  1. if you want a one stop shop for a great Nikon lens get the 28-70mm AF ED f2.8 As used on Bourne Ultimatum , Green Zone, Captain Phillips Casino Royale - amazing lens - I cannot say enough good things about this lens ....it replaces all those Nikon primes this one killer lens the images just 'pop' off the screen with this lens as is - no speedbooster then if you add a speedbooster it gets even better ..if that is possible , brighter faster wider and even sharper!
  2. of course it has an apperture ring - its a fully manual lens
  3. I dont use full frame so Im not quote full frame equivilants Im quoting actual focal lenths the speedbooster creates it is a very very good lens - a hidden gem - Canon got the glass on this lens just right with a speedbooster is the Full frame approx equivilant of 50-100 @ f2.8 which is a steller range to work in , 50mm being a 'standard lens and 100 range is right through to portait - this lens has little or no distortion suberb rich colours and nice solid blacks - and is sharp !! win win win !! see Ken Rockwell review here http://www.kenrockwell.com/canon/fd/35-70mm-f4.htm quote from Ken Rockwell The 35-70mm f/4 is unusually sharp right out to the corners, even wide-open, and has little or no distortion throughout most of the zoom range. The Canon FD 35-70/4 is also built tough; it's almost all-metal.
  4. Canon FD lenses are great optically and cheap as a general all rounder you cannot beat the 35-70mm f4 it costs about $25 on ebay and is optically amazing almost as good as my Zeiss lenses , add it to a FD speedbooster and you have an approx 25-50mm f2.8 all metal constant apperture zoom (with internal zoom and focus!!) with practically zero distortion across the whole range this lens is great
  5. the Pentax 110 70mm is a nice lens and has character -
  6. the G6 EVF is superb - I use it all the time for the past year - I dont use the rear screen at all like you have to with a Canon

I have 2 Lens Turbos and 1 RJ , both Lens Turbos out perform the RJ the Tokina works very well with the Lens Turbo - fully open the extra sharpness off the Lens Turbo makes 2.8 on the Tokina 28-70 sharper

I use the Lens Turbo with the Tokina - alot cheaper than the Metabones I prefer Lens Turbo to RJ - its sharper (I have both) the only truely sharp wide open 80-200 2.8 is the Nikon ED version - as rehoused for Bourne....but its not cheap £££$$$$
  9. Ive modified all my fujinon c mount lenses my self its easy to do .....if you have a lathe!
  10. g6 sensor is better then the GH3 sensor - we had months discussing this here on this forum when they both came out The g6 uses the steller sensor from the classic gh2 , Panasonic have just massively improved the codec on the g6 so you dont need to hack the camera like we all did on the gh2
  11. panasonic 14mm is great as is the olympus 17mm I use both regularly , both fast and Razer sharp with aspheric elements
  12. welcome to the forum , I use the G6 and it is a superb camera plus once you have glass for micro 4/3 when the time comes to get a 4K G4 it will all carry over to a G4 with no issues ps its not difficult to get wide shots on micro 4/3 just get the superb panasonic 14mm lens and the stunning olympus 17mm both are cheap and readily available on ebay low light on the g6 works great use f1.4 lens and it kicks ass Fujinon 24mm f1,4 sigma 30mm f1.4 canon 50mm f1.4 carl zeiss 50mm f1.4 Tokina ATX PRO 28-70mm f2.6 on a Lens Turbo speedbooster makes it f1.6 and great in low light
  13. ps : save your self a fortune and get a Carl Zeiss 50mm Planar f1.7 in Contax Yashica mount I prefer this lens to the one you are getting the ZF2 Planar , the f1.7 Planar is alot cheaper - you dont need f1.4 if you are putting it on a speedbooster f1.7 its just fine and fast enough http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Carl-Zeiss-Planar-50mm-f1-7-T-Lens-with-caps-warranty-/201121790946?pt=UK_Lenses_Filters_Lenses&hash=item2ed3cafbe2 the Carl Zeiss 50mm Planar f1.7 is the KING of 50mm in my book - nothing comes close to it , it is insanely sharp , great contrast and Zeiss colours - a super lens
  14. I have the Carl Zeiss Planar 50mm too and I use in with A Zhiyongi Mitakon Lens Turbo speed booster in CANON EF mount - The ZF verion is Nikon mount , dont buy it in Nikon mount buy the ZE Version if you are going to get it http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mitakon-Lens-Turbo-Focal-Reducer-M43-Body-Canon-EOS-EF-EF-S-Lens-M43-MFT-Olympus-/161230998872?pt=US_Lens_Adapters_Mounts_Tubes&hash=item258a1dcd58 Get the Lens Turbo in Canon mount as you can they add loads of other lenses to it later on like M42 PENTAX K. NIKON AI , OLYMPUS OM etc etc etc A Canon EF Lens turbo is more versatile than buying one in Nikon mount
  15. it will be gone for good in the next few years - the cost associated with it is too great in today climate . I shot on film for 15 years and I dont miss it at all. I dont miss negative insurance and long drives to Soho and Todd AO in Camden in the middle of the night to telecine cans of film I had just picked up from being developed . Shooting Super 16 film and all that it entails added an extra £5000 in costs onto every pop video I shot ! and when we shot 35mm well you can treble that in costs making each video around 50k all in if it was on 35mm ......never again!! complete overkill !!
  16. I was down at Media City in Salford UK ( BBC and ITV's new home) editing there , some of the edit suits have jumped on the Polaroid 4k 50 inch TV as it is affordable and lashed at on the end of the edit system as a final check monitor - yes its TV not strictly a monitor but very useful to have if your laptop is only 2.5k edit on that then check it on the big (its huge!!) Polaroid

