Does tap-to-focus work with SpeedBooster + Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 too?
-
On G7, it can work out... Maybe a matter of habit or taste? : ) Any signs of hunting in any of both MF and AF modes? Thanks for your input :-)
-
Indeed. But, there are midways. As much as certain usage such as gimbal work, one-person show... :-)
-
Have you tested tap-to-focus in both AF and MF modes?
-
Have you checked the settings for tap-to-focus? Perhaps a sweet spot may save the grace in order to prevent any hunting? I also find tap-to-focus pretty useful and a midway between AF and manual. Also possible to go from AFC and MF, so maybe with different results?

Even going with 22mm (some other reports mention vignetting until 21mm), it is (*0,64) = 14,08 *1,28 = 18,0224 FF equivalent, so the XL version is actually a no-brainer anyways :-)
-
Exactly. XL is all the way to go once beyond an extra 1/3 stop, you get more or less the same focal length at least, if not even wider -- 16 against 19 (FF equivalent): (18mm * 0,64 = 11,52 * 1,28 = 14,7456** with vignetting, but) 20mm * 0,64 = 12,8 * 1,28 = 16,384** without vignetting (according to some reports) 25mm * 0,64 = 16 * 1,28 = 20,48** without vignetting On Ultra without vignetting: 18mm * 0,72 = 12,96 * 1,48 = 19,1808** On the other end, you can lose zoom range with: 35mm * 0,64 = 22,4 * 1,28 = 28,672** against: 35mm * 0,72 = 25,2 * 1,48 = 37,296** Nothing a pretty affordable 50mm f/1.4 (1 stop faster then) won't solve: 50mm * 0,64 = 32 * 1,28 = 40,96** ** FF 35mm format equivalent :-)

Externally, it is possible to record 10-bit 4:2:2 4K60p, yes indeed. From now on.
-
A bit faster or much faster? 1) For higher than 4K resolution? 2) And for work in batch? https://www.smashingmagazine.com/2008/10/15-useful-batch-image-processors/ http://www.dummies.com/photography/digital-photography/types-of-photography/batch-process-multiple-hdr-image-files/

Will look forward to follow up your testing! Interesting to follow it under distinct circumstances such as low light and poor contrast setup, obviously. Without hunting, tap-to-focus can shut up the FUD spread a bit all over internet against one of the most lovely pieces of hardware and cameras ever produced.
-
You can even handle it going with tap-to-focus; mobile app can be really handy.
-
I always bet on hybrid stuff... cameras, modes (AF, that is, but based on touchscreen focus for sure and MF too, oh yeah, no machine will decide where focus is better than me ; ) But, you still have marvelous 4K/60p, count on it! :-)
-
Man, you need to test it. Pretty useful. Who cares for full AF after then? A machine can't beat the man. That's the whole point.

@funkyou86, I am wondering on tap-to-focus accuracy able to be free of any hunting as due, if you're willing to add your findings under different circumstances might be pretty useful: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?353740-GH5-AF-request-for-a-test-(for-checking-accuracy-speed-smoothness-and-hunting) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dpec03JocuE&lc=z125ixbpivbtsvptw23jjznhrmu2zfggb04.1492095482744934 http://www.eoshd.com/comments/topic/24076-gh5-focus-excellence/?do=findComment&comment=190866 No GH5 here, yet.

Seems a frigo! (Portuguese word for fridge :-) Is that a Canon Plotter? LOL Is it the most powerful solution these days or any other suggestion? Gracias amigo!
-
Exactly my point. Reason why we should all fight for killing the misinformation over there and absolutely, name all the incompetents to feed up FUD in great scale, in the name of what?!
-
Seems, it is not available in that mode. In any case, try to see the tap-to-focus feature (AFC mode).
-
Might you add the full list of components for that hardware combo? Links, if possible, they could also be rather helpful. Thanks :-)
-
You can always correct it on touchscreen going with tap-to-focus, once it seems to accurately work on both AF and MF. Without mention @post on editing... :-D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dpec03JocuE&lc=z125ixbpivbtsvptw23jjznhrmu2zfggb04.1492093607236256 "i was using the continuous af to tap to focus, i was using the pany 12-35mm 2.8 at f2.8, the 15-20 times i tapped back and fourth i didnt notice any hunting"
-
Go on SpeedBooster Ultra and XL and you'll end just fine on S35/APS-C and even FF looks, respectively. Nice report on touchscreen for focus as finest workaround to somehow overcome eventual AF limitations, thanks for your welcome entry :-)

Here is an example. Seems from Canon's mobile app. Panasonic has also one from their own. But this can obviously be done from camera LCD:
