So this will do with my gh2 if I get the pentax 25mm ? http://www.ebay.com/itm/C-Mount-Lens-to-Micro-4-3-m4-3-mount-Adapter-GF1-EP-1-/120559314682 Is there a better mount someone can recommend? And anyone else have anything good/bad to say about the pentax 25mm on the gh2?
-
I think I am going to purchase this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pentax-C22525KP-25mm-F1-4-22-C-Mount-Lens-W-Locking-Screw-/270878274340?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item3f119a7324 I saw this video http://vimeo.com/29814909 And it really made me want to get the pentax 25mm 1.4.... I like that bokeh swirl... But can someone help me find an adapter for my gh2? I see c mount to micro 4/3 adapters all over but not the other way around. I need a 4/3 to c mount, right? Thanks guys.

I have been fooling around but it seems like the ISO is the only thing that makes it brighter
-
Ok thanks guys but I think you are misunderstanding me... @gravitatemediagroup I have been using my camera everyday shooting things and trying new exposures, only using manual mode so you don't get it... I use manual exposure under FILM MODE when I am in the VIDEO dial, (I don't record video under the M or A dials, I meant A or M under exposure under film mode)... And when I start recording the exposure does not change so I know its not a pre-shot thing. Its basically I have my 24mm in a pretty well lighted room and the video is pretty dark with my aperture all the way open and my shutter speed at 50, but once I adjust the ISO I can see better... The thing is I don't want to over use the ISO, so I try to mimick the settings under A exposure mode (when in film dial) because it looks so much better, but I can't get it to look like that manually is my point.
-
I purchased that book and set up my gh2 exactly how he had described but thats not the problem. Even under film mode with the exposure set to A its way more clear and bright than compared to the M mode. So I know it means my setting in manual mode aren't right but I checked them and they looked the same as the A settings... It seems raising the ISO makes it brighter but under the A settings it says ISO is at a low 160... I figured if I could get the settings in manual mode to be exactly as they are in aperture priority, then I would know what would be causing the darkness.. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
-
I have my aperture on my 24mm set to 2.8 and my shutter speed at 50. I usually like to keep my ISO down around 160 but its too dark with out (even though its light in the room) so I raised it to 500 and its fine.
-
So I am still getting the hang of my gh2 and I have been fooling around with the settings a bunch. I know its better to use a camera in the MANUAL exposure mode but when I use it in AUTOMATIC it looks so much better. I can't figure it out. I have my gh2 on a tripod with a 24mm canon fd f2.8. I point at the wall and switch between the A dial and the M dial and when its on the A dial it has way more light and looks much better compared to the M dial... And I compared the two settings of each dial but they are pretty much the same- same ISO, same aperture, same shutter speed.... What could cause this drastic difference? Thanks.

best way to deal with sunlight with the gh2?
craigbuckley replied to craigbuckley's topic in Cameras
Well I am thinking that it would be better to get something to cover the EVF instead. As said above, the LCD isn't great for representation. I need exactly what Axel has. You should sell those Axel. Any idea where to get something like that (blocks the sun so you can use your EVF) online ? -
is there a reason I shouldn't buy the slr magic 12mm lens for my gh2?

Canon fd 24mm or the sigma fd 24mm ? Big difference? -

thanks a ton guys. I am going to go with the SLR... I have 2 other questions I was wondering if anyone could help with: 1. I'm going to get a "standard" lens as well and I think I am going to get the canon FD 24mm or the canon FD 28mm (I am going with the canon FD's because I already have that adapter for the gh2) - are these decent lenses? Of the two, which would be better? (should i just spend more and get that C mount pentax cosmicar 25mm?) 2. And my second is kind of unrelated but I still can't find an answer. Can someone recommend a good viewfinder for the gh2 that will help block the sun? I use the EVF thats built in but I can't see what I am shooting when its really sunny out so I need SOMETHING to help me shoot outside and see what I'm shooting. -
I saved up enough money and currently selling my 20 millimeter Panasonic lens so I am going to buy the SLR magic lens (wide angle). is there any reason I shouldn't get this lens ? I need a good wide angle lens for my GH 2 ... And my other question , if I do own the slr magic 12 mm and also the Canon FD 50 millimeter , what are some other focal lengths that I should get to have a good collection of lenses for a film shoot . 12mm , 50mm, what other lengths would be good to have with the collection? Thanks so much.

