-
sounds good! go for it - great lens very useful I shoot Canon too so I use it on both Cameras
-
I use the Sigma 30mm alot its one of my favoutite lenses sharp and fast I do recomend it also very good on a Canon dont forget the Carl Zeiss 35mm f2.4 flektogon a superb lens and lot cheaper
-
a very interesting read thanks

I have them in a flight case (foam cut out to the correct shape to support the whole setup) all correctly ligned up before I go to the job. Then I can just slide the whole setup onto my 15mm rods and Im ready to go.

I'm with Andrew on this - too many people are trying to compare cameras - lenses etc off clips on youtube and vimeo You cant !!! there just is not enough detail there The only way to test gear is in your own hands doing A/Bs against stuff you know. A hacked GH2 file is incredably detailed - you just cannot see any of that on YT or Vimeo. Anyhow the bottom line is the G6 is just another tool to get the job done and its got a sensor I like alot!
-
GH2 hacked is the best non raw camera on the market - the level of detail that sensor creates is stunning Mine are kicking out 170mb/s and I cannot stress how good the image is so yes the GH2 sensor does indeed have a magic it is in a differnt league to the GF and G series cameras now we have a G6 with this sensor too....

Kubrick used front Projection for the Apes sequence where he smashes the skull This new version looks very interesting - and expensive!! I like the way the light spills onto the actors which ties them into the enviroment and looks real.
-
Front projection is an old trick its been used since the 40's it produces a sharper image than rear projection also used in FX shots alot.... ILM front projected onto Scotchlite on Matte Paintings in Jedi and in the Indy films matte paintings by Michael Pangrazio and Harrison Ellenshaw back in the days of optical printers like THE QUAD. But on this scale it looks amazing! on set huge screens

yeah 10 mins was the limit , I have lots of cans of short ends in my garage ! the 1 minute that never got used!!
-
I'm done with Green screen this is the way forward! its looks so much better - all shot in camera and no post green replacement for months Mr Cruise seems to like it too! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DCkIuv82Q4&feature=player_embedded

I shot on film for years since the early 90's and it required planning , care, storyboards , attention and money!! every time you rolled the camera. You only shot what you really needed . Now I shoot 10 times more footage on multiple cameras on every shoot there is alot more creative freedom. You can try all those mad ideas and see if they work !
