I know it already clearly illustrated elsewhere, but the Hero6 is without a doubt a step up from the Hero5. You just have to decide if those improvements are useful to you. I've got a few Hero5's and they stay at home unless I need an extra or dummy cam now that I have the Hero6

I personally haven't had a problem with 10bit FS7 or 12bit Blackmagic footage. Sucks about the GH5.

I see what you mean regarding a GH5-type camera and that would be awesome. Maybe this is still in the cards for them in the near future, but I can also see why they are doing what they are. Problems as a new camera company aside, the image out of the Ursa Mini is amazing for that price. I can see why anyone would be excited by this cam and the possibilities with their tech that only they know at this point. I'm hoping they have the predicted success with their pro model and maybe we'll see these other cams like a new pocket sooner.

We have an FS7 at work and the only time I use it is for slow mo and when that time comes I hate it every time. Doesn't hold a candle to BM IMO.

Just like the documentary called Bombay Beach that was shown in theaters and shot with a Canon Vixia. I loved my GH2 GH3 and GH4, but they really don't hold a candle to my BMPCC and if I spend six months or longer writing a story, creating a treatment and storyboarding there is no fucking way I'd choose any of those cams over a bmpcc or bmmcc.

Here's the funny thing about that comment. It still is a pocket camera in a way. I use my pocket both on and off my Beholder gimbal while keeping my Jukebox in my sweatshirt pocket, at the ready, between shots. Works like a charm and I've yet to run out of battery in a day. The image coming out of the pocket took some working to make easier, but as tech has progressed so many new products have come out to make this cam better. I have few complaints with my pocket cam.

Having used the Micro for several months now I've yet to see the strong "berserk" moire. Perhaps if I'm peeping I could find it, but nothing I've seen so far using this camera for work and personal stuff has caused alarm. Not saying it can't and won't happen, but I love my Micro. I also have the pocket, but I use the micro 90% between the two for the battery and 60p. If you don't need the slow mo, the battery is definitely worth it.

My point is, if comparing to a P4, how stable is the Mavic? I know how stable mine is. I'd imagine that just by size that the Mavic is less. I'm not even talking s about it. The Mavic looks like a lot of fun. I don't know enough about it, but as I stated above, I can't see a possibility that is as smooth and stable as a P4 is in flight. If it is, then your statement is probably correct. Unless you are only talking about racing, then you are most surely correct.

The one you posted saying "nothing compares in this panoramic."

Compared to my Phantom 4 the Mavic looks really squirrely and all over the place. I'll reserve real judgement for when I fly one, but from this video only it appears clearly the Phantom 4 is way more stable in flight.

I started in photography prior to video. I too wouldn't take my GH4 on a shoot for stills. I'd take a Nikon or Canon.

I shoot professional gigs every week with Blackmagic cameras and I have not had one issue with reliability. My job sometimes is to capture both video and stills and I have way more issues with my Nikon D800/D3s freezing up and having to eject the battery, etc .. Had the pocket since it came out and have never had an issue with it in terms of reliability. Micro Cinema, no issues yet either.

I hear all those Pocket gripes and I've experienced all of them, but I have a GH4, Pocket and Micro and the GH4 sits on the shelf. The image on those little cams is so much better IMO. If I need the extra slow mo I'd use it or borrow the FS7 from work, but when I look back at a whole summer of footage from last year the GH4 shots mixed with the Pocket the GH4 shots stand out and not in a good way. I guess if I didn't shoot with both maybe I wouldn't have a problem with it. And it definitely is the batteries on the Pocket. Like Renaissance Man, sounds like Wasabi Power or other cheap batteries. All my cheapie give me issues. Even are hard to get out of the battery compartment.

I've done it before too, but obviously the 502 is worlds apart.

I've been using a Mac Pro for about a year and a half and my company just supplied me with the newest top of the line 5k iMac. The Mac Pro blows it away. To me, it isn't even close. Would I have been happy with the iMac if I hadn't been using the Mac Pro? Perhaps.

Hey Aaron. Glad to see you like the 4.6k, especially from someone who wasn't sold on it early on. I almost bought one, but my budget took me in other directions and I settled for the Micro for the time being, which I'm pretty happy with so far. I've been so busy working I haven't had the chance to read all the forums, but I'm assuming yours isn't suffering from the magenta vignette so many are panicking about?

I've been using Nanosecond Super Extreme Thin high speed HDMI cables with my SmallHD502 and they work great, especially if you ever want to put your monitor on a gimbal. The thin super flexible cable also tends to stay out of your way a little better, IMO.
