I'm getting 1.0 pixel ratio, PC.

Must have been another thread, someone reminded us that you can just make yourself a monitor lut, ie. your lut with increased contrast that you use for monitor not for post. Tweak it so you're happy it matches what you want.
-
Not sure about sharpening but for contrast, sure can. Just alter your favourite lut, save it as vlt, and there you go. Use the altered vlt for monitor, real one for post. Nice idea! Great wholistic review up from the Northrups. Huge work into it, very impressive.

I could read this as it was black text on a white background. They're not talking about "backlight" it's "shoulder light" - a very subtle rear light to increase subject separation from the background. In the example above not so subtle, but usually it is.
-
piece of blank white paper good for white balance as "tungsten" quite likely to miss the real temp (which I have done, oops). Auto is probably better. On the other topic, the number one highschool musical lighting problem is not having backlighting. All the actors just disappear into the background.

He didn't say any of it in fact. That's why my reply supplied as much info as the op did, lol.

You have got your own words in a quote box claiming they are from me. Again, bad form. Do you have a panasonic lens you can test with? If I was testing this I'd want to repeat the exact move with two different lenses, or two different cameras. This doesn't look like the v1.0 gx85 i.s. though..?

Looks the same to me. The LCD is slightly over exposed (for all clips) at default but I prefer it like this. Comparing the Like709 to vlog with 709 lut is very interesting and (coupled with the 200 vs 400 iso difference) shows the extra DR of vlog nicely - more so at the dark end though (again supporting Jonpais and Leeming to expose to the right). Also, interesting to see what was pointed out in another thread about how 0-1023 vlog is actually ending up as something less than that in Premiere. Compared with Like709 which crashes both ends to 0 and 1023 respectively. I'd agree when you first see it, it looks less contrasty. But I think it does all line up correctly.

Can you put your words outside the quote box, ty.

Uses non-standard lenses and adaptors, doesn't post example video, blames GH5 autofocus. Or something like that.

Have been looking a bit closer at some of these reviewers using the C300ii, rx100, and a6500. They go oof a lot or pulse horribly so I'm not convinced "world class" has all the boxes ticked.
-
I believe what you're looking at is simply the greater dynamic range of the vlog compressed onto the visible range of the led monitor. Instead of the blacks being crushed and the highlights being blown out, they are fully visible. This, counterintuitively, reduces the subjective contrast. The EVF doesn't have this effect as much I think.

I think that those prices are usually for the the smaller M model but I'll check every so often as sales do pop up regularly.

That discount has departed? Presumably back again soon.

GH5 slow motion comparison (vs sony a6500, A7SII...)

https://youtu.be/dXTN3-9bv64?t=2m41s Interesting from 2:41, lots of nice slowmo shots -
But two reference brands give same result to the minute as mine so nice test! Science around the world

Crashing? Good thing we're not talking about Vegas Pro then ahahah (plus numerous other cheap NLE's I've tried). Ah such is life. I managed to get 3 bad power supplies in a row over 2 years combined with the first (or 2nd?) gen i7 boards. The last year or so has been pretty good with PremCC. Always looking for something better of course so either Adobe steps up or the decline will be inevitable.

I'm going to have to remember that interesting turn of phrase

Video AF yawn speed during 6k photo I think. That's why you should use mech shutter continuous mode afc for that task. h265 intra it's fine. The shutter is really quite quiet. I'm very impressed with it. Not sure what you're trying to say. Do you take a lot of photos of lions that are upset by the GH5 shutter sound while they are doing star jumps? Most wild animal safaris I've seen have swarms of people with very loud shutters. I'm just trying to figure out where are all these really fast motion scenes that are really quiet. Which is to say, there will be a camera on the market somewhere that does exactly what you're after there. An 18MP global e-shutter type of thing but with fast AF. Ok maybe not but what about the Sony A9?

Yup, starts at 400! Don't forget to turn the lut monitor thing on, makes seeing whats on screen easier My procedure was - charge to full, start recording without playing in menus. I used 4k 25p 422, 10bit, LCD open and on, two 128GB sd cards so recording could continue from one to the other, leave it filming leaves outside (the leaves outside, the camera inside). Once it stops, take the cards and read the duration off each of the clips and add them together for total time.

The larger photo stores in NZ stock them so it's quite a mainstream item it seems.

New EOSHD front-page template, faster loading and full width articles
Orangenz replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
He shouldn't have changed it. BarelyPolitical on youtube did a silly name change too. The name isn't about what you cover, it's you. Language does this all the time. Boys Brigade decided to change name in NZ but the only way they could go is up at that point, which they have done. -
The comparative part of the test looks fine. So a nice finding that e-shutter gives rolling shutter (which you have to be aware of no matter what camera you use), but that the GH5 results in no lowering of picture quality. As he states, e-shutter for highest quality, 6k photo for no rolling shutter. Nice! He needs to objectively measure the flicker rate though as the ballast for fluros can have them at 10kHz or more. Comparative photos would have also been helpful with cameras above each other. A photo by itself showing rolling shutter is not a good science fair project result. Also that the 6k mode has additional video processing it applies to your selected photo that removes any remaining rolling shutter.

Another battery test: Panasonic 2:18 Kastar 0:58, 1:16 Power2000 1:24 BatteryPack 1:34 Wasabi - 2:19 So it looks like Wasabi has won the after-market battery competition. I also note that when going onto the charger it starts from 20% not 40% like the others. So it gets flatter while maintaining an operating voltage to the camera.

I'm thinking there's a lot of people in the world who really don't need to be playing with such things. When I was going through the instructions I got the impression it was to /ffmpeg and you had to move the ffmpeg exe there. As you describe it makes more sense but I'm still trying to think of a way to make it easier for others.
