We've been in touch through private messaging during this pandemic period but we haven't seen his posts so much over this family more recently ; ) However seems he's restarting to make our days better with his thoughts available to all once again : ) Love this guy! @webrunner5

I love combos : ) Well, isn't filmmaking all about that, after all? ; ) 4K resolution coupled to vintage glass looks like to my eyes a perfect one :- ) Lovely imagerie @kye!
-
What a cinematographer : ) And what a device! @Phil Holland please address my kudos and personal satisfaction to my good old friend Jarred :- )
-
On the spot ; ) you're like Port wine, mate, the older the better ;- )

No, I think you have that mindset... You know good POVs of other people contribute for deeper insights of ourselves : ) P4K is able of that contribution IMO : ) For some reason they've called it a Pocket camera! : D

Go ahead, fellow, love your stories and reflections about it BTW :- ) PS: Sounded to me a bit digitally Shakespearean my tone now but anyway... PPS : D I knew I had listened it somewhere: https://shakespeare.sayit.mysociety.org/speech/546140 Without this kind of posting our world would be a much colder place in fact :- )

OnePlus 9 Pro. I will try with the previous processor going along the superb ASUS Zenfone 7 Pro (both are able of 8K 30p and 4K 120fps recording). But, I would not hold my breath too long with smartphone manufacturers... Their motion picture sensibility is the same of someone who doesn't know where the local movie theater is : D Their interface shooting is a truly PITA for filmmaking in 99% of cases, unfortunately. - EAG

PS: Reboot or retart the app, I mean, not the device... It goes all of a sudden lower than its standard 4000 wide (aspect ratio is fully customizable... where else you find it, humm?) when you play and give much use to extract the best from the intuitive menus along the most recent beta version as of today. Some control on WB other than auto mode you can block anyway wouldn't hurt either at all. Ingenious piece of software and for free! ;- )

I've been testing it here with a few devices... Very interesting user interface, as Spartan as I like it : ) But, the more processing power the better, I don't recommend old slow chips, it doesn't make sense, for the sake of it, the newer and top the better : ) Works like a charm, incredible tool, fairly filmmaking friendly as expected IMO ; ) I just detect a bug so far but if you reboot it you're fine : )) I only miss faster frame rates other than 24/25/30... but you have slower range for your joy experiments so very eclectic, one of my fav apps so far < 3 @Andrew Reid what about an article about it, pal? :- )

Sony cancel production of A7C, A6600 and a professional camcorder
Emanuel replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
BTW I feel sorry for that a7C, that's a hell of a small form factor device... With only one year life cycle released within the pandemic period itself? Makes little to no sense... -

Great article, Andrew, glad to see you back in action : ) No one reviews this camera industry as you, mate :- ) -
Nice to see you back still alive and kicking! Lovely country landscape BTW, I'm also proud of and fairly miss, part of everyone who have made the British culture part of themselves : ) Merry Christmas and the best 2022 to you and your family :- ) - EAG

I obviously agree with everything you wrote, Marty : ) No new sensors will change that once the revolution is already made in the meantime. No need to say this place is the proof of it. Nothing will change the need of funding and distribution. The point is that both are much different today. Digital age has opened many other gates you could only dream before. Hey I speak by myself, started more than 25 years ago into old school film and look at where I am now with many international productions running at the same time : )) That was rather impossible just a decade and a half ago :- )

Yeah, I'm afraid the whole transformation of this business is putting too many heads upside down. On the other hand, I think arthouse has gained much more than losing jobs anyway and affordable technology is kicking asses and taking names as ever before : ) You don't need to kiss someone's ass anymore to shoot at the mainstream film look as it was then. The time has come with or without double stacked sensors on small form factor devices ;- )

