  1. I agree with Axel 50mm Full Frame and above is used in most films these days as a standard. DOPs like Roger Deakins tend to use a 32mm lens on the Alexa alot of the time , a large part of SKYFALL is shot on a 32mm lens that is approx 50mm on a Full Frame Camera, http://www.theestablishingshot.com/2012/02/establishing-shot-skyfall-vauxhall.html http://007bond.weebly.com/skyfall-clapperboards.html looking at all these clapperboards on the link above it looks like 4 main lenses where used alot! 27mm 32mm 35mm 100mm this is an interesting read http://www.rogerdeakins.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1580
  2. Im selling my Hacked Panasonic GH2 body with Nick Driftwood Quantum 9B updated hack plus San Disk Extreme Pro 64gb 95m/bs SD card http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231133066555?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1586.l2649 Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GH2 16.0 MP Digital Camera Black + Driftwood Quantum 9b hack + plus San Disk Extreme Pro 64gb 95m/bs SD card Hacked Panasonic GH2 Nick Driftwood Quantum 9B update hack plus San Disk Extreme Pro 64gb 95m/bs SD card 18 months old superb camera the best non RAW camera on the market. This camera now produces Hollywood Quality movie footage: I have added the classic Nick Driftwood Quantum 9b updated firmwear hack to the camera. This now produes a stunning 150-170mb/s image , stunning detail and colour rendition. This is the hack that was used on the famous Zaccuto Camera shoot out when Hollywood Movie Director Francis Ford Capolla picked the Panasonic GH2 with the Quantum 9b hack as his favourite over all the cameras including Sony F65 and Red Epic etc. The camera comes with the original box and all the goodies that come with it Original Panasonic OEM battery battery charger charger lead Panasonic GH2 strap and all the cables plus instruction manual and cd discs that come with it ITS ALSO COMES WITH SAN SANDISK EXTREME PRO 64GB 95 MB/S SD CARD. This is the card Nick Driftwood designed his hack to work with, its gives you 55 minuites of recording time at full 150-170 mb/s rate. The hack will only work with this card as it is a very fast read and write speed card, so I am including this card so you can use the camera straight out the box without having to find the correct card to use with this hacked GH2. The firmwear hack is very stable and Ive not had any issues with it. Hacked cameras can sometimes lock up under certain conditions, so Nick Driftwood recomcnds if this happens is turn the camera off and pull the battery out and then replace the battery and turn the camera back on , this resets eveything and you are good to go again. The rear screen does have a couple of scratches on it in the middle , this does not effect the image when the screen is on you cant see it as the screen is bright. The camera is 18 months old and is in good used condition, see pictures close up , all fully functioning and ready right out the box to shoot your next project, just add a lens and off you go. This is a PAL camera it shoots 24p and 25p hacked AVCHD
  3. very well put Julian a 'standard lens' seeing the field ROUGHLY of view of the human eye is 50mm on Full Frame 35mm camera 35mm on a s35mm movie film camera 25mm on a Panasonic micro 4/3 camera I end up thinking of all 3 depending of what camera Im using, 5D, 550D, G6
  4. YES IT DOES the focus assist works on all manual lenses just make sure you switch the camera menu to - shoot without lens this stops it looking for a panasonic auto type lens I use this focus assist all the time on my G6 and GH2 to line up every shot in focus G6 is easier ait it does have peaking to which I now leave on all the time - its handy to have
  5. no all these lenses are fully manual focus - I never ever use autofocus to shoot video - ever!!! as it never works properly - manual focus only for me
  6. f.095 on a micro 4/3 camera is a depth of field of less the 1cm ....about 5mm !! I find it unusable for shooting video peoples noses are infocus and eyes are out of focus and f0.95 is usually very soft fully open so before you spend a fortune think how often will you use it at f0.95 ......if you shoot arty stuff its fine if you shoot people........5mm is too arty for me I sold mine as I never found it usable
  7. also the Canon fd mount 24-35mm L series lens is an amazing lens for shooting video , it has aspheric elements and a cinematic look like no other lens I have it is PL mount cinema lens quality the images it produces for video. insanely sharp with great colors.
