Good link..thanks for uploading.... I'm going with the BMC and don't expect to look back on the decision, especially now after reading the initial reports from Photokina. Regarding SSD, you need to factor in the the cost of CF, SD cards and subtract that from the SSD costs. I'm looking at a Lexar 32GB UDMA 400X CF 60MBs (AUD$172.00) and comparing that to a Kingston V+200 240GB SSD 535MBs currently listed 'new' at AUD $185.00. I'd rather buy the SSD drives and feed them to the BMC. I'm not experiencing any system problems playing DNG files in realtime on my two year old Win 7 64bit Intel i7 PC. I hand-picked each of the components from off the shelf for use with another system intensive photographic process.

Good approach. The 3M Dual Lock is exceptionally strong, costs more than Velcro but is ten times as strong (that's being conservative).

In Premiere CS6, what are the advantages of using the aforementioned techniques as opposed to importing anamorphic footage into the clip 'bin' > right-clicking the clip > Modify > Interpret Footage > Selecting 'Conform to' and choosing an appropriate anamorphic format?

No footage as yet. Have only recenly received my clamps for the Animex. I could not find much information on the net, so placed some images of the lens on Flickr for reference yesterday. I'll start a new thread when I've taken some video. The Animex is a projection optic focus fixed around 8-14ft purely for 8mm and 16mm film projection (thanks Alan). Using a 0.4 diopter appears to provide the best result when using this lens. I've also been advised additional diopters would work well with the Animex for close-up work. I received the ISCO Animex from a movie buff along with some other lenses. At first, the Animex had me 'stumped' (cricket term meaning out of my 'crease' or 'zone') until I put the 0.4 diopter on it which provided some interesting results and an indication of the 'zone' and qualities of the lens. *Later note: I've sorted out the matter indicated in my initial post regarding working with anamorphic footage in PP CS6 and Avid Media Composer 6.01. I'll work on the finer details later.

Two particular lenses I own are not designated 1.75x, but when working with still images in Photoshop, a percentage stretch of 175% horizontal renders a circle round, so I'm assuming the lenses are 1.75x? Need some help regarding the correct or appropriate proceedure for importing and designating aspect ratio of ananmorphic footage in PP CS6 and/or Avid MC6. I have various anamorphic attachments: 1.5x, 1.75x, 2x. I am using a Canon DSLR. PAL. Is there a thread somewhere which discusses this matter? Thanks for your help...........and patience :ph34r:

Interesting, thanks for sharing. Yep, that is the same lens I have. I've merely been opening my test images in Photoshop: Image>Image Size, unchecking the 'constrain proportions' checkbox and changing the horizontal width from pixels to percent and selecting 200%. The ISCO images have more vertical height than those delivered by the Kowa 16-H when following the above proceedure. I'm unsure if this is the correct method...I'm new to anamorphics. What lens is the ISCO attached to in your D200 setup, a 55/2.5 Micro Nikkor ? I read an article on 444-films.com [url="http://444-films.com/the-last-iscorama-anamorphic/"]http://444-films.com...ama-anamorphic/[/url] and decided to buy such a lens; found a red ISCO 65mm 2X locally. Basically just unscrew the rear lens and attach the anamorphic adapter to a DSLR/lens setup. If you are curious, here is an image (link below) taken with a Canon 7D, a Canon EF-S 60mm and the ISCO handheld at the front of the assembly. I have not tested any of its other qualities or shortcomings but this image may serve as a basic reference for anyone else considering such a lens. This is the first image taken with the setup. I set the red ISCO on infinity and focused with the Canon EF-S 60mm. Next step is to arrange an appropriate clamp. I received my first anamorphic lens/adapter; it's a Kowa Prominar 16-H. I attached it to a Canon EF-S 60mm and Canon 7D. Here is a still image (link below) crunched into a jpeg. This was taken handheld. I was positioned 20m from the postman. I used the AF on the EF-S 60mm and focused on the flag at the top of the hill. The Kowa 16-H was set at infinity. I'm new to anamorphics so comments/suggestions/explanations are welcome. I cannot say for certain if the Kowa was perfectly aligned; there are some areas of the image which indicate possibly not. Would a 1.4X teleconverter have any unpredictable outcome on sensor if incorporated into a 2X anamorphic/lens assembly? I'm not experienced in ray tracing but mathematics should provide a sufficient answer. I'm yet to receive my first anamorphic lens, so forgive my ignorance as I ponder various 'what if' scenarios.

OK will do. I noticed a Kowa Prominar Anamorphic 16-D and 16-S on my travels. The 16-S (it's in the US) may be within the price range indicated by MirrorKisser, but as I know next to nothing about anamorphic lenses someone with more experience would need to confirm if it is appropriate. Import duties and VAT could possibly make the item less attractive if MirrorKisser is based in Europe. MirrorKisser, apologies for hijacking your thread. I hope you find what you are looking for in regard to an anamorphic lens. Craig

Thanks for the information. I managed to purchase a Kowa Prominar Anamorphic 8-Z and I'm intending to outfit it with adapters/clamp by Redstan. This should be a good starting point for me. It's my first anamorphic lens. Craig
