  1. Hope manual controls at OnePlus 9 Pro/Hasselblad IQ level: *fingerscrossed*
  2. Well, at least either way he can always end lighter than the poor back of the cameraman using the new DJI toy... : D Disclaimer: BTW I love DJI tools! (EAG :- )
  3. Yes, there are. But, the substantial differences are not even about the shooters behind or back to the camera... The key differences are all about the ideas and the way the people going with cameras are able to produce ; ) That's where form factor has a role to play : ) As much as budget. Expensive stuff won't necessarily make a film better. Neither money. EAG :- )
  4. No idea what such distinction means... No idea either what Nouvelle Vague filmmakers or Tonino Guerra, I personally heard from his own voice to call (to mirrorless devices or consumer camcorders then) the future of cinema to "these Japanese cameras", would have to add on topic... ; ) But something I know though ; )) thanks to God there are shooters who make art without the need of hefty paraphernalia such 4.67Kg is... to just show off "filmmaking" skills for making Marvel movies... LOL :- )
  5. I still think under the $5000 mark would have been a hit :- )
  6. Here's a particular elucidative test vividly recommended on the capabilities of the most affordable offer and best 4K 120fps capture device option on budget today, that is, until Osmo Action 2 will arrive just in a few days :- )
  7. As Osmo Pocket 2 lover, I find this bloody cinematic mode experience curious enough to testify how softer lower resolution can overcome a detailed outcome anyway. And here's another comparison with the same devices beyond the cinematic mode on iPhone, despite to fail testing the main camera instead for low light shooting. In short and usual, to each its own ;- )
  8. I'd love to be as optimistic as this guy is on his RAM needs... : D
  9. A dream of a camera but expensive in a miniaturized world nowadays, countercyclical for a brand such as DJI ; ) a temptation no matter what anyway ;- )
  10. Very interesting release : ) Maybe this will be my 4th mobile unit purchased this year? LOL :- )
  11. Interesting reflection about what expects us in the coming years, not exactly because of the shallow DOF option but its easier access/manoeuvre and the gates to be opened then : ) Well, I'd say they surely receive this year's most relevant high-tech award for their 2021 releases. In my case, I will buy two products of Apple for the first time ever, so go figure which and why ;- )
  12. No, if you'll buy it locally for people also based in the States : ) Because in Europe the prices are outrageously higher, so you're pretty accurate : )) Without mention VAT where the State and politicians live from our own expenses 1/5 to 1/4 of our year, let alone the other taxes to eat from a third to three quarters of our income and labor :- (
  13. Fully agreed on both paragraphs, very well elaborated! : ) Texture is something indeed and that's what makes it unique and where the difference resides :- ) Filmmaking is a combo. - EAG
  14. I follow and partially agree with you but it's hard to say the things are as much night and day as your last statement infers LOL : ) I've seen myself higher resolution copies on delivery projected at the big screen and they're nothing but fairly "cinematic", no matter how many more pixels they have, viewers don't run away from them ;- )
  15. M1 Max is 3500 bucks (about €3000) in the States... Irresistible! :- )
  16. This seems to most of part us I believe truly exciting... Well, let's test it! ;- )
  17. To my eyes seems pretty clear to me that depends on the operator... Or circumstantial use. No more no less. *Apple :- )
  18. Stuff doesn't need to be lower res to look like cinematic. And yes, higher resolution, more details, etc. help post-production. As much as something doesn't necessarily have to be "cinematic" to be appreciated, I (can only and obviously) second it : ) That said, composition can result in something much more cinematic than resolution, DOF or some other visual aspect per se.
  19. I didn't even say I liked or disliked this or that sample, to be labeled by myself as "cinematic" either. They call it. Apples calls their new gimmick in the same way and you've launched the discussion I actually think fits perfectly well here :- )
  20. It's not only shallow DOF is about. And "cinematic" is not only what images look like... In any case, I guess everyone will concur people will be happier when a smartphone outcome "looks like the images from larger, better, nicer cameras" ; ) despite it's true there's a trend to people "have forgotten what cinematic images actually look like" ! I only notice people in these boards tend to focus too much all about form, cinematography... And to end "cinematic" is far more than only that. Crucial but... Just as an provocative example: what about cinematic sound? Do we also need much substantial larger and expensive acquisition devices for? ;- )
  21. Yes, Marvel is nothing about video-like, but "something" pretending to be cine-like. That is, if we're willing to ignore many different approaches on what "cinematic" may mean ;- ) - EAG
  22. Well, Marvel goes directly to the big screen if not to get IMAX releases, indies dream with streaming, classics on YT, so I wouldn't surprise myself about. There's such a plurality of perspectives to see as matter of fact : D What is "cinematic" nowadays after all? ;- )
  23. We have to redefine the meaning of the expression "cinematic" today, subordinated to an obsession for detail or a mere set of fancy gimmicks. When the art of filmmaking is the art of hiding and revealing. There are no more DoPs, they're called now DoCP ;- ) - EAG
