That Panovista has a fixed F stop... at f/1.4... Weird. Would love to see some footage though :)

Thanks for your tests! I do agree that the fact if it 'works' doesn't really mean much yet. Once the BMPCC's are being delivered it would be nice to extend this topic with actual samples and more information about the quality of the optics.

Thanks for the update Richard, i'll add the info to the topic start! @Pulp Writer: good stuff to know. So the lens is fixed focus and focussed at a pretty far distance I suppose? Personally I wouldn't spend $200 for this kind of results.

@Richard: is that the same lens as this one? http://verybiglobo.blogspot.nl/2012/03/nex-7-carl-zeiss-jena-ddr-10mm-f2.html hat guy seems to put it on a C-mount to NEX adapter without modification. But maybe the M43 adapter is different?

Made a topic about this a while ago, there are more options: http://www.eoshd.com/comments/topic/1360-anamorphic-monitors-for-your-computer/ I think right now all the monitors use the same panel. Actually I have access to the Philips screen at work :) Gonna resize some of my anamorphic creations to 2560 pixels to watch them on it and I'll show some pictures. I love the concept!

Canon 5D 2K raw feed update - 1920x720 possible on 1000x card?
Julian replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
A modified battery grip could provide some space :) -
What sharpening settings do you use to get the same result in Photoshop? I got curious and tried but couldn't get nowhere near it. I think PeterK has a good point. I also overlayed the two images and they aren't exactly similar. There's a slight change in composition and brightness.

Looks like a great read! downloaded it. Thanks :)

Doesn't look bad at all, nice job!

The BMCC shoots DNxHD... I think they added that later though? Could it be something with licence costs to exclude it in the other camera's?
-
It's 'reserved'... I'll send an email anyway to check the price ;) The Bolex and the baby Isco from your previous posts are getting high prices.. in my experience Marktplaats is a bad place to score a good deal. Anamorphics rarely turn up and there are always people trying to snatch deals and selling them on for more...

Great test video! I get a bit bored with the anamorphic flares, but love these! Especially in the high contrast images with the silhouettes. Very nice. The left corner looks less softwer than the right one in some shots. How did you attach the anamorphic to your lens?

Canon 5D 2K raw feed update - 1920x720 possible on 1000x card?
Julian replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Wow, that is madness... so if you can manipulate the image size some way (you got it to 3.5K...) it might be possible to make it a bit smaller, to be easier on the buffer? I wouldn't be surprised if 1280x720 raw upsized to 1080p would look or at least on with than 1920x1080p h264 out of the camera. And you'd have all the bonus of raw data. I'd be interested in seeing 15 frames shot in half a second btw... just make some superfast cuts ;-) or twixtor them. You'd be the first to upload a Canon raw video! -
The camera is in AF-S (single autofocus, not continuous) I guesstimate the distance to the subject and set the anamorphic to the mark (the Petit Cinevision has marks from 0.9 meters to 7.5 meters and infinity), then I half press the shutter so the taking lens gets the focus right. I could try continuous autofocus, but then i'd have to refocus the anamorphic as well and the focus ring isn't very smooth sadly. For single AF it works fine and fast! Must faster than going into 10x zoom mode to fine tune the manual focus. Of course most shots have huge dof, but the close ups are really sharp and in focus as well. This Petit Cinevision rocks for close-ups :) Shame there aren't many OIS lenses for m43.. just the Panasonic zooms :( Would be nice to have a bright OIS prime for the BMPCC! Can't wait to try this anamorphic on the Pocket...

Canon 5D 2K raw feed update - 1920x720 possible on 1000x card?

Cool! So you can record a 30 frame sequence in one second? Can you post a sample clip of that? -
Cool, never seen that Kowa 1.5x before. Pricey though...
-
Thanks Seb. It vignettes on anything lower than 35mm. I zoomed a bit between 35mm and 42mm, but not during the takes.
-
Thanks Tony :) Don't have ND's that fit in this, have to find a solution for that, so I started at f/22 and f/16, last shots f/5.6 (maximum aperture of the 14-42mm). Did some tests with my Minolta 35mm 2.8 and 50mm 1.7 and it works fine at lower apertures I think. Will do a low light shoot soon!

So I've had this lil' thing for a while, but didn't really use it yet. Decided to 'mount' it into a lenscap, that I put with a step up ring onto the new (smaller) Panasonic 14-42mm OIS lens (on the GH2). No vignetting from 35mm and upwards, but I was using it because of the OIS and autofocus, so I only have to guesstimate the distance on the anamorphic. It was very windy and cold.. but this is definitely the 'fastest' way of getting an anamorphic shot with any of my lenses :) http://vimeo.com/64987255

Magic Lantern discover 2K raw DNG stream in live view on the 5D Mark III
Julian replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Wow... I wouldn't expect the 5D2 or 5D3 to be able to process 24 x 5MB / second and send it to a CF card. Time for hardware hacks... 2048 x 1428 would be great for 2x anamorphics :) -
Thanks for your tests! I've been away for a few days, will update the list later today :)

More important: you have to find a way to stretch the Polaroids 2x ;)

@mdebono: check the list. It's not true, some wide angles work, but they have to be made for big sensors. The 10.5mm-147mm is probably made for 2/3", that's not going to work on the S16 sensor for wide angle. Fujinon TV zooms that start with a 'C' are designed for 1" and could work. Here is a list: Fujinon-TV Zoom C10x16A, 1.8/16-160mm Fujinon-TV Zoom C10x16, 2.5/16-160mm Fujinon-TV Zoom C6x17.5, 1.8/17.5-105 Fujinon-TV Zoom C5x20 20-100 Fujinon-TV Zoom C14x25, 3.5/25-350mm

So I got this Iscomorphot 8/2x a while ago, didn't do much with it yet, I tried it with my minolta 58mm f/1.4 (which works fine with the Kowa B&H) and I could'nt get anything sharp out of it. Totally crap image. Today I tried with several other lenses, turns out it works fine with a simple Minolta MC 50mm f/1.7. Shot a boring clip in the park. Almost everything at f/16 since I don't have an ND on it. Shot in 720p50 and slowed down, wanted to test if I could use it handheld. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjaGbByYeR8 So, I did find a way to mount it. With my Redstan clamp that i got for the Kowa B&H 2x! Turns out with some creativity I can mount several anamorphics with it. I just use old UV filters (remove the glass) to extend the clamp. Here you see the Kowa B&H, Proskar 2x, and the Iscomorphot. Note that the back elements sticks out a lot, I have to add more filters in between. But it is actually nice to be able to let it stick out a bit, so I can bring it as close as the glass as possible!

Good idea (and strange nobody did it before). Not the perfect solution if you work with different lens mounts and adapters and the Speed Booster for example. You'll still need conventional nd filters. For me that's the reason I'm skipping this one. If you (mainly) use one adapter and don't care for the speed booster, then this looks like a great solution.
