statement... But, for the goodness sake of it, can you point me any example where you may substantially testify that one? To each focal length, glass behaves distinctly as usually happens. Different strokes for different folks is more the norm, isn't it? Or no colors in a plain B&W world, is that your shot? You know, I think we should all be eagering to hear from each other. Better facts than mere opinions though ;-)
  20. LOL Before or after he had started to review Sony gear more often as he's used to show off nowadays...?! hehe ; ) I don't care, mate. He has already failed to address some other suggestions I even had the patience to ask him to test (Panasonic AF related IIRC) so I already have my judgement for the subject matter. I'll hardly change my opinion on topic. At times, some practices happen because they're competitors. Some other times, it is a way to push some party of our inner circle to be more involved and committed with us... A subtle form for raising the bar? (No one likes to have their work underestimated : D It happens ; )) I am usually very skeptical to take as granted things people make when they keep up appearances. Well, reality goes deeper than them (that is, if my non-native English makes any sense : ) Nice find and argument @Kisaha BTW :-)
  21. "Long" time ago, you said @Kisaha...?! Ah OK, right... ; ) Can I be labeled Fuji fanboy for reacting against unfairness practice over Fujifilm cameras? It is for the side of my bed where I dream the best (here's one of the reasons why LOL ; )) Never mind... The same you're able to find from my keyboard when it is Samsung or any other player to earn my respect and appreciation to be allocated on the same table :-)
  22. My very straightforward impression on that video under M.Y. signature... (Well, following other comments of my own about the same BTW) Would that vlogger act in the same way on any flaws of a camera designed, made and commercialized by Sony...? With that conclusive YT title there?! Any doubts out there...? Really!? :X Frankly, I'd rather be wrong on that one but I honestly don't believe I am : ( Bias is invariably a bitch... E.
  23. To be inexpensive doesn't mean it is crappy... you know?
