Its terrible. There aren't any worthwhile deals (on electronics) in India, throughout the year. And, high end cameras cost anything from 1.5 times to twice their US prices. Its INSANE.
Thats a bummer! You could always make a friend in the USA and have them buy it for you and then pay them.

I have done a lot of work with a t2i and an RX100. There is work involved when matching, but its not impossible. I actually just shot my first wedding tonight with the combo (backing up files as we speak!) I'll send you some footage when I'm done with an edit, that will probably help you more than anything
-
I would be happy with 24p in my RX100....lol

Panasonic GH3 real-world test (pre-production firmware)
Zach replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I still am not sure about the skin tones. I'd love to see a lit and unlit interview shot with it. Otherwise, I'm pretty sold. For the price of a GH3 and 1 or 2 lenses I'll be at the same price as a 6D or 5D with 1 or 0 lenses. Can't wait to see more footage -
Do people actually fall for this junk? What a shame that these people exist
Motion blur depends on your shutter angle. Check that it is the same.
The sony RX100, a $600 pocket camera, does not have a "shutter angle." I understand what you're saying but your comment will probably be lost on others with this camera. My advice is to try a few different/unconventional speeds. Try something lower than 1/50 and in between 1/50 and 1/100 - rules are meant to be broken. I've noticed that I can get just about every aspect of the RX100 to match my other cameras except motion. It just seems to handle it differently.

The moire/aliasing on this camera is really the biggest bummer for me. It looks really bad. Still love the full frame look and the form of a DSLR. The A99 looks so solid and rugged, and the new audio jacks for the Sonys look like a great solution (though maybe not for $800.) I agree with andrews points on the camera. The video you posted does look quite incredible.

Adventures with the 5D Mark III and Canon 135mm F2L in Croatia
So you really love the images, yet you really hate the camera that created those images? Bizarre.
I enjoyed this post -
Canon have responded they put their prices up on 1 November on their whole DSLR range!!
I have a feeling a $300 price drop on the 5D3 isnt going to do much to deter sales of a Red one!

It would be very nice to see Canon respond appropriately!
And it'd be great if we could start shooting future proof content!
This particular line kind of mind me chuckle a bit. I do understand the sentiment and the angle you're after I think. But nobody will want to watch a really polished turd in the future :)

I'm going to call BS...yes maybe for the big screen or big budget films.

I'll have a full review of this coming within the next week or two! I think matching it with the 550D is pretty doable, in many circumstances. I brought both with me on a trip to Phoneix for a corporate gig. Used the RX100 for wide shots and the t2i for close up/interview stuff. Funny, I have never sold any photographs, but within a week I had posted a picture of a sunset taken with the RX100, and a former professor of mine told me he wanted to buy it! This suckers done paid for itself already Heres a quick video I (hastily) shot and edited last week. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4M61FiBslKA

In general, you won't want to be changing the focus while its on a steadycam. That means you'll probably need to use a smaller aperture so that you have less trouble getting whatever it is youre filming in focus. If you're just filming one moving subject, staying the same distance from that subject will keep it in focus, rather than moving around and changing focus. When you aren't on the steadycam, a tripod is a helpful tool to combat this :)
rolling shutter - the evil artifact of all sensors!
Boo. I wasn't sure if thats what it was! Thanks man

I've noticed in a lot of Rx100 shots specifically (though it appears from other cameras as well) that when the camera pans on shots with lots of fine details, the image gets all buggy. You can see it right off the bat in this video https://vimeo.com/52104352 anyone know what causes this? Does it have to do with the low bit rate? Shutter speed? etc?

I suppose I thought the tone of this thread would be more positive
