yes no 50p - you cant get everything in 1 camera - so I used GH2 and G6 both work well together
-
Its really not rocket science this - there is no trick involved in this - I have better things to do , yes Panasonic have made a camera that is a vast improvement on the hacked GH2 and that was a very very good camera this whole forum was 'hacked GH2 central' 18 months ago Ive used all the latest cameras and tested them and G6 wins hands down for what I do its a very cheap priced camera and out performs cameras 4 times its price too (50p 1080 slo mo) so if you hate it resell it on ebay! this does not have a to be a long drawn out process - I bought mine from Vitaily at personalview.com as soon as they came out and it has no recording limit on it , non of this EU 30min restrictions

there is now plenty of into out there that the G6 is a superb camera we have all been using them for the past 3 months with no issues at all
-
buy Andrew Reeds GH2 shooters guide ebook off this site , it has a big section on basic filming techniques and will be very useful to you as it inclides tips on how to set up your camera - yes its a GH2 book but the basic set up and filmimg principles apply to any camera http://www.eoshd.com/gh2-guide-book

ideally with no budget restraints... filming protests - outside weather could be bad - camera gets wet alot!! So either a Canon 5dMK11 or MK111 as both have weather sealed bodies Most pro news stills camera men use Canon 5ds that work for newspapers plus embedded reporters with armed forces in Afghanistan use Canon 5ds too as they are rugged and weather proof and they can shoot stills and video with them and they are smaller than large shoulder mounted ENG cameras .

Airshows are great for caputing low flying shots of MIlitary aircraft legally with no issues - Ive just shot some WW2 warbirds this summer at airshows - for free

The EVF and rear screen are 100x better than the GH2 - so I dont use a minitor at all -OLED screens - superb Im using a 32GB sd card and thats 2 and a half hours recording AVCHD - so I have never charged a card while shooting yet! If you use a 64gb card thas 5 HOURS of AVCHD recording x2 crop factor for me is a bonus as all my C mount lenses work WITHOUT any vingetting like they did on my GH2 the Pentax 25mm f1.4 count cctv lens is Canon L series type sharp and costs £40 on ebay and does not vingette at all on the G6 - this is now one of my main lenses it is so good giving a Full frame field of view of 50mm The reason why you want the GH2 sensor in the G6 is the way it renders detail so sharply with NO MOIRE at all - it is superb like the GH2 is

Julian on this forum has already done that 3 months ago, read his extensive informative thread - it was his posts that convinced me to buy the G6

The G6 has colors like a Canon camera - Panasonic have massively upped the game with the G6 it is a BIG improvement over the GH2 - same sensor but better image and massive boost in color rendition - I was shocked when I first got the camera how much Panasonic have listened to all us GH2 ' Hackers ' yes I used my GH2 hacked for 2 years on jobs great camera shot lots of work with it ,with the G6 Panasonic have made a BIG effort to make a camera that does not need hacking and has all the improvemets we wanted from them The G6 colors are NOTHING LIKE the GH2 - it does not even have the same color profiles -Nostalgic and Smooth are GONE - replaced by new batter color profile more like CANON camera...... Im not a 'fan boy' of the G6 just someone who bought it very early on and shoots pop videos for MTV etc so I use it everyday for work so I have battle tested this camera for 3 months now , and it has not let me down once , There are lot of very very cautious people on this forum who ponder over cameras to the 'nth' degree , G6 for me is better than GH2 and GH3 that I have tested it directly against - So Im passing on my knowledge of this camera as there are lot of 'myths' about it I keep reading on this forum from people who have never used the camera who are just repeating other 'myths' they have read...... it works!!

thats not an iscorama you have been ripped off!!

