I don't think better chroma subsampling or color depth will help it at all. To be 4:2:0 or 4:2:2, 8-bit or 10-bit may end the same for that purpose, I bet. I wouldn't say the same about bitrate, though. As well, post tools and other tricks as you mentioned and I had posted in that video two posts earlier. As same as other resources. Let's stay at optical 'improvement' period for the subject matter, I guess ;-) Take a look in the differences from 1600 to 3200 ISO, so the secret with this device is to keep it under control. Actually, as happens with all cameras. With a difference here: up to ISO1600 for acceptable response.

Motion can be a bit different of it, maybe less noticeable but hardly easier.

Yes, as said in the first post. I'd actually love to confirm our best hopes may happen. I'm afraid the things can only be worse, though. Video versus stills...?? I'm really sorry. IMHO seems more a PITA if there's another girl to pick up in a special dating; unless bitrate (more than 10-bit as I recall an old discussion with you some time ago) + a change on their approach to the whole high ISOs processing thing could save the grace, if not, a pity as first call. Well, good lighting seems pretty recommendable and truly fair. Otherwise, no way. Light is always key, even for low light and use of high ISO settings, I do bet and stand because we all know photography will never be made of only a bit of the cake but everything must count there. May motion be a bit different of it. Here goes a sample of that, including post:

Marketing stinks. Hybrid concept, not much. But sticks it anyway.

I do firmly believe the most part of us here can only concur with your two cents there : ) My other two and leitmotiv for POV of this thread is only to point out the fact: 4/3" sensor size by Panasonic seems to not match its competitors, the sister Olympus included, at least; as it should be supposed to be, I guess. Lame chance for the new toy : ( But, to be able to beat any other camera in the right hands? But anyone doubts? A camera is not only high ISOs, fancy NR algorithms or stupid marketing strategy trying to mimic the other Sony girl. I also want to believe that internal 10-bit 4:2:2, 4K/60p (not internal@4:2:2), etc is a proof of solid mature attitude to defy the major players outside and break the waves pushing the envelope further. I just think pretty immature all this NR nonsense. For once and ever, there's nothing videoish about grainy outcome, but filmic! Truly disappointing from their own to my book.

On that one, you are partially right, Kisaha. You didn't see me to quote the last toy from the a6000 series in the same line as in the professional category since I believe they see full frame mirrorless camera as the 'hybrid professional tools' ; ) no worries on that, man. I am not used to post in the Sony forums ;-) In any case, I wouldn't dare myself to write the same about... the professional outcome a competent shooter can have, from such tiny 8-bit device. That one by Sony; the same for GH series, NX and so on. I won't even call it 4:2:0 one, once you can reach higher than that through HDMI. Even though, F900 was 8-bit 3:1:1. And the 'professional king' for 100x more, albeit for less IQ :P BTW, I don't give a shit to the professionals here, there and everywhere. To me, it strictly counts the perspective on the artistic potential of the brush. Here is against the other one (both from GH5 beta unit now): I stand the same conclusions. If not a post production in-camera trick though, sensor department doesn't help either against the remainder competitors, I guess. Seems jonpais nailed it when pointed out the 4/3" sensor size limitations.

Feel free to change the title as mod : ) In any case, the idea would actually be ironic, as matter of fact, as you exactly said: "Maybe they are the same thing"... ;-) The more they try beat Sony going on a post production trick in-camera rather than the acquisition side, the more they fail to succeed it in the professional camp.
-
Seems...? : ) They DO produce them: ...such a pity, if they don't fix this bogus. May happen to be acceptable in the consumer realm; crappy for serious usage. BTW @Kisaha, that grainy a6500 sample's outcome doesn't bother me at all. The more I see from that Sony device, the more I like.

GH5 vs a6500 @6400 ISO GH5 vs EM1II @6400 ISO Stills, but... :-( Source: http://www.imaging-resource.com/news/2017/02/14/panasonic-gh5-beta-first-shots

Focus transition mode (in the end of the video) seems pretty useful! :-)

Hey Kisaha and me? ; ) In Portugal or abroad, but Portuguese forever! : ) Rodolfo, FNAC, Media Markt... (Funchal?) Worten, etc EstudioPT idem (Paulo Silva, OK; Pedro Silva *thumbs down*), in 15 dias/days -> PayPal ;-) a6500 = 2017 *thumbs up* (NX1 < 2017) Abraço luso (I'm sorry but seems odd to me to strictly address myself in a foreign language, to whom speaks my mother language) Emanuel :-)

Well, maybe tap to focus may be not so bad route, after all, I'd say...
-
ah OK, my bad then, I am used to watch the footage without sound at all -- daily rushes habit... Thanks for the heads up, mate! :-)
-
True. That last shot looks like made on a steadicam... But it's handheld, folks! WOW What a piece of technology! A consumer camera, WTH...

With such Vlog filmmaking vibe nowadays on lazy YT viewers, Griffith must be spinning most likely in the grave... Anyways, here is an interesting low light outcome from a lightweight device I am sure D. W. would love to have it in his days -- from 3:17, 6:23 and 8:53, respectively:

Nice to know, thanks mate :-) Some expectations over here on a new Osmo. It would be nice to listen about a release for soon.

Like cooking, need to bake the footage ; ) Like love, a plant needs lot of care. Like life, stomach won't fill up with water nor alcohol all the time. Neither love. Filmmaking is not love making but certain rules apply ;-) Sorry for so strikingly technical reply... :-))

Post production can help indeed.

You know Simo, as someone said, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts... ; ) Saluti e Buon Anno, E :-)

Right :-)

Sure, I concur. I just don't think the opposite is not possible to coexist as much as a few people want the proof of it à la Saint Thomas. But, if faith can be subjective, 'the big concept' cinematic goes beyond because can be quantifiable by numbers. The evaluation of them is its subjective part. “The opposite of a great truth is also true.” ~ Niels Bohr

Right, so how isn't the motion cadence quantifiable?! First off, frame rate is quantifiable. Even a certain-chosen-one such as 24 frames per second is -- there's no one 24fps, 'several 24fps' apply. That is, let it alone when other variables pop up. Cinematic outcome is a match of it.
