"Who said either one beats the other in video?" Just to clarify: Well many, many people say "buy the Sii for video and the Rii for stills". That's a pretty common thing. And then the Rii records 4K in crop mode, while the Sii records 1080 in crop mode. (Remember I'm only interested in crop mode in this instance). So that's where my confusion lies because 4K would imply the Rii is "better" than the 1080 Sii. And by "better" I suppose I mean, sharper, cleaner, richer image etc.

I'm considering either of these cameras for video. I will mostly use crop mode at "normal" ISOs under 12,000. Given crop mode only, and no low light needs am I better off with the A7Rii shooting 4K or does the A7Sii still beat the Rii in video even though it only captures 1080 in crop mode. Thanks and sorry of this question has been beaten to death, but I'm not finding an answer ;o)

There are a few of these now, the Focus Module, the SLR Magic Rangefinder and I own a Rectilux which I use with a Bolex Moller. It's surprisingly good, though I do lose a few feet of close focus, I like it. http://rectilux.com/ has a lot of answers

I was watching this. I thought the photos of the broken parts were very poor which made me suspicious.

I recently had a dramatic situation at my house where I had to grab the things that were most valuable to me. I grabbed a few hard drives and my Bolex Moller 8/19/1.5 ;o) It pairs really well with my 50 Karl Zeiss Jena 1.8 as well as some old Nikon AI-S lenses. My brand new Rectilux is being tinkered with right now and I'm getting some good sharpness with this three lens combo. (See still). Although I've lost my close focus but I'll take that loss now that I can focus quickly.

Thanks, very helpful. I didn't consider the speed booster w BMC, that could be a great option as well as the A7s. From what I can tell ML maxes out at 1728x972 on the 7D, not too bad.

I've found a really nice lens combo that works well for me: Voightlander 40mm 2.0Bolex 8/19/1.5On a: Canon 7D (APS-C) To get the most out of this lens combo what other cameras can I use? Are there any raw 23.98 1920x1080 or higher options out there for me? What other cameras have the same or similar sensor size to the 7d? Or are there larger sensor cameras that offer a "zoom in" or crop mode, so I can keep this lens combo with the same wide field of view? My guess: 5D2, non raw. Something like a 24-70 L lens, no anamorphic.

That's a bummer. I love mine and think it's the best $1000 camera out there.

I shot this Pro Res before the RAW came out, which I still haven't used cos my cards aren't fast enough. I have the demo of FilmConvert in Resolve. Pretty nice to use, may buy it. No LUTs yet.

I use the Bolex 8/19/1.5 and the Iscorama Iscomorphot. For a taking lens, the widest I've been able to go is with a 28mm lens, and I think it will wrk on 24mm but I haven't tried. A few things to consider: you can't see the undistorted image using the BMPC, you need another monitor to do that and post is the same as anything else except you need to obviously squeeze the image down to whatever aspect ratio is right for your lens. As my lenses are 1.5x, I squeeze the horizontal axis to 0.667. Good luck! And buy the Anamorphic Guide above, it has a ton of good info in it.

Actually, no. This is with the Bolex. The Iscomorphot is great, by the way, here are some video stills I shot with it - http://imgur.com/a/WBA8g It's interesting, since buying the Blackmagic, I've been able to use wider lenses of course and I got a Nikon AIS 28mm which is SUPER sharp and I love it, plus it works really, really well with the Bolex. I bought the isco because I was sick of double focussing BUT since getting the Nikon, I almost don't have to double focus with it anymore because it's so good. I can actually rack focus. Somehow double focussing is not a big deal like it was before (with any other 50mm lens (Helios, Canon etc.) that I used on the Canon body). The other thing is that when I put the isco on the Nikon 28mm, it doesn't work exactly at infinity. I have to still double focus (a little) and bring it back from infinity a bit. AND then I can't take advantage of the Nikon's brilliant sharpness because I obviously can't move it beyond close to infinity. Hope that makes sense. By the way, the Canon 40mm Pancake is really good with the isco too, I've noticed. So, I want to find a great wide lens for the isco thats super sharp at infinity but, um, I'm broke now after all this ;o) haha.

FWIW I think it's pretty decent when stopped down to about F5.6 - 8. I have taken some nice sharp stills with it; I think a lot has to do with how sharp the taking lens is at infinity. Using my Helios i have to set it at a little before infinity to work at its best. Still tinkering around with it.

Ben - great looking stills. Thanks for the feedback. Its certainly a great looking lens and I've been craving a single focus system after a shoot with my Bolex Moller (which I love). I don't know if the sacrifice is worth it. Wish I could try one out too, but maan, this community is tiny.

A lot of the video I've seen shot with this lens looks soft. I don't know if this is user error or if this lens is generally soft.   What's its reputation? How does it compare to the Iscorama 36 and 54? And the Bolex Moller?   Thanks