I cant see the need to hack the G6 its great out the box
-
if you read all the past posts on the GH3 you will find it has a 3rd party sensor (not made by Panasonic )that is not as good as the g6 sensor and has more moire read up on it , its all on this site over the past 5 months we have debated it to death G6 has monitoring on the body too - If you like your hacked GH2 you will love the G6 read this thread too http://www.eoshd.com/comments/topic/3490-nikon-d5200-or-lumix-g6-for-all-around-camera/#entry42572

G6 cannot be hacked yet as Panasonic have not yet released any firmware update for it as it is so new I bought my G6 from Vitaily at personalview.com and he has said to me there will be no hack until the firmware is released and also he may not hack it as it is so good 'out the box' .....it beats my hacked gh2s hands down

G6 .....No contest .....there is already a thread here on the G6 have a good read of it http://www.eoshd.com/comments/topic/3505-best-camera-for-movies-on-a-budget/

I am selling my Bausch and Lomb x2 Anamorphic lens at the Bargin price of £299.00 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231070700596?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1586.l2649 It comes with Tecnoir 15mm lens support holder that keeps the lens correctly horizontally aligned by locking the rear of the Anamorphic lens in the correct Horizontal position and ready to slide onto your 15mm rod rig - its that easy no clamps are needed. Bausch and Lomb x2 Anamorphic lenses produce amazing blue flares - perfect for Canon 5D Magic Lantern RAW

I dont use vari NDs as the give odd artifacts and color shifts to your image , I have used regular screw on NDs on the Panasonic 14mm It takes a 46mm ND - I use Cokin ND filters as they do not soften the image and are all uniform and give a good look ND4 in cloud outside and ND8 in sunlight

the feature film 'Upstream Color' was shot on a Panansonic GH2 the cinematography is supeb it looks stunning and has had a world wide cinematic release - yes it has been on show here in the UK GH2 has the same sensor as the G6 - the G6 produces an even nicer image than the GH2 so I dont see Panasonic cameras as limiting in any way what so ever - you can sucessfully make a feature film for Theatrical Release with a Panasonic Camera - 8 bit 4.2.0 makes no differance to Cinema audiances http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Upstream_Color

If I turned up at the edit suite with Canon ML RAW file my editor would have a heart attack due to the file size and processing time need to make anything look remotely useable for the client to see!! plus for me it would just take far too long to work with doing basic edits ! never mind time grading from a flat RAW image . G6 gives stunningly sharp image way better than any stock Canon camera right out the box and small files sizes too every quick and easy to work with less $$$$$ in the edit suite!
-
nobody is comparing the Canon 5DMK111 ML RAW on this thread if you read the top post it is about a stock Canon . I am NOT using ML RAW on my Canon as it is way too labor intensive to work with right now for my clients they will not pay for time converting massive files and the inconvenience of ML RAW its just not worth it.

I am commenting on the above topic .......I did not film the houses / bricks etc..........I have both a G6 and Canon 5D MK111 and have done extensive tests with both shooting pop videos - there are lots of faces to film in pop videos!! thats what I do ! I use the Canon for stills and the G6 for shooting almost everything now .......G6 renders moving images much nicer for me I prefer it for my work. There are alot of people commenting on the G6 that it looks like video who have never used the camera just watched footage online and as big user of G6 Im saying it is not videoey at all when used correctly !
-
there is alot of misconception about the G6 looking video - this is not so - I use the G6 extensively and it shoots superb cinematic looking footage day in day out. What alot of people preceive as 'video looking' is they are watching test footage on youtube or vimeo shot deep focus around - f11 -f22 on akit lens and they saying 'oh the G6 looks video' - a Canon at f11 looks very Videoish I was shooting outside last weekend on a BRAND NEW Canon 5DMK111 with my 24-105mm L series lens on it and it looks very videish just because I had the camera set at f16 as it was very sunny outside, so HUGE depth of field everything is in focus!! = video looking !! Get the G6 camera in your hands use it yourself and it shots stunning cinematic images - it takes all my fast glass and renders great narrow depth of field footage full of lovely Bokeh.!! Having tested G6 against 5DMK111 in my opinion G6 wins hands down in image detail and look and sharpness of the image , I only use Canon on certain jobs if the client wants it G6 is my main camera - nuff said!!

G6 is a superb camera - best new camera out there right now