  8. YASHICA 24MM F2.8 is an amazing lens - Carl Zeiss Distagon equivilant , my go to standard lens on micro 4/3 amazing contrat and colors at a fraction of the price of a zeiss distagon Fujinion C mount 25mm f1.4 is a very fast stunning lens very very sharp even wide open and great contrast and color this is now my favourite 25mm for micro 4/3 - its very very sharp and fast pentax 25mm f1.4 c mount superb rich warm colors and great zeiss like contrast sigma fd 24mm 2.8 great sharp lens and cheap
  9. the canon L is a very good lens very sharp
  10. just the battery for the Sony F35 costs more than a Panasonic G6 - the thread was for a sub £1000 camera not a Hollywood beast it weighs over 5kgs without any lens or lens support rig!! its massive not really a run and gun skateboard camera
  11. I do find the 14-42 mm kit lens to be useful - it is very very sharp and has aspheric elements and image stabalisation which is useful too - I use this lens outside alot for run and gun situations dont confuse Canons kit lenses with Panasonics , the Panny lens is very good unlike Canons kit lens
  12. yes you can use all your m42 primes , plus almost any other mount too as micro 4/3 will take alot more lenses than a canon can so you can use Minolta, Praktica Bayonet, Contax N Mount, Konica mount , Pentax 110 , c mount , Rolli QBM , the list is endless!! plus all these lenses go alot cheaper as you cant use them on a Canon .....I mean really cheap on ebay The g6 has flat picture styles you can shoot on , I use Natural with contrast and saturation dialed down to -3 .......it works well for me
  13. Panasonic G6 is superb I highly recomend it the best non RAW camera out there right now and its $400 on ebay - a bargin and the crop factor is x2 so you only need an 8mm lens for your fisheye shots
  14. there is a collar that has grub screws securing it to the innards of the lens are these grub screws secure?? if not it will just rotate and not focus I had this issue on a Cosmicar /Pentax 25mm f1.4 c mount lens , tighten them up and it works ok
  15. just a point of note ...... 50p 1920x1080 on my G6 is noisier than 25p or 24p even though it is a higher bit rate per second so check this on your Nikon too I personally would stick with 25p 1/50 for most work , It will look cleaner
  16. yes this happens alot , I have a whole bunch of adapters and alot of them 'wiggle' I have found it to be a random occurance between batches of the same adapter , I have 3 fd to micro 4/3 adapters all the same make one fits like a glove perfect no wiggle the other two wiggle and the same with my C/Y to micro 4/3 one is great the other 2 move a bit on the body - its just a manufacturing issue , if you buy a few you will get one that fits ok. Minolta to m4/3 - one wiggles one fits fine olympus same as above one ok one wiggles you can solve the wiggle by using ptfe plumbers tape and put a small piece across the adaptor and lock it onto the body , this makes a tighter join and stops the wiggle
  17. you should also get a Yashica ML 24MM f2.8 and Yashica ML 28MM F2.8 both are widely regarded as Carl Zeiss Distagon equivelants made in the same factory in Japan , also the Zeiss vario sonnar 28-70mm in C/Y mount is a stunning lens , aspheric elements and sharper than my canon l series lenses - all the zeiss contrast and colours we all like too Zeiss glass is the way to go!! also Carl Zeiss 80mm f2.8 Biometar is stunning too
  18. there are some mega deals on ebay UK right now for G6's as low as £250 !! these are bodies that have been bought on Amazon with the 14-140mm lens - the seller then removes the lens from the kit and sells on the body cheap - as new! http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p3984.m570.l1313.TR5.TRC1.A0.Xpanasonic+g6&_nkw=panasonic+g6&_sacat=0&_from=R40
  19. its easy to clean , breath on the sensor then wipe gently with a cotton bud then use a giotto bomb blower to remove any lint off the cotton bud on the sensor the sensor is covered by plastic so you are not actually touching the senor so it is safe to clean I have done this on all my cameras canon and panasonic and never had any problems I even do this out in the field or on set quickly is I see a dirty sensor from lens changes. Coming from a film background where you checked the gate every time you changed a lens , I still do this all on panasonic cameras as there is no mirror , carry a giottos bomb and cleaning materials all the time with you. if you have a stubborn bit of dirt use diluted isopropanol 50/50 with water solution pure isopropanal leaves a white residue as it evaporates off your sensor
  20. there is a review on cheesecam website look ok for the money , fd mount version will be out soon too.....
  21. buy Andrew Reeds new GH3 shooters guide and all will be revealed on how to set up your camera correctly see link at top of this forum
