  1. Yep, awesome job @Tito Ferradans. The Rectilux sure looks good, but so does the SLR Rangefinder... are you planning on getting one and comparing them Tito?
  2. Great review Andrew. I want one! @Andrew - SLR Magic: Will it be available somewhere in Europe for the promotional price?

Didn't know there is a 2x version. That would be even better on the GH4 in anamorphic mode!
  4. Great stuff Zak. The Kowa is really shining with this combination. The focus pulls in the close up video look a bit weird. Kinda like the squeeze factor is changing, depending on the focus distance (this is the case with some anamorphic lenses, right?) - or is it just focus breathing? In the outdoor shots I didn't really notice it. What apertures were you using in the outdoor shots? T2.8? Would love to see some shots at T0.95 or T1.4, not very practical I know, but I love the look of Killing them Softly!
  5. The Sunny f/16 rule is helpful to determine the approximate exposure for typical settings: Sunny: f/16 - ISO 100 - 1/100 Overcast: f/8 - ISO 100 - 1/100 Sunset: f/4 - ISO 100 - 1/100 In your case, ISO 800 = 1/800. You want 1/48 (1/50), so you need 4 stops of ND to correct for the shutter speed. And 1 to 5 extra stops of ND to compensate for the aperture if you want to shoot at f/2.8. 3 + 6 sounds about right. Enough to tame the bright sunlight when you combine them, and good for overcast/sunset using them separately.
  6. The Lanparte is for smartphones and GoPro's, not for dslr's... Compatible With:GoPro HD Hero 1 2 3 3+ ,iphone,Samsung galaxy S Series.etc. Smartphones within 5.7 inch
  7. My personal opinion: most people are crap at grading. This became evident when Magic Lantern RAW gave everyone the possibility to pull off extreme grades with the raw files... this resulted in a lot of terrible grades. Same happens with the LOG footage from the A7S and GH4. I think this is a a bigger issue than 8 bit vs 10 bit.

I love the Moller, I don't have one though. I'd pay a lot for it if it was single focus... I think it's the best baby for sure. I'm the lucky owner of a Petit Cinevision. It's probably not the best baby in town, but I love this little lens. Since I picked it up in 2013 I have never seen one again and it is impossible to find something about it on Google. A real unicorn! I really have to take my baby out sometime again...
  9. The Kowa (2x B&H) is know for it's sharpness with big apertures, right? Does the Rangefinder make it worse in this sense? Any chance on using bright lenses + speed booster + Kowa B&H 2x in combination with this filter?
  10. @Brian Caldwell Thanks for clearing that up. Didn't know about the firmware update. That's great news! The MFT sure looks nice, I'm not a fan of graphs though, I'd like to see the real life difference. @Andrew Reid, any chance you can compare the difference in image quality between the 'normal' (and/or XL) vs 'ultra' Speed Booster?
  11. Metabones just announced another focal reducer: http://metabones.com/article/of/Speed_Booster_ULTRA_0.71x The M43 - EF version has autofocus on Panasonic bodies 'subject to certain limitations' Price: From USD $449 to $649 depending on lens mount - $649 for the EF one with autofocus. http://metabones.com/products/details/MB_SPEF-M43-BT4 I'm kinda disappointed it's not 0.64x like the Speed Booster XL though. Did anyone ever test the 'normal' speed booster vs the 'ultra' version? Is there a clear difference? Autofocus supported for Canon EF version subject to the following known limitations: Contrast-detect autofocus support on Panasonic cameras only.AFC (continuous AF) and AFF (flexible AF) modes are not supported.Video AF may hunt more than a native lens.Autofocus is not supported with previous generation Tamron VC lenses and Contax N lenses modified to EF mount by Conurus Canada. (Newer Tamron lenses such as the 24-70/2.8 VC A007 and 70-200/2.8 VC A009 work fine.)Switching from manual focus or full-time manual focus (FTM) to autofocus may occasionally result in focus failing to lock or inaccurate focus. Activating autofocus for a second time will resolve this issue.AF accuracy is lens-dependent.
