to test it before it got mass produced into millions of Hero 3? no, to add 24p, 35mbs, CineStyle maybe?, and a flatter image better for grading, instead of crushed blacks. have you tested for the flciker with protune on & off? and a 24/30/48/60/120, and then the variety of those settings combination with 720,1080,2k which I think is like 30+ different setting combinations to experiment with.

cinematic footage isn't as sharp as you think. here is some stuff I shot using gh2/gh3/canon 6d using rokinon aka samyang 35 1.4 and 85 1.4 (mostly 35) keep in mind most of this footage was shot during muggy/snowy overcast days. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEysEUltwKk and this is another video shot with various lenses, (sigma 30mm, voightlander, rokinon 35 & 85) with a little better lighting outside http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=F9sc4opJ4a4 I used to think having a de clicked aperture wasn't all that important, but not I won't hardly consider a prime that isn't de clicked. IMO in allows you to be able to fine tune the aperture a little better. one of my absolute favorite lenses to use the the gh2 is the sigam 30mm with a variable ND filter. it requires an adapter, but you can get a kipon adapter on ebay for like $80 a lot of the sigma 30mm can be seen in the 2nd video of this post

@zach and you can't agree that there may be a reason they don't/can't/wont add it? you ASSUME it's a possibility. just as we ASSUME each new Canon won't suffer from moire, yet it does. my next question is, if the HERO 4 doesn't have a exp. lock, will you refuse to buy it? be honest lets just pretend what MIGHT be possible of the HERO 4....144mbs or more, true 4k, raw, 4 hour battery, and a new interchangeable lens system. will you NOT buy it if there is no lock?

so, was making a patition to begin with worth it? It was your attempt to feel like you acomplished something, just like everone does with a petition. a simple e-mail or phone call will get you results quicker than trying to force the system. you guys are REALLY missing the BIGGER picture. if it's something they wanted, it would already be on there, or they are saving it for the hero 4 i've never looked into the possibilites, but if people (hackers) really felt this was a end of the world feature, they would already be trying to hack the ability to it. it's a $400 camera, leave it at that. As a "$400 camera" it does everything I need it to, and then some. why is this even a discussion anymore?

i have the rokinon 35 1.4, which is the same company as samyang and I love every bit of it. de clicked aperture takes the cake for me.

Ideal settings for GH3? (color grading and a first example)

shoot or shot works i've made a promise to myself from here on out, when I see people use the word "film" when talking about digital to correct them, so that they can continue to pass it on and eventually everone will be on the same page ; ) -
ADORAMA HAS LIMITED QTY ACT NOW!! lol
-
you must not understand if the company feels like fixing it, they will obviously they are a CAMERA manufacture. they know what their capabilities are has the exposure glitch been tested in regular/wide/fish and has it been tested and ran through on EVERY setting of the camera? like I said, if they NEVER address this issue, sales still won't be affected. I personally think they camera does an AMAZING!!!! job of being able to have a VERY balanced exposure of the sky and the ground without blown out highlights. and if I had to guess, THIS is the reason you will never have an option for exposure lock. Can you find me another camera on the market that can do this without an ND filter or post correction?

@axel you are trying to hard, end of discussion from now on, you don't worry about my post, and i won't worry about yours you lost all credibility with me in 3 words "when you film" .......for future reference, don't use the word "film" when discussing digital cameras. it's slap in the face to the pioneers. -
A. gopro will adress this feture if they see fit B. gopro may not care that this feature is missing C. gopro sales will not be affected by this D. gopro will still be used in professional productions with or without this feature E. gopro isn't a sony, nikon, canon, or panasonic, their issues will take a little longer to sort out F. maybe they are saving this as marketing plan for the Hero 4? (much like iPhone saves features for later that they are more than able to offer) If you put EVERY single thing possible into one camera, how would they ever be able to sale a hero 4?
-
+1 for moongoat I'm gonna guess it's all for a chance to say "I got the problem fixed"
-
also, you and a handful of others may in fact have a bad batch of the hero 3, I haven't noticed such an issue, so I guess I can say "I do not have any of the issues you have mentioned" so I have no need to sign, and I will leave it up to gopro to address the issues which i'm 99.9% sure they are MORE than aware of. Have you tried a simple e-mail or phone call? Or did you just shoot sraight to a pitition?