thanks powder banks! I will try that.. Can anyone recommend a good viewfinder for the gh2? I can't find one that people agree that it ACTUALLY fits for the gh2 (so many people argue saying some fit and some don't), and is good about blocking out the sun. Thanks! -

still no help. I think a viewfinder would be useful like this one, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004RG4IIS/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?tag=5336062087-20 but not sure if that fits and if it will help. -
I have the gh2 and I film outside a lot but the sun gets in my eyes so I can't use the built in viewfinder... what is my best option? an external viewfinder? Can someone recommend one under $50 or if its even necessary? I really can't see what I am shooting with the sun outside...

thank you everyone!! I got all that.. unfortunately, when you use the crop zoom function with the gh2, it knocks down the quality of the shot. 4x is even more blury. But I have a decent set of prime lenses so I just figured I would need some zoom lenses because I was planning on shooting some documentaries. I could use the prime for interviews but if I wanted to be out shooting an event, I need to zoom in and out a distance... I think the canon fd 35-105 is the winner unless there is a better selection in that price range ($100) and I already have an FD mount..
-
I need a lens for run and gun stuff though. Being able to zoom is pretty important and not having to switch lenses... If you had to stay in my range, would those canon fd's be pretty bad? Not even worth buying for $50?
-
I am looking into shooting a documentary, and I have been reading that my prime lenses won't be as useful as a nice zoom lens. Makes sense.... I don't want to spend TOO much on a zoom lens, preferably around 100 dollars for a used older one, but not sure which one to get. I like the canon fd so I think I may stick with their style. For under $100 on ebay, there is the canon fd 35-70mm for $50, OR the 35-105mm for $100, and there is also a vivitar on there for around $50.. Any recommendationss?

thanks? I thought thats what forums are for? Questions? But I understand its annoying asking basic questions, which I have stopped. I have read all the advice you guys give, I even bought and read the eos gh2 book from here. I have searched forums and I am just asking questions. If everyone responded like the way you do then I would question myself, but I have had several NICE people inbox me and tell me to talk to them directly because others are inconsiderate and miss the whole point of what a forum is. I can count over 5 people on this website alone who have told me not to worry about asking questions and people getting frustrated, they are just immature and don't want to help. Sorry for the basic questions but I learn better directly from a person rather than blindy searching. -

Copy to my hard drive? When I open final cut there's an option to import from camera an usually do this but now I'm skeptical. Is there a better way? -

Galen B, Your the friggin man! That programmed seemed to work!! It seems like it split that long 45 minute up into different files, which is ok! This is awesome. Thank you so much! I am going to go run around for a while! Ok that was great. Your the best. Thanks to you all on this website... So in the future, to prevent this from happening... I should format my SD card and import through final cut? or is there a better way? -

craigbuckley replied to craigbuckley's topic in Cameras
ok I couldnt find "optimized media" under final cut events, the thing is I never saved it or imported it to final cut. I started to import that file but my camera got low battery so I cancelled, ejected my camera and charged the battery. Next time i turned my camera on all the files were gone... It said no valid pictures to display... I did playback the footage on my camera though and watched it, and also on my computer but never saved it or imported it... My only hope is the .mts files that I found that have the audio from the show , but it won't play the video. I have tried so many different converters but nothing is working. Has anyone ever experienced this? -

I know im not being clear enough and its a very confusing situation... let me start over please... So i filmed a show last night. I recorded the whole set (45 minutes) in one shot, and then I had some other bullshit shots that were extra... When I got home I plugged in my camera through usb (i know- dumb) and imported the shorter files into final cut and left the long shot on my camera because my battery was low and I wanted to charge it so my camera wouldn't die while transfering files... I unplugged safely and charged my battery, then tried to import again and nothing. I unplugged my camera and looked on my camera but it says no valid pictures to display... I put my sd card in the mac directly and still nothing. No .mov files like usual but I did find about 10-15 clips of .mts files... I converted these files to a few different formats with a few different converters and it ended up only being the audio and a still image, no video.. I don't know what to do but I could use two things out you guys, and I really appreciate your help. 1. Is there anyway I can recover these files? I know its confusing but I am going to try the geek squad. 2. What should I do in the future to import files into final cut?... (Final cut pro x freezes a lot so maybe importing through that isnt safe?) -
Please please please help, need help so bad.
craigbuckley replied to craigbuckley's topic in Cameras
This is the worst.. is there an sd recovery program that someone can recommend? I am willing to pay money. (EDIT): So I converted the files to mov with a converter program but they only play the audio, the video image is just a still... has anyone ever experienced this before?
