It looks a bit like the baby Hypergonar design wise. It's funny, apparently there exists technology on this world which you cannot find on the internet ;) Where do you get step down rings with 'big steps'? I'm not sure what the thread sizes are. The Bolex adapter is just a bit smaller than a C-mount thread. Seems to be around 23mm. I'd like to mount it as close as possible to the lens. But finding a 55mm to ~23mm step down filter is a bit difficult :) A step down filter that would bring the anamorphic even closer to the lens element would be perfect..

Thanks, I'm loving it! Works well wide open, no diopters needed, crazy small.. I wonder how the corners look at f/4-f/8, I have the impression it's not bad at all. On my Minolta 28mm it gives a bit of vignetting, 35mm is fine. I wonder how it would work on a Sigma 30mm f/1.4. Do you have any idea what lens it is? I have the feeling this little thing is worth it's weight (ok.. it's not much ;)) in gold!

Straight out of the box test shots. Enjoy my dying plant. Hand held in front of a 25mm f/1.2 cctv lens and a Jupiter-8 50mm f/2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7PZxbWP0Ds

There it is, the 'Petit-Cinevision'. If I google this, the only hit I get is the eBay auction where I bought it... Could it be something like Angenieux? It also says 'made in Japan' on the side. For good measurements, the Petit-Cinevision next to a bag of Haribo Goldbären. Everybody knows them right? The Goldbären where supplied by the seller, which is good, so my girlfriend didn't go crazy I bought 'another stupid lens'. She ate them before I could take the picture. The front. The glass looks really clean, in very good condition. The focus ring isn't smooth at all, its bumpy and lacking damping. But the lens elements seem to move fine. Also, it focuses from 0,9 meters to infinity, which is awesome. My baby and the Jupiter 8 50mm f/2. The Petit-Cinevision already came with a Bolex-clamp included, I'll need some crazy step down filters though. It looks like it's made for the Jupiter though.

I just got it in. When I picked up the box I thought the seller sent me a box with air... It is CRAZY small and light. Uploading pics and crappy test shots, already looking good. I'm the happiest man on EOSHD right now.

Just search for EOS M43 and you'll find plenty adapters. Like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Canon-EOS-EF-EF-S-to-Micro-4-3-M4-3-M43-Mount-Adapter-EP3-GF3-GX1-EP3-OM-D-EFM43-/330821484699?pt=US_Lens_Adapters_Mounts_Tubes&hash=item4d067f409b

Can you post some footage? If you don't have a problem with your 7D the suspect is the adapter. Try a cheap dumb adapter.

@rich: I knew someone from here must be bidding on it.. hehe. @Tony: thanks for your reply, I'll have to wait until it arrives I guess, hope it turns out to be good! According to the seller it's mechanically and optically in 'flawless' condition. Hope he's right about that (or he gets his ass kicked in an eBay dispute). It is a gamble indeed, but finding any small 1.5x anamorphic seems kinda impossible, unless you want to pay big money for a Bolex or you get extremely lucky.

Just remembered the Shiga Scope that popped up here a lil while ago. It kinda looks alike! http://www.eoshd.com/comments/topic/1505-the-shiga-scope-anamorphic-x15/

The Anamorphic buying frenzy hit me again :) I know it's not the smartest thing to buy something when you're not exactly aware of what it is.. But I couldn't let this one pass. I have a big ISCO Optic Ultrastar 1.7x, very sharp, but big... I also have a reasonable sized Kowa B&H 2x, but still I'd like something smaller and I'd prefer a 1.5x anamorphic. I've been looking for the lovely Bolex 8/19/1.5X but the prices are sky high. So I spotted this little boy on eBay and I just won the auction. It's sold as 'Anamorphot Optic 8mm for Bolex H16' in flawless condition. It definitely looks small, and it's 1.5x. Anybody recognises this lens? [attachment=411:Untitled.png]

Anamorphic with 2.21:1 with 1920x868 resolution?
Julian replied to Emin Henri Mahrt's topic in Cameras
Try different focus distances. From the footage you're showing here the 2:21:1 aspect looks correct. That would make it 1,25x instead of 1,33x. -
With my cheap ebay adapters, GH2 and Minolta MD glass I can focus beyond infinity... If I turn the lens all the way to infinity it's unsharp, but just before the sharpness is fine. Is it the same with your adapters or can't you get anything sharp at long distances at all?

Anamorphic with 2.21:1 with 1920x868 resolution?

Which lens is it? -
Wow.. easy on the contrast. It looks like it has 2 stops of dynamic range now. Everything is completely blown out and crushed.

Electronics are also needed for IS support and to change the aperture on EF lenses. I would like them to make a 'dumb' EOS adapter as well (it would work perfect with Samyang for example). In fact they all ready make and sell 'dumb' adapters: there is a $399 Leica-R to NEX Speed Booster for example.

For 2-megapixel (1080p) you don't need L-glass for the best quality. Samyang is pretty good. Cheap because it lacks AF, but the glass is very good.

25mm is going to give you a 'tunnel view' if you use the whole 3,55:1 aspect ratio. Not sure how much of the image you would still be able to use without vignetting. I'll give it a try with my 28mm. I shot this on a GH2 with Minolta 35mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.7 and 100mm f/2.5 and the Kowa B&H. The GH2 has actually a bit wider sensor than the GH3 and 35mm almost works without vignetting. http://vimeo.com/53787515 Most of the beginning is shot with the 35mm, so is the end. Around 1:47 you can see some of the corners of the lens, because of the sun light reflecting inside the anamorphic.

What are you looking for? Wide, normal, tele? Bright? Sharp? I'd say, experiment! You can put almost anything on the GH3 with adapters. Buy some lenses on eBay for cheap, see what is the widest focal length possible (i'd say some 35mm's will work). Keep the ones you like, loose the ones you don't.. The Helios will do fine. Personally I'd want to have something wider as well. 40mm Hexar f/1.8 is popular and small. You could also try a brighter 50/58mm. I like my Minolta 58mm f/1.4 on my Kowa.

Crazy.. look at the biddings: US $10,600.00 Jan-27-13 12:31:19 PST US $10,500.00 Jan-29-13 08:45:33 PST US $4,555.55 Jan-29-13 08:45:30 PST US $3,650.00 Jan-29-13 05:01:11 PST Would somebody bid so much to actually use it? Or will it end up in a collection somewhere..

Get your clamp here: http://redstan.com/ (from the UK). Not so expensive diopters... try eBay.

Not that I doubt your figures, but what is your source? It be nice to see the measurements/comparisons.

For photography I wouldn't want to miss autofocus. It depends on your filming style. But I'd prefer working with a monopod/tripod/dolly/slider/steady-cam, like you say. You're probably using more then one lens, so either they have to be all OSS or you use some other kind of stabilisation. Also hand held 35mm should be okay. Not for static shots during a ceremony... but during the party a bit of shake isn't the end of the world.

I'd only consider the Sony if you plan to do a lot of photography as well.
