  1. yes please!! looks like fun , great for stealing shots as its so small ! just hope the footage looks good!!
  2. go into the menu on the gh2 and turn on 'shoot without lens ' which you need on for a manual focus lens on the gh2 this stops the camera hunting for a fly by wire panasonic electric lens when you have fitted a manual lens onto the camera then focus the lens by turning the focusing ring , you can use the x10 focus assist to zoom in and check your focus is correct just push in the wheel on the back with your thumb this activates x10 zoom in.
  3. I have Canon L series lenses like you and hi end Zeiss lenses and the Canons are very very close we are talking minute differances here as CANON L series glass has aspheric elements like the Zeiss lenses do , the Zeiss lenses do have a certain 3d type 'pop' value to them if used correctly but its a close call with the Canons
  4. not telephoto but more like a standard lens have a look at Pentax 25mm f1.4 c mount Fujinon 25mm f1.4 c mount (need a quick mod to work on micro 4/3 adaptor) both good sharp cheap and fast with superb narrow depth of field on GM1
  5. for the price of renting you could buy a Carl Zeiss Flektogon 35mm f2.4 ....great lens , great contrast Schott Glass and very sharp or try the Sigma 30mm f1.4 great lens razor sharp wide open at f1.4 just as good as Zeiss , I use this lens alot
  6. 14mm is insanley sharp 14-42 is also very sharp a few stops slower , stabalisation is very useful to have if you are outside in daylght you will be around f5.6 any how so the faster aperture of the 14mm does not get used all focus manually very easily no issues and are will built (all panny modern lenses are plastic )
  7. try the new ASPH II kit lens 14-42mm NOW HAS 2 ASPHERIC ELEMENTS AND IS VERY SHARP plus stabalisation is now better than the old kit lens.... this new kit lens is shipping with the G6 and all new panny cameras plus the 14mm f2.4 is very good , very sharp and a great lens
  8. a great small tiny lens I use for street shots in towns and Cities is the Pentax 110 18mm f2.8 it is small ....I mean tiny !!!! - sharp - cheap and does not wobble around so is stable with no image stabalisation great on my GH2 and G6 hand held
  9. also check out the Canon L Series 24-105 a superb work horse lens, very sharp
  10. very nicely said . it's so true ! it's how you use the lenses creatively !! deep focus shots are essential to any film, I would hate to look at a film shot entirely with a 1 inch depth of field !
  11. Maxotics , your posts are always very informative , I am still waiting for that gold plated G6 from you!! haha! I do like zooms with aspheric elements , some are sharper than my primes , so shop around as it all depends on what job you need the lens for. Sharp zooms are useful if you have to shoot fast as they require less set up time changing lenses for every shot.
  12. Alot of people think lens 'bokeh' is the filmic look and anything with a narrow DOF looks like film and anything shot f11 and below looks like video! this is the bain of many a camera discussion on this forum , nothing to do with the camera , all to do with how it was shot and what apperture was used , this dictates if people 'like it' as its filmic or hate it because it looks like video!! Deep Focus is great ................go watch Citizen Kane......all shot deep focus!! haha!! .
  13. yes a superb Camera ! Ive just spent 10 days shooting in Los Angeles with two G6's and they performed great
  14. Canon FD 24-35mm L Series lens with aspheric elements is a killer lens on GH3 / G6 etc razor sharp and a very useful focal range with a x2 crop

    Adapter

just found one of my minolta md lenses...... its not that mount come on guys what is this mount??

    Adapter

it will not work on a Canon EF camera as the distane to the sensor is too small read up on Flange focal distances http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flange_focal_distance
  17. Ive had a good look thru all my lenses and I cant find what this is!! I can tell you what its not not pentax K Bayonet, Rollei QBM, Olympus OM, Contax Yashica , Nikon, Fujica X, Praktica pb, Minolta A, Konica AR anyone else want to have a look at this ? what is it???
  18. G6 is superb ,also does 24p and 25p

    Adapter

looks like Konica AR Bayonet mount from the position of the 3 flanges and the apperture lever if it is the flange focal distance is 40.50 mm so it wont work on a Canon which is 44mm FFD
  20. get a Panasonic G6 - easy work flow and superb camera ,
  21. what gets you the 'film look' is how you use your lenses , you can make any camera look like video if you use it how Axel describes above, I agree with him on this , a Canon 5d can look cinematic when used right and like video if used wrong, a good collection of lenses for your camera will give to a film look be it a Nikon Panasonic or Canon
  22. peaking works best with sharp lenses with ASPHERIC elements , soft legacy lenses are not so good on peaking, .....not as many defined edges to peak out to be honest Ive still not used the level meter yet !! ever!! its not really that important !
  23. sounds good have fun , the Nikon is a push pull zoom so be careful for video the Nikon 28-70mm f2.8 is the lens used on Bourne Ultimatum ...now that is a killer sharp lens, internal zooms too.
  24. 50mm f1.2 will be soft wide open , I have the Porst 50mm f1.2 and it is also soft wide open , its just a fact of physics - once you get an apperture over f1.4 softness and blooming are ususally present unless you start spending silly money . Canon make a very sharp 50mm f1.4 , so do Carl Zeiss the Plannar , superb lens I dont use lenses over f1.4 ever as they all tend to be soft / have chromatic abrasion issues and blooming and are not really usable!! stop down your Nikon 50mm below f2 it will sharpen up alot
