Why the camera press need to grow a pair of balls
Orangenz replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I think you make a good point in the article about the responsibility of reviewers to be honest and critical in all reviews. The above throwaway point about the medical industry is, however, false. Doctors do get sponsored by pharmaceutical companies. In the UK there is a code of practice that everyone has to adhere to and that limits how much they can sponsor them and what class of travel and what air class. Sometimes it’ll just be paying for the entry fee and sometimes it’s travel. -
I don't have a DeckLink card for the Grading Monitor yet, but will certainly get one soon. Screenshot attached of 4k + 1080 monitors for User Interface. All UI screens should run off the one graphics card. For GPU I meant memory as big as possible on it, not the card. Although having said that the 1070Ti and 1080 seem to only be $80 difference here in NZ atm so 1080 I guess. Bound to be new cards just about to come out.

I have Intel i7-8700K (6/12 core), 32GB, 64bit Win 10 Pro, 6GB 780GTX and it is fantastic. So fast it is ridiculous. Acceleration is in the paid version. Currently I run a 4k 27" as main monitor off that video card and I have a 1080 screen running off the onboard video. Spyder5 colour dongle thing. I have the waveforms up on the 1080 screen. It does not span screens like Premiere, there is a little extra video card one can get from BlackMagic to enable an extra monitor screen for monitoring the programme full screen. Resolve is super stable, unlike Premiere. It includes default functions that seem identical to expensive plugins: Neat Video noise reduction, Mercalli stabilisation, Flicker Free. My recent try at running Premiere on brand new machines resulted in them crashing every 5 minutes or less. It is horrible. edit: go single gpu and as high memory as you can go on it. 8 or 11 seems the thing now. There is a small gain if doing 8k footage on dual GPU otherwise it actually slows things down just a little from single.

Google data shows HUGE decline of interest in Canon 5D series

Dang, I uploaded the wrong one, oops. What's particularly interesting is the trace from Jan 2017 and the beta 14 release. -

Yup, that's what I did too. And another one for exposure lock.

You're making a moral judgement concerning the situation without stating and interacting with his many comments, the video he posted, or his correspondence with a convicted pedophile. What this whole conversation should be doing is helping us realise that there seem to be significant problems deeply rooted in Hollywood that need addressing. It's not normal behaviour for a 44 year old, it is broken. The politics is real though, a single tweet from a conservative, or a single recorded bad word, and the media goes into meltdown and decides they should be destroyed and the American people insulted. Incidentally, you say "wreaker Trump" (sic) but I think you'll find the economic and employment stats are doing pretty well.

Leeming provides a lut into a unified rec.709 colour space from all three of those (cine D, vlogl, hlg). We're finding HLG to provide the best results, especially in lower light situations. Cine D has less dynamic range but is great when you need to shoot 8bit for high frame rates. I just use a Zhiyun Crane. I'm keen to get a dual handle set for it.

And that 4 star review is not for the Leica anyway, it's in the wrong place as it is for the Lumix F1.7 ?
-
Manual mode and you can set auto iso range, that's probably the best. I wouldn't use S for video as diffraction can wreck a shot while non-180 degrees are ok.
-
I'm missing something. Why the non-linear electronic flybywire auto focus lens?
-
That's interesting. The profile is now shared with movie mode. Is that different from before? I seem to remember the movie mode settings being quite independent of the photo settings. There's probably an extra menu item that changes it.. In other news, the cheapo grip is amazing, well worth getting for photographers https://www.aliexpress.com/item/DMW-BGGH5-Battery-Grip-for-Panasonic-DMW-GH5-GH5-Camera-DMW-BGGH5GK-DMW-BLF19-BLF19/32845153451.html

Sandisk ship with full 1 year version of their rescue software. Sure sounds like your DIT person managed to corrupt the cards for you.

Need advice for future proofing my pc for later upgrades for editing
Orangenz replied to Color Philospher's topic in Cameras
Several ASRock boards I have built for people have failed in identical ways with sporadic onboard raid controllers so I'm not impressed with their reliability. Our main PC supplier does not recommend them anymore. I went with https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/MBDASU54002/ASUS-TUF-Z370-PLUS-GAMING-ATX-Form-For-Intel-Coffe Asus. and https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/FANDPC2088/DEEPCOOL-Gamer-Storm-Captain-240EX-AIO-Liquid-Cool for cooling. The list of compatible video cards for Resolve (CUDA 3 or higher) is here - 6 or 8 GB required though! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CUDA#GPUs_supported I wouldn't bother with Premiere on a new machine when Resolve is, I am just finding out, outstanding. @IronFilmActually my Gen 2 Intel i7 was doing fine until that ASRock mobo did what they do repeatedly and died. But 5 times quicker is more enjoyable -
Time to dump Adobe. First impressions of Resolve 14 and EditReady 2.0
Orangenz replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Worth bumping this thread considering the Resolve 15 release. When you try and leave Adobe they will try and charge you for an extra half year or offer you "free three months" to stay on. Just keep on reminding them about your history with them and insistence that you can't afford it and eventually they move onto the next step in the prepared script and waive the fee. Be firm but polite. Currently Premiere just crashes on brand new machines so it just does not cut it for dependable editing. -
Comes with a case for deep diving. Good water resistance without it (splashes and the like). Case blocks the mic pretty well with it on so not something you leave on all the time. The wifi app connection is one of the best I've seen. Reliable fast connection over 8m or so to full screen HD.

So uninstall the nvidia driver and reinstall might help? Currently on that machine it pretty much blue screens randomly even if you're not doing anything. Sounds like a similar multiscreen setup.
-
What''s the story on the output? Tried a brand new 8 core and it blue screened which was rather annoying.
-
Quoted for truth. The whole topic is a profound waste of time. Even more so is the name calling as if one youtuber and his CAPITALS owns an idea. Ridiculous.
-
HLG uses more of the tonal range of the H264 container and also has more accurate tonal density than VlogL. Unless using slowmo (cine-D) I use HLG.

My BenQ projector broke down after only a couple of years. Very disappointing quality. Ballast malfunctioning.
-
Sounds like you could use Plural Eyes for that part.

ahah, will the bears be back? Crickey!
