It's a way of making it focus quicker. The GH4 was almost instant or slow depending on the situation. If I panned from a distant object to a close object the GH4 had the focus before I arrived. ??!! But tracking a person moving closer or have someone pop up in front of the lens, it seemed slow. The GH5 is meant to be exactly one bizillion times faster. But I think everyone is taking that with a grain of salt until the camera is released.

I hope the bride was waterproof! It's all a bit of a muchness 2.8-4 when you really want F1.0 :D

So sometimes I do inside stuff and sometimes outside. If I go to the beach I don't want to be swapping lenses, and weather proof important, and before I'd have to swap to either the 42.5 (which I never did) or straight to the 100-400 which really is for different targets. For inside I use the 25 1.4 or 42.5 1.7. Sometimes I entertain the idea of getting the 42.5 1.2 but 1) price and 2) macro isn't as good and 3) weight difference :O It's not f/4 at 35. It would be just over half a stop at f/3.4 with a smooth aperture transition. The 12-35 was great within it's range for sure. The swapping lenses thing is a lot to me. Want to stop peering into lens bag while friends having fun around me.

At 40mm probably F3.5 so only 2/3rds of a stop. I want a walkaround with longer reach so (trying to) sell the 12-35 2.8 (which was never bright enough inside anyway).

No problems there either. 4k focus on the camera lcd/evf is a pain though.

That is a good question!

You mean things like Dual IS 2 vs ibis only and DFD AF speed vs not calibrated?
-
The shortest focal length you can set the ibis to is 8mm. Cam mounted on dual suction mount car windscreen. This combo resulted in waves of uncorrectable wobbles down the image about 50% of the time. I guess this is one situation where you just have to turn the ibis off?

http://www.feelworld.cn/ShowInfo.aspx?id=383&py=FEELWORLD-7-IPS-4K-HDMI-Full-HD-1920x1200-On-Camera-Monitor-Ultra-thin-Design-FW760 It accepts 4k signal. Tested my one which has one of the older firmwares and it shows 4k off GH4, gx85, rx100v, x3000. It displays the rez and Hz top right corner upon connection.

They are the same monitor, just different port location and that pass through. Everything else same. Both have 4k support. This confirmed to me from feelworld before I bought the 760 which I prefered because of the side ports.

3200 looks so good! Amazing improvement from 800 on GH4

This is where I got my batteries from. It did take a couple of months to arrive I think. However, I note that they now say they don't ship to NZ. Two many batteries in one package I would think. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4Pcs-7200mAh-NP-F970-NP-F970-NP-F960-NP-F950-Camera-Battery-Rapid-LCD-Dual-Charger/32767179163.html?spm=2114.13010608.0.0.xpu9wx

The only difference is the pass through hdmi for the F7.

Update, if the red power led is on (battery attached) the unit does seem to stay warm and (slowly) drain the battery at about 1/3 normal rate.
-
The little red power led stays on with battery attached. It changes to green when you turn the monitor on. I ran it non-stop for 5 hours and the charger said 25-35% remaining on the single 970 battery "batmax" from aliexp. So as per the rated power consumption. Lag about 1/3 of a second - quite manageable. 4K output from GH4 gives best image results Not sure on 50p - will have to see! On plugging in a 4k 25p source the monitor puts some text up top right showing the uhd resolution and "50Hz" which means the monitor is doing 50p already. The question is the downsampling on the fly maybe? 50p 1080 works. 4k from the GH4 works better than setting hdmi out to 1080.
-
The fhugen honu gh4 cage makes the G85 look quite small. As the hotshoe and mount hole line up it still fits snugly though. The anti-rotate studs do not touch the body.
-
"All the reviews" - you linked one? I haven't actually tried dci4k (presumably there are people who actually use that) but works fine with UHD from the panasonics. On the RX100V if you set to output only via hdmi (and not memory card) then the output is UHD4k. If you set it to memory card + hdmi then the output is 1080.

I was curious to find out if it did or not. It does very well. Even on an older firmware than most seem to be and works great. Maybe I should make a little video of it in action to show how little I know about using monitors. At the moment I can move my fingers and not much else though. So much for my new bruce lee hobbie. - Anyway, I should have got 2 or 3 monitors when they were 120.
-
Aliexpress doesn't ship there? This one takes the 4k from gx85 better than a predownsampled 1080.
-
I got this when they were selling them for US$118. https://goo.gl/JHRwCz Love using it. Great bang for the buck (obviously). Hiding in the back seat of a car today being able to monitor the windscreen mounted camera that was facing into the car. fx760

Yup, pretty much anytime ok for me. You going to start a thread about it? And should we wait till the GH5 arrives?
-
I tend to change the settings from default to make it like a 3-5% max effect.

Adobe Camera Raw and Lightroom updated for the GH5.
