To say no, it is not better, without at least a simple green screen test seems unfair. I can't see why people were expecting a drastic difference

Magic Lantern discover 2K raw DNG stream in live view on the 5D Mark III
Zach replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
"Why the hell is this feature not implemented if the cameras are capable of it??" Quite a valid question. I can not wait to see where this goes Heck, I'd be happy with just a 1080p Raw stream. Or 2K 8 bit -

Neumann films is posting that Magic Lantern has hacked the 5d - 14bit RAW cinema DNG. holy poop. need more details https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=468825709854869&set=a.132750566795720.23918.132492190154891&type=1&theater -
Definitely. Not by leaps and bounds, but a noticeable bit. I shot with the t2i for years, and recently had chance to shoot a short film on the GH3. Noise performance at 800 and 1600 ISO is better.

wow. Amazing detail and color reproduction. I've been saving up for something beyond a DSLR, either the FS100 or 700, but everytime I see black magic footage I am inclined to change my mind

agreed, as long as its constructive and helpful! I think he is mostly referring to people who are just jerks. comments like "you suck" "quit now" etc.

I have a background in music performance and education, and this has been going around social media sites between my music friends. However I can't help but think it is also incredibly relevant to those of us in the video/film realm. Just some food for thought. I hope its encouraging http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oa5JsiMe6Qc

This looks a little gimmicky to me. Guess I'll have to wait and hear it before I pass judgement. The addition of knobs over buttons for level adjustments is welcome
-
is there any reason in particular you want the black magic? Something like the GH2 or GH3 would acheive the look with much greater ease
-
No, the 8mm lenses don't have hardly any depth of field to begin with. When you stick it on the blackmagic, it is just using the center part of the lens, so even less so.
-
Length wise it'd be about a 24, but there would probably be a little bit more distortion. And not as shallow depth of field
-
You would need to go lower. I feel like the Tokina 11-16 (canon mount) and the Metabones m43 speedbooster (like he said ^ doesn't exist yet but will soon) would probably give you a similar look.
-
As far as im concerned, The digital bolex folks have no room to talk until they actually release a camera.
-
It is also a different sensor, just with a similar image.
-
I'm really stoked to stick a 100mm macro on this thing. With the crop factor, DOF will be a little more manageable and it will of course be closer!
-
I am confused. He is saying it doesn't record RAW. But the website says RAW

So with the announcement of the Black Magic Pocket cam, it seems inevitable that C mount lenses are going to be come very desirable. I'm not too familiar with them. Anyone know of any good resources for learning whats out there, or good places to buy? ebay? Favorite C mount lenses?

Tech specs from the website http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/blackmagicpocketcinemacamera/techspecs 24, 25, 30p. Focus Peaking. Headphone and mic jack, removable batteries. I am sold
-
so, should I just sell my 5d now? That pocket cam looks amazing specs wise
-
Yeah, at the price I dont have a lot of faith that this sounds any better than anything thats on the market already. Form and functionality wise though this product is brilliant. They will probably sell a ton of these
