g6 , rj speedbooster, plus dumb adapter and canon fd lenses as they are very very good and cheap 24, 28, 35, 50mm or get a canon fd 35-70mm f4 instead of primes its a steller zoom and cheap on speedbooster its a 25-50 f2.8 very very sharp with practically zero distortion !! very good glass in this lens then you can use lenses on dumb adapter and get one lot of focal lengths then use them on speedbooster and get another set of focal lengths

tokina RMC zooms have alot of character and soul they do a 28-70mm f4 and a 25-50 f4 to go with the said 28-85mm f4 all have this low contrast look to them I use all 3 as a set together along with a sigma 24mm superwide II prime that also has this look
-
its a late 70s early 80s made lens ok when stopped down a bit soft wide open but useful to have 28-70 is a useful range
-
no - there are some very very good projection lenses by Schneider and Isco - optically they are $5000 lenses new so check them out they are cheap on ebay in your budget Schneider integrated cinelux and isco integrated ultra star - goth great small lenses

they are good , .....28-70mm is my favourite range for a zoom .........faster than the 24-105mm f4 L series and a tad sharper too if you are shooting Micro 4/3 stick it on a speedbooster it becomes an f2 20-50mm ps : this lens is fully fly by wire apperture so if anyone is getting one to use on a non Canon camera I would get the equally as good Nikon 28-70mm f2.8 IF ED 'Bourne Lens' as it has a fully manual apperture for filming and just stick a nikon-canon adapter on it if you want to use it on a canon 5d etc Both lenses are optically very similar not much in it pps: the Canon extends about 2 inches when zooming - so no matte box can work on it on rails the Nikon extends about 2cm and works on my Arri Matte box as it extends into the filter tray and doesnt push the matte box forwards at all. you need a lens support under these lenses if you are on 15mm rods they are big and heavy
-
you got a right bargin there! nice one!! these are very collectable lens and expensive too I have never seen any here in the UK - the optics are hi end on a par with Nikon Nikkor glass so if you want to test them I would very much like to see the results !! thanks A
-
you can get the same look just by using a Tokina RMC 28-85MM F4 - the glass gives you this look as is with no filter , its a very very low contrast and low saturation lens - also very very good on a speedbooster too.....and very cheap on ebay .......
-
not if you can afford it
-
good very sharp focuses down to about 10 feet , smallest of these isco mid 1990s made lenses before they switched to integrated lenses and its usable on a mini rig , 70.6mm rear barrel diameter - dont hang it off the front of your taking lens
-
Im still using G6 and GX7 too (although we did just drop one of our G6's in a river!! I can tell you they are not water proof haha!) I use Natural colour profile in the day time with contrast at -3 and saturation at -3 , then at night I use a custom saved version of Natural with contrast at -5 and saturation at -5 at night I shoot 2500k outside and day interiors 4000k for a warmer skin tone look under tungsten lights. (David Fincher does this - House of Cards, Zodiac, Dragon Tattoo all 4000k interiors)

PS if you are looking for a very very good 35-70mm lens that is optically excellent very very little distortion at all focal lengths then get the superb Canon FD 35-70mm f4 ......yes f4 but the trick is put it on a RJ FD to micro 4/3 speedbooster and it becomes a f2.8 25-50mm constant apperture zoom this lens is very cheap and optically amazing - read Ken Rockwells review of it its small light and great for an everyday run and gun film zoom - as good optically as the Nikons just alot lighter does not need a rig
-
Nikon AF 35-70 f/2.8 same great glass as the superb 28-70mm f2.8 nikon I use alot ...BUT its A PUSH PULL ZOOM . now of you can live with a push pull zoom then its agreat way of getting super Nikon glass alot cheaper Nikon AF D 80-200 f/2.8 - the other 'Bourne' Lens also used on Casino Royale and Quantum of Solice I cannot say enough good things about this lens - its VERY VERY GOOD everyone should have one, I use dumb Nikon to Canon EF adapters on my Nikon lenses then I put them on Canon EF - Micro 4/3 speedboosters/Lens Turbos. so yes you can do that with no issues hope this helps !! This Nikon Glass is amazing!!

Ive never used the Pentax 30mm f2.8 , it does have a good reputation the Canon fd 28mm f2 is very good the fd 28mm f2.8 is also very good and cheap on ebay I do use the Sigma 30mm f1.4 all the time its a superb lens one of my favourites! especially on a speedbooster the Zeiss Distagon 28mm f2.8 in c/y is a killer lens very good too if you are shooting micro4/3 check out the NEW Sigma 30mm f2.8 - it has amazing reviews its very very sharp and great value
-
all good lenses are you sure Pentax make a 30mm f2? never heard of that one!

I do wide walking shots on a 18 or 20mm lens and you do have to adjust your feet and legs as shock absorbers and walk in a smooth gliding way .....not normal clunky steps I also tie myself to the talent round the waist with a piece of rope for head shots on a 50mm lens so the distance between us remains the same and they do have to walk exactly as fast as you do to keep a narrow dof . lots of takes usually gets the shot you need. .....4 seconds is how long I like to cut each shot...less is more !
-
manfrotto fig rig is good for walking shots as you have a wider reach and your hands are not touching the camera , so less wobble
-
All the canon FD prime lens range is very very good some of them are actually better optically than the newer EF mount versions of those lenses .
-
RJ make a good canon fd to micro 4/3 speedbooster its sharp and good - get one off ebay for your Canon 55mm - you then have 2 focal lengths you can use , 55mm and 39mm (ish ) its a good lens you might want to stop it down a bit so you get a more usable dof with it , it will be very fast on a speedbooster!!
-

Matt - check this out Camtec are one of the biggest rental houses in Burbank California they did a test a few months ago showing the differences in some popular cinema lenses they rent out its very good to see the colour , contrast, sharpness and flare diferances of some of these lenes and this is just cinema glass , dslr glass is the same lots of choise Andrew Reid has some Cooke Panchro's he reviewed a few months ago in this forum.

glass formulations have different colour renderings by different makers and different series of lenses by the same makers the glass in my book is the biggest factor in the 'look' of an image - thats why I have tried out lots and lots of lenses over the past 20 years to try different looks - it makes a huge differance to your image , cameras come and go every year - the right glass lasts beyond the life of a camera . Modern new lenses have very strong blacks - saturation and zingy colours and are very very sharp as thats what people want an almost finished graded look in camera without doing anything in post - but as a cinematographer that not always what you want - so older lens can be better for getting different looks . less contrast and saturation , warmer or cooler colour tinges and more or less flare and aspheric sharpness or slightly softer vintage film look ....all are variables caused by the lens not the camera. The more lenses you use the more looks you will discover for your work . I do also collect 'sets' of lenses that have a similar look that I can use on jobs - so I have a low contrast set , an aspheric modern sharp set , a warm set , a flare tastic set , a modern zoom set , a vintage zoom set etc etc ..... Just look at a film rental company lens list and you will see loads of different looks available to hire to make your movie , Zeiss, Fujinon, Panavision, Angenieux, Cooke etcetc all different moive lenses with drasticly different looks - that all dictate the over all look of a movie. here is a Panavision UK hire list : just look at the choise of lenses you have to make a movie - the lens choise is huge! because this is such an important part of the style 'look' of a film http://www.panavision.co.uk/pdf/catalogue/pvukcat2008.pdf most people on here use DSLR lenses and there are great lenses out there that can give you great looks without breaking the bank!!

Mines is quite snug doesnt move - I think its just tollerances in manufacture - they must vary a bit
