Hey Ebrahim, listen I have been a fan of your posts for the past couple years. They made me look at tech and craft in a new light. I never even knew there were supposedly two of you. I appreciate you are making attempts to right this wrong with the 3 people directly affected by your actions, but you must understand that your words had a lot of credibility on this site... so you cannot blame the forum for being interested and invested with these events. So, in a lot of ways we are all victims of this scam. There is an unwritten trust in these forums and unfortunately you have yet to answer the basic of questions. I think if you were to answer, HONESTLY, the following couple questions, it may clear up some things for some of the members...
1. Does your grandfather exist in the capacity he was represented in this forum?
2. Does you or your grandfather have the first hand knowledge with all of these cameras, or was it theoretical at best and in some instances just a lot copy and pasting?
3. Do you truly admit to scamming these people, or are you just admitting to it, because you feel bullied and you are just telling the forum what it wants to hear to end the ridicule?
4. If you did perform this scam, then why? Your last excuse does not add up, in fact, almost everything you have said since the beginning of this does not add up, so what is the REAL TRUTH?
5. What gives you the right to believe that you can con hundreds of people into believing you are something that you are not and then steal money from members of this forum and other forums and then think that we should just drop it because all of the sudden you are claiming to do the right thing?
Answer these questions and I will stop posting in this thread... honestly your stories are getting quite boring now anyway but I believe we deserve the right to know the truth.

I doubt he's been planning the scam for years. It's far more likely in my opinion that he's been on the forum as a contributor and realized one day recently that he'd be able to get some money. A few thousand dollars is a lot of money to a young person in Egypt, as he's already admitted.
Just a dumb guy trying to make a fast buck.
 

Indeed. Interesting reading. Complex character, he is.

His presence as before, for sure. On the leftover, only him and Andrew can put their own wording on it. We should never ostracize a brother of us, especially when he is in trouble and gives us signs of problems where we can give a hand. I bet he needs more our help than this community is interested to give him. That said, it will be more failure of this community than anyone else, aside his sad contribution. But we're speaking about future, past is the one over now.

Indeed, one of the brightest posts over here as same as this last one from Lee Kelly. Scammer's fault to begin with, anyway. He also had the chance to not enroll himself in more nonsense and he was very sloppy against himself. Reason why I think this community should have been more alert to make the right choices. It hasn't helped him at all. Neither lack of mercy on his confession. Innocents? Where are they??

The breathtaking part of this though is how consistent, knowledgable and prolific "Ebrahim Jnr" has been. Quite stunning really. Crazy achievement. 
I'm disappointed to see though, despite everything, this entire thread contains aliasing and moire. Can't have everything. 
 
 
 

Ebrahim, if you are thinking of suicide, don't because that is silly and this is not that big a deal to anyone in this community.
But you and your family need to sit down and have a talk, because our support does not matter. What matters is that your elders need to find you some kind of legal representation to guide you through paying the money back and to also find you counseling, like, tomorrow.
Coming forward was the first step, but as an adult that is not enough. You need to follow through and make sure things do not get worse for you from a legal and mental perspective.
Other than that, I wouldn't beat yourself up, we have all been there. I apologise if I was was unsympathetic to you, but I have lived in Africa for most of my life and WAAAY too much personal information has been revealed in this thread, so you guys have to be careful now. Even the authorities are not really the authorities, and I know you know what I mean by that.
I hope you and your family recover from this horrible ordeal.

scam is always like this, waisting your time telling you some "mom" or "sister" thing. I've dealed with one recently and it was same thing. Except only things i lost was my time and hope to sell my gear locally.
The only great thing about this topic is that community is reacted and trying to protect itself. Keep this topic and ask for confirmation of sending that rangefinder to anyone it was promised. Or everything that ull get will be another scam deal with the same rangefinder.
And correct me if i wrong but here's a thing to keep in mind - in many eastern cultures its a honor to fool someone (just take a look at their childrens fairy tails). ES themself is pointing on difference between his and "west" worlds.

Emanuel, he's probably an undiagnosed pathological or compulsive liar.
This is a real, medical condition.  
I'm sure the sister's story is false.  But that doesn't mean we can now keep attacking him while he is in a very fragile emotional state.
Yes he brought this upon himself by stealing thousands of dollars, but now, we can get, without the corrupt Egyptian police the end goal : money back to those he scammed.
Isn't that the end goal?
Or do you want to see him rot in an Egyptian jail?
Or get disavowed from his family.
Use empathy.
Understand he's in Egypt, they have a different set of rules.
How would you feel if he killed himself?  Or went to jail?
Would you feel better?
No, revenge is fleeting.  At first it feels great, but then after a while, you feel like a D-bag and regret what you did when you were younger.

Good for you Ebrahim on confessing. I just want to say that since you're part of this community ,if you were in a tough spot and needed some help we would've done whatever possible to help you out. I know that we could've gathered a group to donate. Same goes to anyone in the future. If you can prove the situation to be real.

