So does this mean anything to the people suggestion the GX85 and the GH5 were going to have the same sensor? If the GX85 has 2.2 crop and GH5 has 2.0 crop then doesn't that mean it has to be a different sensor?

Graded grab, not ungraded

Can you post a 4k graded frame from your timeline to compare with the youtube result? I found the video interesting quite apart from the graded parts.

Can anyone confirm the published specs? The high bitrate codec is for 4k only. Low bitrate only avchd for 1080?

Requesting a 4K 5D Mark IV! Werner meets Canon in Germany
Orangenz replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I was under the impression that it was going to be a 21Mpixel (or so) sensor that was basically 5 or 6k being reduced to 4k. Not another 16Mpixel sensor. -
Don't know if someone has already mentioned this, but the GX85 is limited to 29 minutes video recording time (euro tax law). The GX80 is not limited to that european tax grab, only the battery life limiting which apparently gives it another 10 min up to about 40min in 4k.

I'm interested to know if you changed your opinion on the BH topic once you heard about some of the facts of the case here in the forums? I don't think any company can be perfect, but the actions of BH sure sounds like a company that is earnest about fixing issues as they might arise. And as I asked elsewhere, where do you buy your shoes?

Time to step up - Panasonic GH5 must go 6K Super 35mm to compete in 2016
Orangenz replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
All good stuff. As far as GX9 thinking goes. I'm really happy with the portability of the M43 lens sizes. I don't mind more megapixels and more sensitive ones but retaining the M43 size seems a good idea to me. I think those are big points and I can see some exec complaining that it would send customers towards the FF bodies of the competition? Smaller points would be the ones I always mention in every post, better auto/follow focus in video, punch in focus in video, better stabilization in video, and possibly less wibbly wobbly bits. -
I guess the point is that springs by themselves are fine for dealing with a certain kind of motion, ie. when the camera is not meant to be changing height and only the person is going up and down a bit. This is relying on the inertia of the camera head and an even sinusoidal motion of the carrier up and down. All other kinds of motion will require dampers (shock absorbers) to be added for best results, especially if the camera is changing height. Regardless, this proposed system should be better than nothing once the operator gets used to it.

Well regarded by you maybe, but not everyone, which is the point. They lost all credibility with me when they were doing all the coverage of the Egyptian uprising. The Muslim Brotherhood was paying and supplying people to do the protests and riots and Aljazeera dutifully helped sell the whole deception.

Will put some up later in the day. Incidentally, the official GH4 vLOG codes are now out in NZ.

Noise seems the most in magenta colours. Some LUTs seem to produce it a lot while others make it disappear. The main thing for exposure seems to be set zebra to 80% and wind back just a tad from there with either shutter speed or ND filter, ie. the same as I would do with a normal profile (except zebra would be on 100% for other styles). I use iRes standard, sharp -5, NR 0. But really it seems more to do with the interaction between LUT and overall colour of shot. There's something nasty going on with the pink jacket though. Almost looks 1080 bad.
-
Well I thought it was pretty noisy and useless at the start, but now I've changed my mind. For the most part everything looks great, no visible noise, huge DR. And just adding the panasonic lut gets things looking rather nice. Skin tones look much better than without it. In short, I'll probably shoot everything with it now. Adding a secondary lut gets things confused so I'll leave that learning barrier for a couple of weeks.

What on earth does that mean?

Canon announces development of 8K Cinema EOS camera and 120MP DSLR
Orangenz replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Thought I'd better mention that I've started some development work on faster then light travel. Will keep you updated every few years. Gonna be great. -
Umm, nope, I was wrong. The answer given on the B&H site was not from B&H, just some random person who is mistaken. There is a shipping cost because the code is on a physical card that is mailed out. "This code, which is delivered on a physical card.."
-
There is a bit of a contradiction about this at the moment. B&H state "there is NO physical shipment...you will active this code they give you at a special website" and yet the check out process seems to include a small shipping charge. Still ends up being way cheaper than buying locally though... Hopefully B&H answer the other questions soon but I think that will only happen a couple of weeks down the track.
-
It looks like there will be a box version for retailers. It will cost more. B&H version is electronic only - nothing is shipped. That is in the Q&A for the item. Can't wait to film a whole new lot of gas explosions! http://www.panasonic.co.nz/the-panasonic-way/panasonic-news-centre/2015/9/2/lumix-announces-vlog-software-upgrade-for-gh4/

The order in Premiere is the top most effect gets processed first. Subsequent effects get added on top. If you add an effect A then an effect B, the effect B will be placed above (and thus before) effect A. So if you're adding LUTs you would indeed add the output then the input.
-
Oh why can't you all LEAVE THE BOX ALONE!!! lolo very good article

I've been using Transcend SDXC U3, 128GB and has worked perfectly for all data rates, including 200Mbps video and multishot raw. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1044487-REG/transcend_ts128gsdu3_128gb_sdxc_uhs_i_u3_r95_w60mb_s.html

LG Digital Cinema Display Review - 4096 x 2160 IPS impresses!
Orangenz replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
For NZ buyers that's about $750 for the Samsung screen vs $2100 for the LG. I've loved using the Samsung 4k on a windows Premiere system. Better colours would be good but might have to take a pause due to the step up cost.
