What is your video card. What plugins are you using. This is pc? How many and what type of screens? Resolution of project?

My up to date (hopefully?) instructions here https://www.dropbox.com/s/nt2uqr5pp9xi1st/GH5 10 bit fix.pdf?dl=0

I get your technical point, and it's a good one. But you can see the files so it's not some theoretical thingy.

I don't think that's the case in this situation. As Justin discovered it looks like the luminance values are just being tagged incorrectly by the NLEs reading the wrapper. The two files are indistinguishable in quality that is for sure.
-
Rewrap or reduce luminance levels not working?

You've got something broken there that aint the codec mate.

I think that is what happening when using blue tooth to initiate the wifi connection. which is annoying.

I haven't enabled the bluetooth link yet but otherwise: I turn on GH5 wifi, connect phone wifi to camera, start Image App, win! Except sometimes it takes 60 seconds. The sony x3000 connects to the android play memories app in 10 seconds with a range of over 15m. Bluetooth should help though. About time to have a read I think, p268

There's also crop mode 4k (Ex Tele) on the GH5 if you're really stuck.

I don't have a metabones but they say which means you should find the lenses you're thinking about first, then the adaptor to fit. Are there aps-c / DX lenses you really want to use? Or is there a list of just FF lenses you're thinking about.

2.2.6 works no problem for me, a previous version was sometimes choppy.

Does it work and switch as easily as the G80? Do you need two custom settings to switch or just the one.

As you can see from the meter, they are both well exposed for the main subject (the face). Really nice example of how to run it with the different backgrounds. @BTM_Pix do you have feedback for the GX85?

For some number comparisons, 2:20 4k 10bit recording GH5 vs 3hrs GH4 (or 4 hours FHD). Yup, loving it. I find the L12-60 is particularly versatile even in low light situations that would have really tied the GH4 up. And the ability to go straight to photos in those situations is so very handy. My only exp with the Sony is the rx100 range. Such a fantastic awesome little camera, love using it! - but video overheating, ouch.

Nuttin, apart from reconfirmation that AF will be tweaked. Hope you're not talking about One Tree Hill. It so pretty!

Thank you for the 2012 camera manual link. As you can see in the manual, cine-d is the most linear of the gamma types. A problem in this thread is Mercer using "highlight clipping" interchangeably with "highlight rolloff." Which is unfortunate. All this is clarified below. Summarised here for your reading pleasure. This is from a 2016 white paper discussing exposure. Panasonic White Paper on Exposure Levels Most video camera gamma curves are designed to replicate what-you-see-is-what-you-get when the footage is displayed on a video monitor. That’s convenient, but there are sacrifices made in the amount of dynamic range that can be preserved when using a conventional video gamma. Furthermore, video gammas are more linear in design [than vlog], and that means that more “bits” are allocated to storing the brightest stops, than are allocated to store the darkest stops. This can result in mushy shadows, and noise and banding in the shadows if you try to brighten them in post. Exposure is normally 70 IRE for skin tones, and 100 IRE for highlights. When shooting in REC 709 gamma, I’m used to setting my zebras at 70 and 100; I would expose for there to be just a little bit of 70-IRE zebras on the brightest highlights on Caucasian skin tones; then I would swap over to Zebra 2 (set to 100 IRE) to check for highlight clipping. Exposure for VlogL is 55 IRE for Caucasian skin tones, and 80 IRE for highlights. An individual channel might clip earlier than the zebras indicate so in some situations one might set the vlog-L highlight clipping to a little lower (75 IRE) to minimize possible individual chroma channel clipping. Exposure is a game between three things: · Noise in the shadows – all digital sensors show the most noise in the darkest areas. Under exposing and lifting in post will maximise noise. Raising ISO will also increase noise levels. · Retaining the highlights – decide between main subject vs highlights. Deciding which highlights might have to be sacrificed for exposing the main subject is difficult. In an ideal world no highlights will need to go past 100 – welcome to studio set lighting. · Maintaining consistent midtones between shots For a good read on basic ETTR principles and the balance http://www.leeminglutone.com/#howtoettr Hope you find this helpful.

You won't believe this, but my horoscope for today said exactly the same thing!

The phrase "whatever works for you", especially in the repeated usage, really comes across as condescending towards the mod. With it removed your post is much more readable! I do appreciate that you've added a video in support of your workflow. I suggest your discussion of ire clipping levels move to another thread, new if you like, as this is distracting from the good work of BTM_Pix.

Hmm, I mean the cages. I don't think anyone suggested the lexar cards didn't work. Just that they are not as fast as others. If it works at 200 Mbps on the GH4 then that's great.