Ed, what does tell you that the sister story is more true than the rest. He can spell line skipping but won't say abortion. It's an easy way to find empathy. If he just had said, damnit, I wanted a c300, I would give my life over it, which kidney do I sell (quote instagram), It would have been better.

If this were his only lie (the actual scam) it would at least be plausible, but when your whole persona is a fake, that's another story.
His 1500 honor penis points show that he was liked in the forum. He could have asked for anything.
Anyway, good luck to the scammed.

Im pretty sure Ebrahims face was recorded on the security cams of WU.(as every WU store has a security camera, yes even in egypt)

Let's be good citizens here. OP has been an example for all of us, so let's honour his input all the time : ) Ebrahim is just a young fellow, practically a teenager yet, who only needs to be considered like that. He can have a promising future in front of his own path. My thoughts and bets on it. No one here wants to see him down, right? :-)

Ebrahim, so sad you don't see that you are the only one here to not see it... Come on, don't you get it? This victimization route won't help you out but on the contrary. The longer, the more painful is and whatever means your reputation to you. Don't let this going even more down the hill. Snowball is getting bigger.

Be careful, dude! You're somehow entering in dangerous quicksand. It was/is surely a crime! No one can mislead a third party (THE REAL victims over there, in a classic scam case whether you have the Eiffel Tower for sale or whether not) and trying to play the law-expert-fellas part, come to unashamedly say that "there's no evidence because the money received actually wasn't counterfeited, therefore, it can perfectly be fulfilled as income directly into the tax statement and safely rest in the bank account..."
 
Do you follow my analogy here? ; ) There's also room for the KISS* principle, even technically/legally speaking.
 
Refund the guys and put an end to this whole embarrasing situation and a shame for this community! Not well deserved at all by years of healthy motivation on endless articles and Andrew's hard work. IMO, I'd even dare to say, neither your country/culture/people nor the quality of your posts written from your user account. A community like EOSHD takes years to form with.
 
Trust these friendly words, coming from a law graduate for 2 decades now, conferred by more than 7 centuries of law school as historical background in those solid walls for such demanding exams you were not born yet. That is, once you are 19 years old, right? ;-)

Ebrahim, I do not understand why people have not been refunded yet. If your family has so much money and the amount of the scam is peanuts for you, why don't you go and refund them immediately? It will take you less than an hour to wire the money back to them. Your responses saying that you are thinking about sending the actual lens if they decide who should receive them sound ridiculous (sorry to say that) and it seems like a scammer talk. So, please stop. It is becoming very difficult to try to persuade the mob to give you the benefit of the doubt. Worse yet when you say you have a kind of army to defend yourself as if you lived in a bunker or when you say that the scam is not a crime in Egypt. It is just beyond ridiculous.

I must say, I was a little disappointed by some of the condescending posts in this thread. The guy was just passing on a safety notice about particular lenses that have a cult following but could actually be quite dangerous to young organs. He wasnt trying to sell a product to protect anyone or any other kind of promotion and was arrogantly cut down by enthusiasts (at best) when he actually took a more scientific approach and was acting on advice from people who specialise in radioactivity. 
Regardless of what else in this world gives us similar values of exposure, I dont think this info was handled very maturely. You guys could have easily just said, something along the lines of, 'thanks for the info Jr. I love my lens and will keep using it but thanks for looking out for us.'
This forum should be more supportive of its members and not falling into troll territory.

From father to grandfather, from canon 1100d to C300,1DC, from niece to sister, from "im an honroable patriarch Ill refund the money with my small toe" to "maybe I send an slr magic, but its not fair",etc...

This sounds a little bombastic, but to settle peoples mind on this forum...  Ebrahim Jnr  should post a video message with Ebrahim Senior explaining the situation and what will be done to rectify it. That will help with all these conspiracy theories.
Also it would be good to see some genuine portfolio work from you both. You have enormous knowledge and seem to have tried a lot of cameras + lenses. Surely you have some material shot? 
Integrity and trust is important, even in an internet community. We share our knowledge, our work, our contact details, offer gear for sale... I'd hope that a community such as this is no place for scamming and telling lies. 
I hope the people involved have this rectified so topics about filmmaking can flourish more. 

I think most people here want to help you clear your name if you're innocent. Did the hacker take control of your Facebook acct, email, and EOSHD account? If so, when did you notice and take back control of each?

I suspect the lad is under an enormous amount of pressure at the moment. I'd personally rather lose a few hundred dollars than be in such a position. I don't know the real story, but I can imagine that a young man wanting to be respected and liked, and with an underdeveloped sense of judgement and perspective, might make a series of bad choices. I was young once and I sometimes cringe at the things I have done. I suppose it is normal. But I am not the same person now that I was. A crisis can sometimes be a useful catalyst for change. In many stories the hero sets out on a quest of some sort. But he has a weakness of character, exposed by some circumstance, which causes him to stumble and fail, possibly becoming ostracised, or at least diminished in the eyes of others, in the process. Seeing how the hero responds to the difficult road ahead despite their weaknesses and failings is what keeps us on the edge of our seats.