a lag is a lag is a lag, and I don't always shoot 2.7k and I also have multiple batteries. the fact is, the camera hasn't even been out 6 months yet, let them do their job. if you want a game that has exposure lock, buy a camera that cost more than $400 they didn't cheat you out of anything, because "exposure lock" is not mentioned as a feature. and you may be wasting your time if it isn't even possible. so like I originally said, there are several other issues that need addressed before exposure lock. and there are issues that others have that I ddin't mention.
-
This is funny. You have a camera the size of a pack of gum that packs 5x the ability of most cameras on the market at double the gopro price and you ask for more. Be patient, I'm sure they are aware of all issues, and it takes time. You breathing down their next will do nothing but create a hiccup in their progress. There are FAR more important issues that need to be addressed long before an exposure lock. Poor battery life, turning on automatically, charging issues, and don't forget about the app that lags for 5 seconds and doesn't provide live preview. Now that foxconn bought a chunk of gopro, they will be one of the greatest cameras ever, or will come stock with every iphone.

the gopro hero 3 shoots raw lol
-
are you asking this about the voightlander? if no...no way
-
It came directly from John Brawley himself in a post on the P-V forums
-
You want a t3i, what canon lenses do you have? 1000 for the voightlander MFT BMCC will not be out anytime soon And according to John brawley, MFT lenses don't mount properly on MFT BMCC
-
@milandirector I have a voightlander 17.5 for sale and MIGHT consider selling my gh2. But I would almost rather sell my gh3 than gh2 until the 3 is hacked lol and as far as the t3i goes, I may be spoiled by the look of the my 6d and the 10000 5D mk2 & mk3 videos online. but the t3i/t4i just comes off as a "generic" version of canon that is sold by some shady dude in a dark ally. it doesn't have that same warm and loving look as some of the others. look into a mkII I've seen a few places selling them for around $1500 to hold you over till the BMCC is released. and magic lantern is good to go with it. I'm waiting patiently for a GH3 hack (which is a long time away) and ML for the 6d (which is hopefully done in a week or two)

GH2 = $680 http://www.samys.com/p/Panasonic/DMCGH2K/DMC-GH2-Digital-SLR-Camera-Body-Black/37768.html?origin=product-search&gclid=CKzuh5vd9bQCFcsWMgodmAQAnA t3i = $600 http://www.samys.com/p/Digital-SLRS/5169B001/EOS-Rebel-T3i-Digital-SLR-Camera-Body/47757.html The extra $80 is well worth it IMO This pricing is based on the cheapest I could find from (TRUSTED) sites.

I owned a t4i for all of 3 days before sending it back. major let down. better off getting a t2 or t3i

Ideal settings for GH3? (color grading and a first example)
GravitateMediaGroup replied to Wit's topic in Cameras
@axel My suggestion is to create a preset for only the clips that were shot at the same time. If you shot 10 clips within 15 minutes the lighting will not have changed that much to cause a difference. don't use the same preset for clips shot 6 hours earlier, the day before and the day of. -

This isn't as much of a vs test as it is a detail/low light test. Remember "unscientific" See if this works http://youtu.be/OBonpl7fCqM -

yeah, 500gb - 1TB dirves aren't too terribly expensive anymore. If you are trying to keep your footage safe, spare no expense. I've learned that the hard way and now....... I have everything on my main PC HD, I have another HD that mirrors my main PC. I'm about to install another 2TB internal to drag and drop to, and periodicaly I backup to an external, and for stuff that I REALLYYYYY don't want to lose I store to to what would be a 5th HD (external) Like I said, I've learned the hard. Its a bit excessive, but it's ALOT easier to delete old footage from a HD than to recover a corrupted or fried HD ; )