you have just bought the version 2 with a bayonet front hood mount - its a great lens buy it!! looks in good nick too I have v1 and v2 and I cannot tell any differance optically - they are the same

I dont have that lens , I do have the TOKINA RMC 28-85 F4 and it is good , its low contrast so has a cool 'log c profile' type look to it! vintage film style , I like it for certain jobs that need a low contrast look to them The Tokina RMC range are all metal bodies and built like tanks ! good and very cheap on ebay The trick now is all these f4 zoom lenses that no one wants are suddenly all f2.8 lenses when we put then on a speedbooster making them very very desirable lens now they are faster wider and sharper ! another jem is the Pentax PK mount 75-150mm f4 zoom - bloody sharp and now on a speedbooster very very usable ! Im not really a fan of push pull zooms but I can live with the Pentax as I just use it as a vari prime - Im not crash zooming while filming with it at the long end of the lens it is very very good! its short and compact for its focal length ,

Tokina 28-70mm f2.8 is a later design that has been tweeked by Tokina added aspheric elements and different internal coatings etc etc the f2.6-2.8 version 1 is the original Angenieux design from the 1990s licenesed by Tokina and replicated exactly in their lens - optically it is no different if anything the Tokins full metal housing is better then the Angenieux original which has ABS plastic bits on it

thats good - let us know how you get on with it also you can get this lens de clicked so it has a smooth apperture - I got mine done it is useful for 'inbetween settings'
  22. this is normal as it is a fully manual lens - you focus and set apperture on the lens manually

    Lenses

with that set of Nikon lenses and a speed booster you could almost shoot an entire movie as the speedbooster will give you effectively a 17mm f1.8 on your 24mm (faster wider and even sharper lens, )so get a dumb regular nikon - micro 4/3 adapter and a Lens turbo and you are good to get ...get filming ! I do highly recomend the Zhongyi Mitakon Lens Turbo speedbooster over all the other cheaper ones. I have the Nikon - micro 4/3 version it is superb ... get one

    Lenses

I do highly recomend the Zhongyi Mitakon Lens Turbo speedbooster over all the other cheaper ones. Ive A/B these against the RJ one and the Lens Turbo is slightly sharper in my book . I use one in Nikon Mount on the Tokina ATX PRO 28-70mm and one on my Canon 24-105 L series so you all know know the Tokina is a hidden jem killer lens as good as many cinema lenses out there costing 10x as much. Well here is my hidden jem zoom no 2 for you all to get. Canon FD 35-70mm f4 (constant apperture) mounted on a RJ Fianance Canon FD - micro 4/3 speedbooster This lens is metal bodied , internal focus and internal zoom , like the Tokina built like a tank , and the glass is insanley sharp and has the Canon L series look to it , Ken Rockwell gives this lens a great review here is quote from him "The 35-70mm f/4 is unusually sharp right out to the corners, even wide-open, and has little or no distortion throughout most of the zoom range. The Canon FD 35-70/4 is also built tough; it's almost all-metal. It's a two-ring zoom. There are no weird macro settings; it focuses directly down to 1.6 feet (0.5 meters) at all focal lengths as part of the regular focus range. http://www.kenrockwell.com/canon/fd/35-70mm-f4.htm so I added this lens to a FD speedbooster making it approx f2.8 25-50mm Im shooting 3 cameras on some scenes and cutting this lens in with the Canon L series 24-105 and the Tokina AT-X Pro 28-70mm and it cuts in well no issues , I cannot tell the difference between shots on it and the Canon L series lens when all cut together - its Canon Glass after all, it has exactly the same look as the L series glass same colouring and black saturation and sharpness .... and alot of people widely regard some of the FD lenses optically superior to the modern EF lenses THIS LENS IS ONE OF THEM! its very very cheap on ebay as no one wants them .....until now ....get buying ! ps: its very small and light which is nice!! great for run and gun on a small rig http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BOXED-CANON-FD-35-70mm-F4-ZOOM-LENS-for-MANUAL-FOCUS-FILM-SLRs-T70-AE-1-T90-/121387421068?pt=UK_Lenses_Filters_Lenses&hash=item1c43410d8c