  12. @jbCinC_12 In fact, it is a kind of diopter. So indeed, you won't need a $500 Tokina Achromat anymore... Should work with the Sankor 16C, like any other lens.
  13. And it's 2x anamorphic... more oval bokeh! I know there are some 2x Isco's like yours, but finding one is impossible anyway.
  14. Very interested in this. Still looking for the most affordable / best / most convenient (not bulky like the FM module) way to get a single focus anamorphic lens. Would be perfect if it had a non rotating front, so I can use my variable ND filter - this one does rotate I suppose? Also, I'd love a baby version for my mini petit cinevision anamorphic.
  15. Interesting topic/subject, but why only highlight the 'bad' example? I agree a travel video is usually better when it consists of more than a collection of beautiful land/cityscapes. Usually I like road trip videos better, even if their production value might not be as awesome as some of the travel videos. Some examples I like: This is just a guy travelling with some friends, a GH4 + 12-35mm 2.8 and a DJI Phantom 2. Simple, but great atmosphere: Simple action cam footage, but nothing gets me more into the travel mood than a video like this. And for some reason it makes me want to buy a Nikon
  16. Why wait... I think it's likely Sony will release the A7000 earlier than October. Pretty sure it will get 4K and S-Log (even the compacts have it, so Sony won't hold it back from any future camera). And then the rumors about V-Log being a paid upgrade... I wouldn't be happy with that, as a GH4 owner.
  17. @Mattias Burling great video, thanks for sharing!
  18. I guess most enthusiasts finally figured out the EOS 700D is crap, so Canon is looking for a new target audience. You can see them pictured on the right of the box. Their dad will pay anyway. It's offensive to ask $899,99 for this kit of crap.
  19. Something went wrong with your translation. It's 2 billion pixels https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=nl&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fnews.panasonic.com%2Fjp%2Ftopics%2F2015%2F43994.html&edit-text=&act=url 4K is not relevant for this setup. They are using the photo mode and max. resolution of the sensor. So actually it is 1,911,029,760 pixels of information (120 x 4608x3456 pixels). Basically this could be done with any stills camera. The only challenge is to synchronise them perfectly.
  20. The FAQ on kickstarter is pretty clear about the sensor. It's the same chip as in the GH4. What's the sensor size and what's crop factor? The sensor is Panasonic MN34230 which is standard MFT sensor. So, for still capture it's 2x as all MFT camera does. For video mode, it's around 2.34x crop factor. One thing to highlight is, for 1080p60 mode, it's still of the same view angle as 4K. For 1080p modes, we can do binning to obtain better crop factor as most of DSLR does. But we choose not to do in this way as we do downscaling instead of binning. You can compare the jaggy edge of the contents from our camera and a DSLR in day light and you will find out that it's smoothy. How comes the ISO can be ridiculously 102400 for video? OK, let me give you exactly my thoughts. This kind of High ISO isn't for normal movie shooting and there are noise or artefacts. We have better noise filter which will make this camera to have better noise performance comparing to cameras which has the similar sensor size but it's not expected to be better than cameras which has much bigger sensors. But we do think that it helps sometimes for documentary or some special cases. With this kind of high ISO it will be able to make you see details of the scenario which cannot be seen by human eye. Because of the MCTF we have, if the object isn't moving fast, the noise can be greatly removed. We will post some extreme low light video for your reference.
  21. My OnePlus One (€299) does 4096x2160 @ 24 fps. Not my footage, but it can look pretty good:
  22. Looks very useful to me. How do you like the A7 II? Doesn't look very detailed - did YouTube make it a lot worse? S-Log sure looks nice.
  23. Sony A7S is more expensive than the A7R. So I expect the A7S II to be more expensive than the A7R II...
  24. C mount on top of m42? I think that way you'll only be able to do extreme macro. Get a Panasonic G7...
