SLR Anamorphot? This should work with 40mm, how it performs on the Voigtlander? No idea, only one way to find out.

Good point! Personally I'd still go for Nikon in that case, because you can also use modern glass like the Sigma 18-35mm 1.8 on the Nikon mount. But if you are planning to go Minolta all the way, that might be a perfect solution.
-
Minolta's are much cheaper in general, because they don't fit on dslr's so they are less popular than the Nikkors (that will fit on nikon and canon dslr's). I have a lot of them, picked them up for peanuts. Advantage of Nikkors is that you can use them in combination with a speed booster on a G6. So if you are thinking about getting a speedbooster Nikon would be a better choice.

Cool :) So you teamed up with either Sony or Panasonic... Curious :) I saw the Cooke lenses on your Facebook, was a bit surprised. It's probably a boatload of money. I'd like to see some comparisons, I really wonder what the actual differences are. micro-contrast, also quite a buzz word in photograhy when talking about zeiss lenses. When image editing / grading comes into play, how important and how noticeable is this? Sometimes it reminds me of those $10000 gold plated diamond hdmi cables... :) Don't mean to criticize, just very curious to see this compared to 'normal' glass.

The only difference I see is the depth of field. The Voigtlander is focussed more to the front, so the bag in front is sharper. The sigma isn't as sharp there because the area is out of focus. That doesn't have anything to do with the sharpness of the lens though. What differences do you see? Btw, I can't see the files in original format, just 1.024px × 577px, or is that what you uploaded? Try focussing on a brick wall or something, so you can see the corner sharpness. I don't know how the Voigtlander performs in this aspect, but the 18-35mm is excellent.

Yeah I noticed it's open for 'wannabees' as well, perfect! Gonna try to force myself to actually make something :P -

Cool. Do you have to be a 'pro' filmmaker or an actual filmstudent to enter? Can't find any rules about that. Looking at last years shortlist you don't really have to be a hollywood producer... The 250MB file size limit is also a bit lame for a 5 minute movie... -
Why wouldn't it be compatible?

Nice tests, thanks! I'm actually surprised of the quality of the LA7200. Most what i've seen of the Panasonic has really crappy smeary corners. Doesn't look bad at all in your video's.
-
Sounds awesome. How are the chances of it working on fullframe? I could live with both 1.5x and 1.75x when using ML raw, but I suppose 1.5x would be the most friendly aspect ratio for 16:9 camera's. Monetary value would completely depend on the quality. If it has smeary corners and crappy performance with fast apertures like the LA7200/Optex I wouldn't want to pay much for it. If it is usable at f/2 and nice and sharp in the corners at f/5.6 - f/8, then it becomes another story. Somewhere around €500 sounds nice to me for the attachement, but probably you could ask at least double for a sharp single focus solution... Most important characteristic to me would be the bokeh. Btw, the Helios has a pretty deep front element. Wouldn't it work better if the anamorphic extention protrudes down towards the front lens? Like the Iscorama and it's 50mm lenses? Especially on fullframe...

With panasonic 50i is always wrapper, from 25p sensor output. The GM1 doesn't have 50p, they say the sensor would run too hot in the small housing.
-
The biggest point is missing: the BlackMagic is a video camera, the Panasonic is a Hybrid Stills/video cam...

Nope. Unless you want to shoot 640x480.. :) Only option for 4:3 in dslrs is Magic Lantern Raw.

The PENS have two more stops of dynamic range than the GF3... It's EM-5 image quality, which is good. As good as Canon APS-C. -

Olympus has better sensors for still photography. The PEN E-PM2 and EP-L5 have the same sensor as the OM-D E-M5. You should be able to get a E-PM2 with kitlens for $350. The sensor is a lot better than the one in the cheap Panasonic camera's like the GF3/GX1 and also beats the G6 for still photography. -
Please keep it and put it to good use! It will probably hold and rise in value probably forever anyway.

Found some recently released patent drawings from Panasonic showing a GH-like camera without pop-up flash. Would make sense for a movie camera, on the other hand it would be weird if they change the design much when they show a GH3-like prototype now. That just depends on what 'your' standard is. Many (new) filmmakers never used or had anything to do with S35. If your understanding of 'fullframe' is an analogue 35mm negative, then just go with that. In short: If you want to match your GH3 with 35mm fullframe (photography negative) you should do 2x If you want to match it with Super 35 (fullframe movie standard), then the cropfactor is ~1,3x (2x : 1.5x) In other words: A 12-35mm lens on the GH3 compares to 24-70mm on a fullframe camera (like the 5D Mark III). A 12-35mm lens on the GH3 compares to ~16-47mm on a S35 camera.

Lucky f*cker... :)

On the other hand, it's good to know what we can expect. It is definately a hybrid camera, not some kind of AG-AF101 successor.
