I seen a guy do a shoot out with a 6d, mkII, and mkIII testing for moire and other issues. and from would I could visually tell, the MKII was worse
-
i've not noticed, haven't been looking it's 100000 light years ahead of the gh2 LCD so I'm not going to complain.

"SLIGHTLY" better. there are a few comparison videos around the interwebs lol

best thing i've seen in a long upstream color, act of valor, red tails, and episodes of CSI and tons of others it didn't seem to matter. and now days with external recorders, it almost doesn't matter what bit the camera has, but more importantly clean HDMI out The only limits a camera has, are the excuses people give them. I've seen pretty impressive videos shot on an iPhone 4. There are things like rolling shutter and moire than an make a video less appealing, but you have to work around it instead of making excuses of "can't" if you plan on making a movie with a lot of REAL mixed with CGI, it may matter a "bit".....no pun intended I could go on for another hour about this, but you get the point. and Zach, your friend is wrong. Your 5D doesn't have a higher bit rate unless of course you have magic lantern installed

Upgrading from GH2 - F3, Red One, or BMC?
GravitateMediaGroup replied to OzNimbus's topic in Cameras
there are some big differences in each of those cameras bmcc = best bang for buck f3 = is only 1080 i believe (i'm sure it has HDMI out, i've not done a lot of research on it, but the price dropping as caught my eye) red one = 90% chance you will have to buy a used one, and then the accessories, and although it is an amazing camera, it's slowly being looked at as being "old". I personally would take one in a heartbeat if the price was right. But I'm waiting around on the BMCC. If it doesn't blow my mind and impress me = to the hype, I then will look into other options. I would say 2013 will be a big year for cameras. and depending on your shooting style, a camera that doesn't deserve enough credit and is a tad bit overpriced is the Panasonic HPX 255 or even the 250, but they are P2, and it's being said that P2 is a dying breed, and pretty dang expensive. But the specs of the hpx255 are pretty nice as far as a "all in 1 camera" 10 bit 422 100mbs built in ND and so on ok, I take everything I said back lol get a c100 with an atomos ninja....i forgot about this setup lol -
yes, but no live view while recording. I'm guessing this issue will be addressed in the near future

Sony F35 reaches $12,000 on eBay from $250,000 in 2008
GravitateMediaGroup replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
battery and charger not included = $2500 so 12,000 just jumped to 14,500 -
these also are't the BEST possible quality because it would have taken me HOURS to upload. Where I currently live suffers from below average internet speeds.......even in 2013 this is still an issue?

50 or 72? and what lens?
-
Like I said earlier, de clicked is a good thing to have. I wouldn't lie to you. When you get to using it you will understand what I'm saying. I sent back the voightlander 25mm to exchange for the 17.5 for this reason alone, and I've had to regrets. not to mention the rokinon lenses have a pretty smooth focus, it's not real tight and just turns like butter, but not too loose. order one from BH, use it for a few days, and if you don't like it send it back or exchange it. I've never bought ANYTHING from BH that I was stuck with owning. they are really good about returns, and sometimes they will pay return shipping.

@craighbuckley MAYBE....just maybe a variable ND filter will work it will help regardless with being able to FINE tune the aperture, but it depends on other settings and how bright the lights are lol can you post a screenshot of the clip you are describing?

Ideal settings for GH3? (color grading and a first example)
GravitateMediaGroup replied to Wit's topic in Cameras
Trying to "emulate" film with digital is A LOT differrnt than and actually calling digital "film" It's the same as saying "I want the sin city/matrix look" Also, as a owner a both, I can say, that having a higher bit that 72 is a better option, if it isn't, you will have no need to ever patch your gh3. Have you seen the video of the guy proving the gh2 has more DR than it gets credit for. Do you know for a FACT( has a 2 vs 3 shoot out been done) that the gh3 has the better DR? -

@blance achieving the "film" look can't be done from the camera itself it takes a combination of things, starting with 24p, and a nice quality lens that isn't super sharp. if you want to better achieve the "film look" as of this very second, sell your gh3 and buy a gh2 ; ) -

thats why it was such a big deal the hobbit was 48 and i'm not trying to "take back" anything I will just laugh at those that call digital "film" If Peter Jackson is calling The Hobbit a "film" he is an idiot in my book. not to mention the hobbit was garbage -

@burnetrhoades shhhh, i'm trying to make "I 4K'd it" the new cool thing to say and I will disagree, that there are TONS of people to take this to heart, myself included. if it wasn't shot on FILM, it wasn't FILMED. if you are watching a movie in a theater that was shot on digital, we can just say "motion picture" -

People want to emulate the look of film with digital cameras because it's WAY cheaper than shooting with film to begin with. People want the aesthetics of film, not the prices that comes with it. I never said to use the word "video", but shoot or shot. Then if somebody was to ask what you "shot on", you would reply "digital" or possibly even "digital HD" or possibly even "digital 4k" So no, it won't take long for people to drop the use of "I filmed this" because they will be PROUD to let you know "I 4K'd it" lol -
BH has been slacking latly on new releases it seems like. adorma, amazon, and samys has had multiple shipemtns of gh3's I'm pretty sure BH STILL doesn't carry the Hero 3 Black. I haven't checked in the past couple days, BH also doesn't have any GH3 battery grips or mics in stock, which are 2 more items that other places have managed to get more regularly. very few people have said they have received their BMCC from BH, so hopefully that's the one camera that they can keep coming at a progressive pace. I still love BH and they are the best as far as inventory, but some things seem a little off, like the GP3 black Also i'm 95% sure they don't carrry SLR Magic products....anybody know why?

@Julian you must have missed my post about the possibility that they don't offer it is because how the GoPro can pretty much expose for the highlights and shadows automatically with pretty impressive results. The fact that you can see clouds and other detials in a sky, and green grass/trees and whatever else without having blown out highlights or underexposed landscape. I'm sick of people assuming this is a possibillity. If you guys aren't happy with it, start your own camera company. let the EXPERTS do what they do. I for one have NEVER had this issue, and i'm sure there are a million people that have never had this issue, nor do they care. This topic is becoming very polluted with ignorance. It's give me give me give me, with no considerion of "maybe there is a reason..." even if it is a "easy software addition" it may comprimise the performance of the gopro. get over it people, if they add it, they add it, until then, it's pointless to keep going back and forth with our theories. The issue has been addressed to them, whether they acknowledge it or not is up to them. NOW GO SHOOT SOME VIDEOS, and stop worring about things that are out of your control. also, the BMCC is aimed at movies and not photography, and it has moire.

@blanche you are missing my point, it's a bad trend going around that needs to stop it's a slap in the face to the pioneers, and "film makers" that are still doing everything they can to keep film alive. at the film festivel, in what way were the movies being shown? if it was digital transfered to film, I would give it somewhat more credit being "viewed on film" if movies were shown on a projector hooked to a laptop, then it was called a "movie festivel"
