Canon EOS R5 / R6 overheating timers, workarounds, and Magic Lantern

Done, by suggestion of our webmaster, let's focus here for the overheating hassle : ) Still wondering if this cannot help the overheating issue coupled to an aluminium cage... -
This is coming from the main R5 thread: Manufacturer's webpage link: Some additional accessory suggested by an useful tip from our user member's entry @Jn-. And here are the last contributions to the talk:

To buy and use their dedicated reader is much more handy than the SSD removal from enclosure for sure. Thanks for the heads up @Jn- : ) No, you don't use "their reader in the place of their SSD enclosure", you'll use their reader to read the data from the SSD inside their enclosure :- ) -
Even something for 300/400 bucks coupled to free camera2API do the trick much better... I think only 4K120fps can be the news up there... Let's wait and see, Sony doesn't convince me for years except with their sensors when used by others. Sad but rather true because they only focus on their high-end, to my view, even worse than others (Cannot ; )

Thanks for the accuracy and your entries, guys, that's what I guessed yesterday when the stereographer (who has worked with Peter Greenaway too) sent me the link (he is aware of this our thread), but my best bet is still the Z Cam for 3D acquisition -- AFAIK the only one from their offer to have 10-Pin LEMO Sync: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1442842-REG/z_cam_e1503_e2_professional_4k_cinematic.html/specs

http://achtel.com/9x7/ 9x7 Camera features state-of-the-art back-side illuminated (BSI), APS-H sized sensor with true global shutter and capable of high frame rates (HFR) up to 70 fps at full resolution. 9.3K x 7K 4:3 ratio @70fps, not bad, humm? : X Perfect IMAX 3D capture device? ;- ) *cough cough* : D

The same principle that modder fellow up there posted in the previous page from Zitay website... And Andrew has been saying a few posts earlier in the same page: Aluminium cage would help to spread and refrain the issue. -

Yes, that faster performance won't affect the current needs except for two reasons IMHO I'd sincerely love to see some other experts to comment without secondary interpretations : D Extra use other than R5 (once again, my needs are not yours and vice versa) as future proof as well but I wonder if it won't benefit in terms of overheating...? Well, thanks for your heads-up rolling in private messages. Once public, here I am. No offense taken up there. No pun intended to people we cannot have a single idea who they are (I guess this works both ways or even multilayered when we have many users around, distinct experiences, core business and so on) because as said, the world is yet too big despite this damned pandemic and we ain't all Hollywood characters : D Yup, I found it strange that (external) quote and such level of certainty from people I've never heard about and from my lack of background on that I let it hear from people with more knowledge than myself. As simple as that. Not necessarily to endorse anything I can't stand for the same reasons I see any activity or craft on earth as a cooperative process in the same field. Not else. Misunderstandings happen (non-native language speakers, etc) but they stop to occur in all the goodwill when we see some general words strictly in a literal sense if we refuse to admit them or that we can collaborate for information and healthy fun, any other? -

There's a new kid on the block... just launched to follow Samsung's 980 Pro announcement and actually is the fastest drive of its class to come and be available very soon (price TBA): http://reviewcentralme.com/2020/09/01/sabrent-unleashes-rocket-4-plus-the-worlds-fastest-pcie-4-0-nvme-ssd/ I guess heatsink is somehow removable so can be adapted to the Zitay adapter, even though overheating handling is everything a Canon user can ask for these days... -

There's also another one I find it rather interesting straight there: Technology over technique produces emotionless design ~ Daniel Mall And still speaking of high rankings : D here's more valuable information on topic: https://ssd.userbenchmark.com/ With different results compared the 970 Evo Plus vs Rocket 4: https://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Samsung-970-Evo-Plus-NVMe-PCIe-M2-1TB-vs-Sabrent-Rocket-4-NVMe-PCIe-M2-1TB/m693540vsm844208 Any thoughts from real (f)actual users? : ) -

I couldn't take a proper reading yet on your post... Sunday afternoon, daylight, family journey, you know ; ) Just here to let you know I am sincerely grateful to your contribution to our craft. I don't have a R5 either for my cats and flowers but from your input, I am buying a body unit to couple extra glass, so how couldn't I express my thanks? Accept my gratitude please, oh boy, how couldn't I listen you? Isn't a forum like this one the ideal place to promote a discussion? Hard to find tiptop modders (don't call it hack) of such category to help us to break the rules of the business. Accept my hat tip or you won't help my sleep tonight with your smileys : P I just want to have you here actively posting so mission accomplished < 3 Do not shoot before to ask, that serves for both geeks and filmmakers. On my entries, if you'll do your search, you'll be able to find some of them in several streaming platforms if you had no luck to have a TV network to schedule it nearby you. You know the world is too big (belly button is poor as compass). Film festival circuit is a bit restricted in their selection as much as their filmmaker invitees and so on. Let alone attendees, looks like people spend more time browsing today and other minor activity than much more productive stuff indeed. I concur, fine art nobody wants to see is a common place for morons, who else? LOL : X Let's focus on your highest ranking tips and add-ons (c'mon man, you've saved my Canon glass collection!), much appreciated for those you've teased up with your findings. I'm eager to see more from you instead. No worries, dude, all my (reciprocal) love to share with you. PS: I solemnly declare from now on to do my committed research on your personal blog and alike, next time I will dare to claim your presence to comment another absurd opinion of some other anonymous poster here or from somewhere else! Promise made (E :- ) -

As another note, once my 5-minutes period to edit my post is over, so... (CONT'D) Something to frankly annoy me is the way techie or geek people easily show a condescending tone to filmmakers when we filmmakers tend to see it in a full cooperative standpoint, even because we are who afford this whole industry to life. There are no different sides over here, we share all the same for good. -

970 Evo Plus is clearly the way to go, price-wise included: https://techtestreport.com/samsung-970-evo-vs-970-evo-plus-vs-970-pro-which-is-the-best/ BTW seems plain obvious to me, you have zero clue about to whom you addressed those words as well the intention of my post up there... I stand my prior notes to express my thanks to you, because I actually succeeded to see you adding a new post to comment it ;- ) -
Yeah, sad to see, but use the mod, seems that's the only alternative we have... A bunch of greedy retards these people from there are. I am also done with them. They deserve our disdain no matter what. I love their tools but when I talk to them I am used to tell them what I think of their supply for good and bad. I suggest everyone to do the same : ) When we give them our hard earned money, we're entitled to demand service from their side. A piece of crap is what their policies are. And their fanboys can go to the hell. - E.