I guess our mate up there had focused on the impact the smartphone evolution may produce on this craft. The fact is new competition brings both a fresh way of producing motion pictures either on new players looking for the same audiences but not an equivalent content nor production values or the consequences coming from there and the whole impact in the labour force participation and employment ratios of current industry workers. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CWqMmvYgTL1/ In Portuguese, the woman says she is a lovely woman because of her eyes, she is still able to attract any man in her country... :- )

https://gopro.com/pt/br/news/hero10-black-firmware-update-v1-2 Firmware update v1.2 for HERO10 Black is available starting today and enables new features and recording options to unlock even more creative options for HERO10 Black owners. New features include support for GoPro’s Max Lens Mod super-wide angle lens accessory, support for GoPro’s legendary in-camera SuperView digital lens all the way up to 5.3K60 video and support for 24 frames per second video—a favorite of film and television producers. HERO10 Black owners can update their cameras using the Quik app. Benefits include: Max Lens Mod with 2.7K 4:3 settings: Max Lens Mod is an ultra-wide angle lens accessory for HERO10 and HERO9 Black cameras. It enables incredibly wide, distortion-free video, referred to as Max SuperView, as well as the ultimate in-video stabilization, aptly named Max HyperSmooth, with optional full 360˚ horizon lock. And with HERO10 Black, Max Lens Mod enables 2.7K60 video in both 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios for hands down the widest, most stable POV shots possible. 5.3K SuperView Digital Lens: GoPro’s widest, most immersive in-camera digital lens is now available at 5.3K60 on HERO10 Black. At 5.3K60, SuperView captures your point-of-view at a stunningly high resolution and frame rate which results in a “you feel like you’re there” visual experience. SuperView is a favorite of those looking to capture their activity as they remember seeing it—only better. 24 Frames Per Second Video: 24 frames per second video is a favorite of film and television producers, and HERO10 Black now supports 24 frames per second at 5.3K, 5K, 4K and 1080p video resolutions.

I think it can work for computational acquisition and all the remaining stuff... : ) But they still have to work hard to mimic our exposure triangle properly as you fairly say. They're a pain to use today other than the pocket small form factor : X Let alone the production values mantra which will stand no matter the tech evolves ;- )

Yeah, I read it : ) And basically the same has been said a little bit everywhere... To my view, aside the marketing thing, I guess we have no reason to be pessimist beyond the actual trend the many the better :- )

...a matter of time or as further business toss-up, well, for some reason people drive their questions through interrogation marks ; ) Here's petapixel's guys by Jaron Schneider: «Sony doesn’t specify when it plans to manufacture sensors at scale using this technology but does say it will continue to iterate on the design to further increase image quality in sensors large and small.» source We tend to immediately read one after the other for Sony's large sensor size tradition but seems we can't separate the waters for much time longer... ;- )

No worries, kye, you're not the only one : ) reason why these forums serve I guess, people come here to share and put the discussion in progress ; ) I also inferred the same and looked like some interesting add-on to obviously benefit "all camera types" as you wrote. Although, if there is who already is playing with the idea even if only on photo side as Nikon, I think we can estimate it will happen to electronics as well, just a matter of time. The tweet is coming from this Sony's press release from last Thursday: https://www.sony-semicon.co.jp/e/news/2021/2021121601.html Sony Develops World’s First* Stacked CMOS Image Sensor Technology with 2-Layer Transistor Pixel Widens Dynamic Range and Reduces Noise by Approximately Doubling Saturation Signal Level * As of announcement on December 16, 2021.

LOL Not all! Those to offer high-resolution acquisition! ; ) hahaha Jokes aside : D I love the potentiality of those machines where the best camera is the one able to fit your pocket! : ) Oh well, and the challenge behind to extract a decent outcome from there ;- )
-
Indeed and that's how overrated this can be... : ) Even though, except for certain applications where this race can bring anything new to the human race : D well, jokes aside, obviously conditioned to our own physiology :- ) No idea if that already has happened with you but I've already seen myself to use the smartphone's high-resolution camera to see what my eyes can't reach... since my 2012 Nokia 808 PureView at least (still in office even today*): * with both ASUS Zenfone 7 Pro and OnePlus 9 Pro
