-
Dische - thanks for the heads up on RJs new version - I might get the Canon FD version to try out
-
anyhow the one I have is very good I do like it alot , it works nicely , faster, wider, sharper .....all good things to have Ive just looked they do sell it on ebay too here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mitakon-Lens-Turbo-Focal-Reducer-Adapter-Nikon-Ai-s-to-m43-MFT-Olympus-camera-/111334817179?pt=UK_Photography_CameraLenses_Lens_caps_hoods_adaptors_ET&hash=item19ec127d9b

Dische the Mitakon Zhongyi Lens turbo I just got today does NOT HAVE AN IRIS ! its a lump of glass in an adaptor no rings to turn or anything for Nikon apperture control http://mxcamera.com/mitakon/en/index2.html http://mxcamera.com/product_info.php?products_id=861&osCsid=ace1342e0320aab80c551104777b6bf4 its is not the generic speedbooster on ebay , it came direct from the manufacturer and from the tests I saw before I bought it conducted by Brian Caldwell of Caldwell Photographic who invented the original Metabones Speedbooster it is clear to see the Mitakon Zhongyi Lens Turbo it is better than the RJ version in these tests http://***URL removed***/forums/post/53156458 http://***URL removed***/forums/post/53156458?image=0 now to my eyes in the center tests the Mitakon Zhongyi Lens Turbo out performs the RJ version , and I happen to like my images to have a sharp center!!! it also looks nothing like the RJ version its a completely different case casting and possibly glass too. Lens Turbo is a trade name of Zhongyi which is associated in some way with Mitakon who are a Chinese lens manufacturer any how all that is piffle , the Lens Turbo for me is very good and does the job superbly I will be using it alot from now on.....nuff said! next on my list is the EF version

the sharper your lens the better the peaking is Carl Zeiss Planar 50mm f1.7 is peaking heaven , blue lines everywhere as its so sharp so on older legacy lenses (60's 70's and 80's) you tend to get less peaking on screen, its a trade off ..... Modern Panny lenses are great lots of peaking all the time
-
lens turbo does not have apperture control , its a lump of glass in an adapter , no iris
-
Angenieux and Tokina are identical lenses optically Tokina is all metal , internal focus and internal zoom like propper lenses should be, , nothing extends out so your Matte Box fits on the end all OK its big and heavy and needs a rig all the time , do not hand hold this lens with no rig.

yes if you point it direct at the sun , as in over exposed by 3+ stops under certain conditions it does produce a blue/purple spot relative to your apperture size......wide open apperture = big spot ! but I cant see it being a massive problem as I have to open up fully and over expose to a degree the shot is unusable at that exposure to make it happen but yes it does occur!!! edit: Ive only been able to get the Blue spot once , despite just trying now in bright sunlight , I cant get it to do it again....so dont worry about it , its a freak occurance under certain conditions

I'm a bit late coming to the Party , but today I got a Mitakon Lens Turbo speed booster Nikon AI- Micro 4/3 I got this specifically to use with the Angenieux designed Tokina AT-X Pro Series 1 28-70mm f2.6-2.8. This is a legendary classic Angenieux lens design and has a very very cinematic look to it , I like using it with a Tiffen ND16 so I can shoot f2.6 outside , stunning narrow dof bokeh heaven with this lens. So the Lens Turbo on this lens makes it an f2 ish 20mm-50mm ish lens First impressions are wow !! the Lens turbo increases sharpness alot on this lens , it was good before but now Im getting peaking blue lines all over the place on object edges on my G6 - alot more than before at at 28mm (which is now 20mm) it is very sharp so by using this Lens Turbo it has given me a 20mm f2 sharp lens which is very useful. The Lens turbo does a superb job , I like the look it produces , wider, faster, brighter and sharper!! Also if you put a +0.5 Diopter on the front of your lens that also increases sharpness alot on these speedboosters you loose a degree or two of field of view , BUT for objects 10 feet or nearer it has a big effect increasing sharpness. This trick will be useful on the cheaper Chinese RJ Jinfianance speedboosters as they are a bit softer than the Mitakon Lens Turbo

now you can buy a Gold Plated G6 - as last !! join the club !

have you ever put a lens is a glass of Coke ! it's amazing after 3 hours it has eaten all the coating off the lens , after 5 hours it has removed all the paint from the casing , and after 6 hours you have a superb very clean shiny lens!! try it..........

what about the glow in the dark dials on my wrist watch ...shall I stop wearing that now? I'm going to build a Fariday Cage in my house to shield me from all the Wifi signals in my road .......COS THAT IS CONSTANT 24/7 unlike the old lenses that are all locked away in my lead lined cabinet. I've stopped using a cell phone too , oh and my tablet ...
-
Im selling all my lenses and switching to plastic Holga lens from now on...........
-
you get more radiation on a long haul flight of 10 hours and more radiation to your face from a dental xray than you do from an old lens I would not worry about this too much , store your lens in a metal box or just wrap aluminium foil around it while you are not using it. just dont go licking the lens that would not be good!!!
-
Ive build whole new shoulder rigs for my g6s so Im just using the EVF as its so good , I dont film using the rear screen much now
-
the datas comes back if you touch lighty the front trigger button , depress lighly but dont take a photo .....you know what I mean
-
the wifi control of the camera is amazing!! Ive got a cheap tablet to use so it has a bigger screen than my smart phone no audio meters seem to appear , but full control of the camera functions including iso , shutter and if you use a Panny lens you can pull focus on it!! its nothing short of an amazing feature to have , so Im not worried there is no live HDMI out - I dont ever need cables sticking out the camera to a monitor when wifi is the way to go .... ps if your camera goes to sleep you just re start the app and it re aquires the camera via wifi you dont need to go over the the camera
-
there is a button on the right hand side on th back marked - DSP toggle that button and it cycles thru frame with data , frame with just shutter speed data, frame with artificial horizon and data, frame with artificial horizon and no data , full data screen with no frame , and full black frame (yes this will catch you out if you get this full black frame you can think the camera is dead!! beware!! haha!)

I think Mr Reed has been busy over Easter , I will remind him
-
exactly that why I said G6 with kit lens bought as one package straight out the box and 2 lights is easy to do , he's not having to learn all this other stuff as they have little experience with cameras - they are not suddenly going to buy a bunch of prime lenses and get into narrow dof stuff ...instantly .... as its newbie doing this
-
its very good Julian , one of the best Ive used , optically very neutral Ill send you some to look at pm me your email address it works very well on my Fujinon B4 ENG zooms as they have back focus to aquire the image it produces 3cm infront of the taking lens on a regular lens with no back focus you need a +3 diopter behind it it can be used infront of any lens inc anamorphics
-
it must be Microsoft not supporting AVCHD properly I use VLC to preview and no issues there Dische - just use that it works peaking is hit and miss with older legacy lenses , but its all better then no peaking , I leave it on all the time now
