I asked anamorphic-shop the same question on facebook - he said yes, but because the FM attachment is designed for a 70.6mm diameter (like the cinelux / ultra stars) and the B&H is smaller, it would need an additional mounting ring.

He said he would post a video of the additional mounting ring soon, so I guess we'll see what that means

@JohnBarlow I think you seriously need to rethink your stance on these forums.  If you are just here to push your product and then censor other products that you think are "competing" with yours, then you are mistaken.  You should step down as moderator if you are going to be biased about this.

    John,

I don't appreciate content from our private offline conversations being referenced here, and I feel the need to state that I am in no way affiliated with John's Rectilux. We were merely comparing exploratory notes.

Respectfully, I suggest that the moderation of this forum be handled by a neutral party who has no commercial aspirations.

fantastic design by the looks of it.  interested to see how the long shroud might be removed/changed? for fitment to other anamorphics.  Lovely large optic to accommodate the focus throw required for the 0.5m minimum focus (without vignette I imagine).  front thread is spaced out from the optic to clearance and further reduced chance of vignette at full focus extension.    looks like something designed very nicely from the ground up with a real bit of mechanical design rather than an ebay helicoid, a plumbing fitting and a pair of tiny off the shelf singlets.  bet the price is reasonable too...

Rob, LG has an upcoming 31" 4096x2160 display, LG Electronics 31MU97-B, 31":

    http://geizhals.eu/lg-electronics-31mu97-b-a1162783.html

Preorder pricing is from 1300 euro.

    Resolution: 4096x2160, 4K+60Hz
    Luminance: 320cd/m²
    Contrast: 1000:1 (static), 5000000:1 (dynamic)
    Response time: 5ms (Manufacturer measurement...)
    Viewing angle: 178°/178°
    Panel type: AH-IPS
    Backlight: GB-r-LED-Backlight
Color gamut: Wide Color Gamut (99% Adobe RGB, 100% sRGB)
    Hardware calibration.

At that resolution there aren't so far any other options, and this one was just recently announced. Maybe someone else will make displays with 4096x2160 resolution soon enough once that one is out, but 3840x2160 will for sure become the commonly available resolution for highres displays.

You are making this up. The D750 was announced on sept 12, images and final specs of the camera leaked out only a few days before. If it was out for a month already it would be all over the internet.

Unless you are talking about people who have signed NDA's and receiving pre production cameras before the announcement for initial testing. But that list isn't very long and as far as I know dpreview, Imaging Resource and the likes aren't porn producers.

Sigma's new strategy (started in 2012), aiming at high end quality for competitive prices, has worked out really well. According to Sigma the market for interchangeable lenses shrunk by something like 23% last year but Sigma managed to sell 15% more.

I was just pointing out your that giving 4.5 stars for image quality because you got excited with monitor's resolution is big mistake. Value for money you're talking about here is another thing and your rating for it is correct. Time to get things straight?

I agree, but TN really is a dealbreaker imo.

The Dell screen you really have to use with dpi scaling. Works fine on Mac OS. Not very good on Windows. For viewing 4K content it'll be still great though.

The 4K options are still a bit limited right now. Personally I'm interested in 21:9. The LG 34UM95 is a great screen (34" @ 3440x1440, IPS, around €900,-), Ive used it for a while.

You might think 34" is huge and you end up with a low pixel pitch, but that's not really the case. Can't compare it to 16:9 monitors. In height the screen is not even as big as a 27", it's just wide! Which is absolutely great to work with....

As much as I agree with all of your points, asking these questions is simply useless. You're questions are not really questions, but you are just trying to make the same point with every question:

"Look how far behind you are when it comes to video & technical advances compared to your competitors". Don't you see it?"

It is rhetorical. Of course they know. They don't care. And you don't need to ask, you can see it from their current line up and releases. They are focussing on the photo market and gave up to compete on video.

The only question you should ask is: "Why?"

To make more money for a couple of years and then stop the business? A principal? Thinking they will appeal more to photographers if they don't have good video modes? To protect their C-line? (and thus be stupid?)

For the rest I would save my breath. You're not going to change them. But we as buyers will.

Beter body, better AF, fraster framerates. Thats not marketing bullshit, but very welcomed by photographers. I agree that it probably won't be appealing for the video crowd, but that doesn't mean it's just 'bullshit'. I think this actually will be a nice balanced camera (speed - resolution) for photography. It should do 8 fps though (even if only with a grip), if it sticks to 6.5 fps like the D610 that'd be a shame.

The Df, that is a D610 with extra marketing bullshit applied.

Yep, it's responsive so layout changes depending on screen size. On mobile it should be like using an iPhone app. No need to zoom in on a large webpage. Just the headlines and images to scroll through and large text.

Very smart. It's the same concept as Instagram hyperlapse indeed. It shouldn't be expensive at all, the hardware is really cheap. The only downside over a gimbal is framing of course. You're going to have to shoot a bit wider than intended and crop afterwards. For 4K to 1080p this could be really cool.

I'm not interested in the current stabilizers because of the price (and the bulk) But this little box could be a really cool addition for handheld action shots. I wonder how it will work in more 'normal' shots, like a substitute for in lens IS. Love the small for factor. Very stealthy!
