January 20th is nothing! Rather than the projected mid February I've been hearing. Hopefully it all works out. I have some projects coming up that I'd love to shoot with it.
-
I won't be able to get my funds back from my B&H order through PayPal in time =/ Stuck waiting longer.

Any anamorphic shooters in the San Francisco Bay Area? I've been itching to shoot something anamorphic but it's out of my budget right now. Does anyone have a rig? I'd gladly pay to rent it. Just curious who's shooting anamorphic out here. Thanks!

The A dial is Aperture Priority, which allows you control of your aperture but shutter speed and ISO shift (if you want the ISO to shift). Also, since there's not electronic communication from your lens to the camera, it might be trying to compensate for the image it sees since it's not getting any data from your lens. What are your settings?

Yeah my bad on that one =P Classic mistake. 4K is looking great though.
-
Ahh. Yeah I wasn't using that card. Whoops! Thanks for that!

Got a chance to play around with this cam yesterday. 4K only goes for about 30 seconds before automatically stopping due to overheating issues. I knew about the overheat meter, but didn't know that the time it took to start overheating was so short.

Your work looks amazing! Very jealous of that anamorphic lens you have.

Pre-ordered mine from B&H about 2 weeks before the initial shipping batch (mid November). Still waiting. They've been out for quite some time. I just want my hands on this damn camera haha. The company I work for has a few of them so every chance I get I've been shooting with it. I love it.

Do you mean the regular Zacuto Z-Finder? I guess I'm thinking of the Zacuto EVF Pro. The 6D has a 3" screen so I would assume any accessories that fit 3" screens would work.
-
It has HDMI, so you should be good for that. Still not uncompressed, however.

E-M5 has better stills, GH3 has better video. At least that's what consensus is.
-
AF is quick with both cameras. As far as video is concerned, I don't really use autofocus so that doesn't factor in for me. For just a run and gun camera between those 3, I'd pick GH3 since it's layout is a lot more suited for on the fly scenarios as opposed to the GH2, at least in my eyes. Love both though.

Just found out im traveling: anamorphic rig for sale / trade!!
Mondo replied to chetacallahan's topic in Cameras
Also curious to see if this setup is still for sale? I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. -
The LCD on the GH2 doesn't give you an accurate representation of what you'll be getting out of the camera. The gamma shift is an issue. The EVF doesn't have gamma issues, at least from what I've noticed, so it's more accurate for white balancing etc. I use my LCD, but mainly to focus after I adjust everything with the EVF.
-
The built in EVF doesn't work for you? I shoot outside all the time and it helps me quite a lot.

You can get a GH2 for $500 at B&H right now and pick up some Canon FD lenses for a few hundred, which would be well under your $1,000 limit. There are other cheap options as well! It's great that you can mount anything to M43. Just see which lenses you like best. I started with a Canon FD 28mm f2.8 and 50mm f1.4. Great lenses and cheap as well. There really isn't a better deal right now.

I've played in bands where this has happened haha. Couldn't agree more.

You'd probably want something with IS if run and gun is what you're looking into, especially with those focal lengths you're suggesting. Those Panasonic zooms are looking like your best option, but well above your price point.

Curious to know what picture settings are capturing your eye most right now?

My (production model) GH3 test footage 'Stained Glass, Bare Wood'
Mondo replied to mikeritchie's topic in Cameras
Looks great! The footage has some unique characteristics to it. Can't wait to get mine in a few weeks! -
Check this article out. very helpful Or you could import with 5DtoRGB. Info on that program below as well. http://www.eoshd.com/content/8612/mac-avchd-gamma-issues-the-fix http://www.eoshd.com/content/8076/how-mac-osx-still-screws-your-gh2-fs100-nex-footage-a-must-read
Variable neutral density filter?
I use those all the time, but changing the filter for each lens is a small annoyance, and I'm not made of money so I can't put a variable ND on every lens I own haha.
