DCP doesn't have anything to do with raw files loading or not. The dcp is just the color profile. If you don't have it, Adobe will apply a standard one. What kind of error are you getting when trying to open a raw file in Photoshop? Try opening Bridge, right click a file: 'open in camera raw'.

Rent something. There's nothing affordable that does 1000 fps with good resolution. I think the Sony FS700 still gives the best high speed for the money. Goes up to 960 fps, but quality drops hard.

I think this could make a really cool short actionmovie. Like the trailer... Just add more variation and a better story. 90+ minutes of this? No thanks.

So what? If someone has the budget for it, why would they have to start with something cheap? I agree a cheap kit is fine to learn and make great stuff, but a better camera is not worse in any way. Let people enjoy their money / hobby however they want. Also it helps the economy ;) @zenpmd: check out the Vimeo Videoschool. Lots of stuff, can browse by category. One video that was really helpful for me is this one. It's about motion design, but handles a lot of things that are related to video. I also have a photography background, working with motion adds a new dimension of course. This video helped me out with basic things like how to cut from shot to shot and gives a good explanation of the message different kinds of fades/cuts send to the viewer.

Sadly there's no cheap subscription that adds Premiere Pro, like there is for Lightroom/Photoshop. So you have to go full price in the Creative Cloud, or use something else... For grading (if you shoot s-log for example), you can try Davinci Resolve. It's free and very powerful. Lots of tutorials on Vimeo/Youtube. I think the newest version also has some basic editing options.

Oh no, not the cropfactor vs dof discussion again :) http://***URL removed***/articles/2666934640/what-is-equivalence-and-why-should-i-care

A GH4 in your pocket - Panasonic LX100 with 4K and Micro Four Thirds sensor
Julian replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I haven't seen any moire either. Didn't shoot much with it though - no brick walls or anything. But plenty footage with a big depth of field and everything looks very detailed, no moire. Maybe it shows on a test chart... but I don't think that's going to be a deal breaker. It sure has a 43mm filter thread. I've put a filter on it. -
@Andrew: Regarding S-log and mechanical shutter I've just read at Imaging Resource that the A7S switches to 12 bit raw (stills) when using electronic shutter, while it is 14 bits with mechanical shutter. Apparently that's a common thing to do, to achieve faster readout when using electronic shutter. Since you have to enable mechanical shutter, the sensor is forced to work in 14 bit. Sounds like this means the A7S uses the 14 bit raw data to make the S-log2 image. Of course the resulting file is still 8 bit, but coming from a 14 bit source.

Did you check the diopter setting? Sounds like you turned the dial by accident...

Really? They are H265 files, right? Are you on Mac or Windows?
-
Thanks gents. Hoped for a native solution, but I suppose we will have to wait for Adobe to update Premiere Pro. Will give Handbrake a try.

I'm trying to load some h265 files in Premiere Pro. Doesn't work. It doesn't give an error, just keeps saying 'Media Pending'. Tried google, but I only find stuff like: http://www.cinemartin.com/cinec/plin/ - plugins to export h265. The iPhone 6 shoots h265 and I suppose some people want to edit their footage on their computer. Is there a plugin/codec I can install to get it to work in Premiere? If not, what would be the best/easiest workflow? (Windows). Already installed some codecs on my computer to get smooth playback - this works fine now.

That's a real anamorphic shot for sure. The flares in the trailer probably are a combination of real and added effects. The screen shot is a real flare for sure. You can check the details on IDMB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1291150/technical?ref_=tt_dt_spec Shot on Arri Alexa Plus in 4:3 with Panavision anamorphic lenses.

Someone has to make a dolly zoom shot with this lens, the whole range of it. That'd be awesome :D It's 6,6 kg. Canon advertises it as small and lightweight, but it's not really a lens you are going to carry around in a bag for wildlife photography. Also, how cheap would a cheaper version be? $20K is still crazy. Also, what is the point of 50-1000mm? How often do you want to change from 50 to 1000mm in photography? If you do, it's much easier to use two camera's with different lenses. If you want this kind of reach with photography, go with a 400mm f/2.8, or 600mm f/4 and add a 2x / 1.4x converter. Thats what wildlife photographers do. I don't think they'd prefer a 6 kg 50-1000mm f/8. Some cheap alternatives for those 400mm / 600mm lenses would be nice though. Canon used to make a 400mm f/5.6L. Compact, high quality. They should make a high quality 600mm or 800mm f/8, that'd be interesting for wildlife/sports. Especially now image quality at high iso's is so good compared to a decade ago. If you want reach for less $$$, It'll be interesting to see how the new Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Sports performs, and coupled with the new Sigma 1.4x and 2x teleconverters.

Shooting a Feature on **** cameras, can you guest it?
Julian replied to Wild Ranger's topic in Cameras
Very nice teaser. Good showcase of those Nikons! -
They didn't shoot those movies with 2,4x cropfactor though. It will act as a 67-168mm telezoom on the GH4 (in 4K). Even with a speed booster you're not getting any wide angle.

Nice :) How did you do the revolving shot starting at 1:20? Saw a video with a similar shot a while a go and a BTS, they used a huge setup with a complete circle of rails etc. Made me think: is that really necessary? Because of the motion I guess you didn't use a rails, but it looks smooth. Stabilizer? slow motion probably helps too :) Which anamorphic lens did you use? 1.5x I guess - Iscorama? My only critique: I think it's a tad too flat. I like the flat look, but I think it could use a little bit more contrast.

Works fine, just use single AF instead of continuous AF. -
It takes two clicks to find comurits real name. It's good to be cautious, there's no need to be paranoid and start accusing people. There hasn't been any mention of sending money in advance. It's still just a list with people that are interested. This could work perfectly without sending money in advance by the way.

WTF Andy, why? Because he has a point on your business? How do you know this FM lens is cheap to manufature? Nobody has seen it in real life. And does the price matter? The maker can ask whatever he wants, even if it costs only $5 to make.
