Someone in china will sell you M, EF and Nikon mount ones: http://petapixel.com/2013/04/02/sigma-dp-cameras-hacked-to-play-nicely-with-leica-m-lenses/

I have a DP3 Merrill, it's lovely. Oh, I mean the images are lovely, it's a pig you have to wrestle with, as is the Sigma Photo Pro software, which i believe is steam powered. I hate what they've done here with the new models, made a sort of half foveon. Why not just up the processor speed and card write speed and buffer, and keep proper, true film like Foveon X3? They've created a compromise, rather than pushing the most promising photographic technology out there. It makes me sad. BOO! Grow some nuts, Sigma!

Hmmm such a big reduction screams "new product" to me! The pocket 2 I assume!

I can't see those images, perhaps use a free online pic host: postimage.org tinypic.com There are Sony official LUTs to go from S-gamut to 709 too: LUTS: RosolveCubeFiles.zip â€2699 KB DOCUMENTATION: SonyLookProfilesSummaryV1_1.pdf â€450 KB EDIT: found the images, I don't understand what they represent though :S

Panasonic GH4 vs Sony A7S compared - who wins the 4K battle on paper?
jgharding replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
It's the most Alexa like non Alexa footage I've used. I think the A7S will be my second cam, it's rockin. If they didn't force all that range into 8-bit it would be much better still though. It's a bit of a waste of a great log system. Canon Clog is designed for 8-bit primarily. The much flatter Sony Slog2 is designed for 10-bit, realistically. The A7S gives you a taster,so you still need to be careful. -
They should add 444 too if they haven't. It's a lot more colour resolution and great for secondaries. It's what I use on Alexa when I use it.

Ah I get it! Yeah it's just such a big discount I couldn't believe it, but I suppose it's just evidence of how much profit goes on UK sales...
-
You definitely won't have a warranty at that price, but the huge discount is probably worth it. I have a feeling they're somehow getting them at internal discount prices and selling them on. That's not really allowed, so it may not last.
-
Great news! Plus you can use a speed booster to get back to full frame and regain some light.
-
Ah I didn't know that! I've not used a lot of Epic to be honest, but a few larger shoots.

Atomos setup guide for the Panasonic GH4 and 10bit external recording
jgharding replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
That's a real shame... C100 for example uses an interlaced container, but it is progressive, you just interpret it to progressive. -
GH4 I reckon you have more pixels to work with, so do your action shooting (or the whole thing) in 4K, do the post in 4K and deliver 1080p covered up with a bit of grain.

The colour tones in A7s are so cool in tone. For some reason it can't do green properly. But nor can my favorite 35mm stock, the cheapo Kodak Ultramax 400. All the trees and so on have a weird plastic look, but to be honest the overall tonality is more film-like in feeling. It doesn't feel "real", but it feels really really good.

I think the ideal is probably to have a sensor larger than S35, where 4K is the central S35 portion, 5 or 6k is your full frame, and smaller crops from the center are capabale of higher frame rates. Then using an amazing compressed raw codec. But wait, That's a Red Epic! Red do get some things right ;) shame the footage just doesn't look as nice as Arri's
-
FS700 gives you better rolling shutter, ND filters built-in... fun slow mo! It's not a great codec, but it can look good. This was most fun I ever had with my clothes on, on a shoot, in a Welsh cottage.
-
The more i play with the footage the more i want it. It's like Alexa in some way after careful handling... but I think I prefer it in some ways. Don't tell anyone though. The noise is pretty high on S-Log when you pause, but in motion it's fine. Rolling shutter is so sad though. True to form, Sony have one feature that really sucks in an otherwise excellent product :( such a slow read time at 12MP. Maybe it's a heat issue in the small body?
-
I don't think discussion about noise between the two makes a lot of sense really. Look at James Miler's ISO 80,000 clip, no micro 4 3rds camera can do this that i know of. We're talking about physics as well as processing, it has four times the light gathering area. You can gain a stop or so with a speed booster, but not 3 or 4! True, log doesn't actually change the chip, and it's hard to expose, but it does have the effect of protecting highlights if you use it right EDIT: ah that video has been posted above while i was writing..

Oh yeah i didn't realise what ya meant, yeah it bumps at the ends to show its the end, since the ring can turn indefinitely...

Great post, this is what I like forum communities for! I'm considering both, I'm leaning to A7s at the moment as I like low light, s-Log 2 a lot more than cinelike-d, and I prefer the colour so far. Seems like there are quite a few caveats to using the A7s though... hmm...
-
I used one and don't recall any clicks. Bonkers!

Super smooth! Very cinematic feel to the movement...
