  1. You can read it on the press images: 9,3-111,6mm f/2.8 In the specs they give the fullframe-equivalent: 29-348mm
  2. 1" sensor? That sounds like the RX10 / RX100 II chip... Image sensor 1.0-type back-illuminated Exmor Râ„¢ CMOS Sensor with approximately 14.2 effective megapixels Image processor BIONZ X Still image resolution Max. 20.0 megapixels 9,3-111,6mm f/2.8 zoom (29-348mm equivalent) Nice specs. Really don't like the handycam formfactor though. Full specs: http://presscentre.sony.eu/content/detail.aspx?ReleaseID=9344&NewsAreaId=2
  3. I love the GM1 as a technical achievement and I think it's a great camera. But I probably wouldn't want to have it as my only camera, if we're talking stills + video, because of the ergonomics. If you are climbing mountains and every gram counts, or you want to be able to store your camera in your pocket at all times, then the GM1 makes sense. Actually, I don't think it would be a bad idea to throw in the Panasonic G6 into this equation... cheaper than any of them (so definately get the speed booster with it!), ergonomics are pretty good. EVF + flipscreen. It just is a bit bigger... but if you plan on using a speed booster + nikkor lenses, you are going to carry it in a bag anyway. What's the difference if there is a GX7 or G6 in your bag...? not much. The G6 is quite a bit smaller than the EOS 60D, and half the weight: http://camerasize.com/compare/#100,455
  4. Worst advice ever Andy Lee... Never breathe onto your sensor and don't use cotton buds or micro fibre cloths or whatever... It's the most delicate part of the whole camera. A pack of sensor swabs isn't even expensive... why bother trying to DIY with household materials???
  5. Maybe you can use a forward shipping provider? They provide a US adress so you can order, and will forward the shipment to you. Google 'forward shipping usa', there are plenty providers. I don't have first hand experience with it, but from what I hear it works fine.
  6. Panasonic has image stabilisation, Olympus doesn't. Cheap 25mm f/1.4 c mount lenses will work for sure and are nice to experiment with for next to nothing.
  7. 31 inch? Nahh... http://www.engadget.com/2013/12/18/lg-105-inch-curved-uhd-tv-105UB9/
  8. There aren't many cheap native MFT lenses. I'd say go with a 14-42mm Panasonic kitlens, so you have a lens for general use with image stabilisation. And score some cheap manual primes with big aperture. The Zeiss Jena 35mm 2.4 will work fine with adapters. C-mount lenses will work too with with an adapter and are pretty much the only option if you want something wide. Check the sticky C-mount topic for options.
  9. Nice list Andrew. Couldn't agree more. It weren't the camera's that stole the show this year, it was everything happening around them. From the amazing Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 to the revolutionary Speed Booster and the best free camera upgrade, that nobody ever dared dreaming of: Magic Lantern Raw. It's hard to imagine 2014 will bring the same ammount of surprises.
  10. They don't dare to announce it outside of Japan. Which makes sense.
  11. Doesn't look anamorphic to me. If it were LA7200 or Century Optex the corners would suck. So i'd say cropped spherical.
  12. It's normal, the lens is not the problem. The resolution of the 5D Mark II is just not great, unless you shoot raw with Magic Lantern.
  13. Greg, I don't think this will change the market for isco's. To me (and many others) the 1.5x stretch is more desirable because of the more pronounced bokeh. That's still the biggest downside for me regarding this SLR Magic lens. The bokeh just isn't that special. Also I still think the flare is a bit harsh/extreme. It should send the price of Panasonic LA7200's and Optex/Century 1.33x anamorphics crashing down though.
  14. What the hell... Someone bought one last second for €864. Seems a bit overpriced to me. http://www.ebay.de/itm/221317821746?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
  15. Yeah, the 35mm f/2 IS is on my wishlist.. only thing that holds me back is that it won't be much good with anamorphics on fullframe :( Sadly no one makes a 50/60/70mm IS... Tamron 90mm VC might be good with 2x anamorphics, but I wonder if this lens is any good with anamorphics.
  16. It works on the 40mm f/2.8 pancake fullframe? That is SWEET! I just wish Canon had a 50mm IS lens..
  17. Haha, nice. I'd be surprised if they'd manage to get it funded though.
  18. I guess you mean this post. That's not an official Facebook page though.
  19. Max recording time could be related to the sensor heating up.
  20.   Nope. Maybe Canon will go for another name, although changing the number would be weird because that would implicate another product line. First camera's in a line never got a 'Mark 1' designation:   Canon EOS 5D > 5D Mark II > Mark III Canon EOS 1D > 1D Mark II > Mark III > Mark IV Canon EOS 1Ds > 1Ds Mark II > Mark III
  21. Don't get overexcited... It can't be any better than anything in the EOS Cinema line-up anyway.
  22. I haven't shot anything properly lately. Best you can head over to the MagicLantern forums for the latest builds, experiences etc. There's a huge topic on the 5D Mark II: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=5533.0
  23. Check de updated chart: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgQ2MOkAZTFHdFFIcFp1d0R5TzVPTVJXOEVyUndteGc#gid=5 Continuous 1856x1004 is possible. Works for me on a Komputerbay 64GB 1000x card.
  24. Maybe it's incorrect to asume that everybody with a 5D Mark III (wants to) shoot(s) raw...
