Does this sound right? I purchased an SanDisk extreme pro 16gb SDHC memory card, and it says on my camera there is only 9 minutes of video remaining.. Does this sound right? If so I need a way bigger memory card..

Is there a way to zoom with 20mm pancake for gh2?
craigbuckley replied to craigbuckley's topic in Cameras
thank you for your reply! So is the 20mm good for shooting video? The lens is so small- it is hard to manual focus, especially mid shot, so maybe I need a better lens for video. I just ordered the canon fd 50mm, will this zoom? DO I need a zoom lens for video? -
Hey so I just got my gh2 with my 20mm pancake. Works great. Still trying to figure it out. I have two questions though, 1.How do you zoom in? or can you zoom in? 2. Anyone suggest a good youtube video or link to read to learn about using a gh2 and cameras like it/such.. maybe I should read the manual?

radioactive coating? Does this one have it? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Canon-FD-50mm-F-1-4-Fast-Standard-Prime-Lens-Excellent-Condition-/170916113880?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item27cb64edd8 and is this a good price for used?

If I purchase this adapter, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003EAVUMK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_5?ie=UTF8&smid=AG1FKBNAQKSKJ Can I use a canon FD 50mm on this? What about a rokkor minolta 50mm? Is there one universal adapter, or do you buy adapter with each lens?
-
ok ok thanks again everybody... In choosing an adapter, does this matter on the lens? Say I am purchasing one of those canon fd 50mm 1.4 lens, is the fotodiox going to work with that or do I need a specfic adapter?

Ok so I am getting the Gh2 with the 20mm pancake as my first lens.. but I want a less sharpe, more vintage/cinematic looking lens for shooting short films and such.. I have heard and been recommended a lot on these two lens, so which is better for me? (I know thats subjective, but if I was trying to get the wes anderson style feel to my films..) http://www.amazon.co...Minoltas rokkor or http://www.ebay.com/...t=Camera_Lenses Would these be wide angle lenses? because I know he usually uses a lot of wide angle, quick pan shots. and I am open for other options in these price ranges... Thanks!
very important thing I think that HD-DSLR's gave to film makers though is shallow depth of field and this has a great effect on how cinematic something looks in my opinion. Lower f-stop numbers will give you better shallow depth of field then higher numbers so keep this in mind when lens hunting.
Thanks for the good advice... Lower f-stop numbers? What do you mean by this? I understand the shallow depth of field idea and would like a lens that can produce this, but which lens would be good for shallow depth of field? The 20mm pancake?

Purchasing the GH2, need help finding a lens to go with it..

how is this as a manual prime? http://www.ebay.com/ctg/Canon-50mm-f-18-FD-Lens-/112245794?_refkw=canon+fd+50mm&_pcatid=783&_pcategid=3323&LH_ItemCondition=1000&_from=R40&_dmpt=Camera_Lenses -
Wow thank you! Reading already... Do you think the 14mm would be a better decision than the 20mm, since the 14mm would be wider, more of a film look? And then I could still have room in the budget for the 14-42mm kit lens.. Does that combination sound good?

Is the lumix 20mm pancake a prime lense? I am leaning towards this with my Gh2, and maybe also the kit lens... -

would the canon fd 28mm be fully manually prime? -
Can you recommend a solid 14mm? And for an adapter, would something like this work? http://www.amazon.com/Fotodiox-Adapter-Olympus-Panasonic-Cameras/dp/B003EAVUMK/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1349025595&sr=1-1&keywords=canon+fd+to+gh Or should I invest more..And thanks I will look into a tripod as well, and this website is great.

Thanks for the response. I am going to drop the kit lens and pick up the 20mm pancake, and then pick up 1 prime lens. The canon FD 28mm F/2.8 is on ebay new for 50 bucks, so I think I will get that. Should I go with the fotodiox like this http://www.amazon.com/Fotodiox-Adapter-Olympus-Panasonic-Cameras/dp/B003EAVUMK/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1349019069&sr=1-1&keywords=Canon+FD+gh2 or a better adapter? Thanks again. -
Thanks so much for the help guys... Ok I am going to drop the kit lens, purchase the 14mm pancake, (which will actually be 28mm right?) and then one older prime lens. On ebay it is only like 50 bucks for canon fd 28mm f/2.8, is this a good combination/call? And right on about getting different gear than the lens. Maybe I should say screw the pancake and spend that money on that follow focus rig. What would be the advantage/purpose of the nd variable filter?

I like the idea of purcashing old prime lenses to get the real film look (which I have read about), but I do not have a monitor... IS there an all in one adapter I can get so I can purchase some nice old prime lenses? I am going to get the kit lens that comes with it, I just want have a nicer lens as well. My budget is 200-400 for the nicer lens.. I am looking on amazon. I heard the Canon FD series can give a good look. Any recommendations out there? -
Wow , awesome answer. Thanks. I am going to get the kit lens but I have a little extra budget to spend so I am going to get this 50mm lens as well. What do you think about it? Will it be good for short films? Kind of cinematic look? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001GCVA0U/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER And will this adapter work with the GH2 and this lens? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003TROEBM/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&smid=A2UHLVL8IH9Q52

I don't want the kit lens that comes with the GH2 on amazon, so which lens should I purchase? I am mainly purchasing this for shooting short films... Do I need an adapter for all lenses on this camera? What would be the best lens for video?? And second question, with the GH2, can I easily edit the footage in FCP X? That is my editing software... Thanks guys!
-
Ok Gh2 is looking like the answer.. I am going to purchase an adapter so I can get a better lens than the kit lens, which adapter would I need? And any lens recomendations?
-
Hmm, well whats your opionion LAFILM on the gH2? Would you spend the 100 dollars more for the 60d?
-
Hey thanks for the response in the help.. looks like g2 will be the winner, my only question is when the g3 comes out, will the g2 drop in price drastically? Therefor, should I wait to buy the g2 until the 3 comes out? I was planning on purchasing my g2 this week... Thanks again.
-
I haven't but it looks sweet. Do you think it shoots better video than the canon 60d? Or is that more about the lens? What lens would you recommend with the Gh2? And I am beginner DSLR user, so I don't know if some will be too difficult for me to use?
-
Ok, so I have been researching the past few days and I have been trying to decide on which DSLR camera I want to buy. I have been leading towards the canon 60d with the canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM (thats about my budget), but I have been reading more that I should spend less on the body and more on the lens... So with a budget of around $1300 (amazon prices- the 60d and 50mm lens comes to $1250), which camera/lens combination would you choose? I am open for anything and all advice.. Would the t3i or the Nikon D5100 be a better call, and then spend more on a lens? I am trying to shoot short films and documentaries (interviews) with this camera. I don't have too much lighting right now but I could get some in the future. I have a decent mic... I just don't want to spend too much on a body and then be upgrading in a few years to something better, or vice versa. All help is appreciated, Thanks! (send me any options of camera/lens combo for a budget of $1300)
