  1. Thanks for the test Andrew, was looking forward to seeing some raw anamorphic footage and it's sure looking good! :)

A note on the rescaling, you mention you shoot 1720x1280 (almost 4:3). Shouldn't your scale the width with 150% to 2580 px?

If I scale the dng files to 2580x1280 they look perfect. The aspect ratio in the video looks a bit off.

  2. Read the comments. This probably isn't as big as it looks like. They use some open source code, depending on the licence, it means they have to make it available again under the same licence.

Probably it's only the open source part of the code (or the modified part of it) that Samsung released. They can still keep the camera closed by not releasing their own code that isn't based on open source.

    I hope I'm wrong though :)

  3. Sorry yes... Can you take quality photos with GH3 and blow them up to poster size to print and frame with high IQ?

    Yes, you can.
There are plenty reviews on the GH3. Most of them focused on photography.
  4. Next on my list to try is anamorphic lens & 1920x1280 (3:2), that is going to be my preferred mode. From 3:2 with the Iscorama you will get roughly 2.35:1 :)

Can you please try 4:3 as well, for 2x users?

I'd be interested in the max resolution, maybe 1706x1280p but also 1440x1080p for example, to bring the data rate down a bit.

Even 1296x1080p for 2.40:1 with 2x anamorphic could be interesting.

  5. I wonder: does it work?

Most anamorphic lenses don't let you get very wide. What are the results if you put a wide angle converter in front of the anamorphic? I don't think they change the focus, or do they?

Probably not a good idea on big anamorphic lenses, but what about the smaller ones? My Iscomorphot 8/2x is pretty small, would be nice to put a 0.7x wide angle converter on it for example.

Or my tiny Petit Cinvesion 1.5x.. It vignettes with taking lenses below 40mm on the GH2. Would like to be able to go a bit wider. Not looking for extreme wide, would be happy with 28mm (0.7x 40mm).

I don't have any wide angle converters, otherwise I would give it a try.. Did someone do this before or does someone have the gear to try? Would be appreciated!
