1.   not sure I understand what you are meaning with this?
2.   ND filters, 12bit 444, a better LCD, a handle, less jello, and it's not shaped like a deformed DSLR. oh, and 120 fps can come in handy every now and then.    I would be all for this camera, but it just seems like they cut a lot of corners.
3. Like I said, you guys can buy or rent your 1DC, and I will rent a c500, and at the end of the day we will see what video looks better....deal?
4. this camera is the biggest joke since the "expected release date" of the BMCC.   fake 4k (8 bit on top of it), no raw,  no xlr, soft as cotton, and basically $600 for 20 minutes of footage. This camera is for people that wanna say "hey, look at me, I own the newest overpriced canon camera"  I wouldn't even rent this camera to get a true opinion....why you ask? because I would rent a c500 and know I'm getting everything I need from a camera.
5.   yeah, but everyday improvements are being made to fix these issues (the filters and software plugins) obviously the mk3 is a better camera, but in the near future, I would say M/A won't be much of an issue.
6.   did you see the above posted video c300 vs 6d?    I don't own a mk3, but I would assume they are the same, some claim 6d is better.  If you want to spend $1000 more dollars for a unknown micro amount of difference in low light, be my guest ; )
7. what shocks me, is that if you have the money to even think about buying this camera........DO IT. shoot with it for a few days, and if it doesn't live up to your standards, return it.  obviously don't shred the box when you open it, and don't pour sand into it.  I tested the d600 before I bought the 6d and was pleased with the photos, but the videos was a nightmare.  you will not achieve the same results of the d600 demo video released by nikon called "chasing the light"  I would almost bet that video was shot on a RED and was made into a video of people "using" a d600.  To make a long story short, I returned the d600 and couldn't be happier.  I also purchased a t4i to test when I got the 6d, and after using the 6d first, the t4i couldn't impress me if it wanted to.     So basically, I had to purchase 3 cameras to find the one I wanted, if you live close to a canon dealer or BH photo, it would be easier for you, but I pretty much live in the sticks, and don't have the luxury of just playing with a camera at a local camera shop.   BH is really good about returns, I think they use to charge a restocking fee, but the past year I haven't noticed them doing it.    The 6d has a few flaws just like almost every camera in the world.  I would really like to have a t4i swivel LCD on it, but being that it's more geared towards photographers, Id say Canon didn't care.  Not to mention their are ways of dealing with this issue.  Monitors and what not.   I am a big camera critic, but not on a scientific level, but more on functionality, quality, performances.  The 6d is everything I expected it to, and had the flaws I expected it to have, and ML may change some of those as well.  If I could change anything about the camera honestly it would be to knock about $300 off the price.  Give it a little time and it will be down to $1500.     My go to camera for nice detail video will be a gh2, (until I get my BMCC LOL) but if I am at an even that I want to be able to shoot video and snap pictures on the fly, I'll be the 6Ds pimp for that event ; )    am in a hurry so please excuse my grammar this post, I should have a video up soon of gh2 clips in the first half, 6d in the second half, so you can see how they compare in a way I guess.
8. Search youtube for episode 15 gh2 dynamic range myth and this argument may be ended.
9.
Cool, without rendering? Can you do AVCHD After Effects Roundtrip?   Ben
Not sure, I don't do much bouncing around. I do pretty much what I need in Vegas except film convert, but that will be available for Vegas pretty soon.
10. If you are mainly shooting video go with the 6d. $1000 cheaper for = quality video/possibly better low light Plus magic lantern will be available for it any day now.
11. No noise in low light is really the only thing I care about with the 6d. If I want detail I'll shoot with gh2. all of this is temporary until I have the BMCC then the gh2 and 6d will be B Cams and stills cam.
12.
What is great about Premiere is the After Effects/Audition roundtrip.  It is also used more by facilities houses than FCP X so this may affect the work you get (Premiere is now considered one of the big boys with Avid and FCP so it is becoming a industry standard).     Ben
Vegas can go round trip to a PP, AE, and audition in version 12.
13. Haven't really put it through any scientific test yet, I would guess somebody online has. Look on some canon forums. There is progression being made everyday for Anti M/A filters and plugins so eventually these things will be a non issue. I'd sell the MK3 and buy 2 6D ; ) I'll try and upload a shot I got with a subject lit by a lamp and the background is all black. Basically NO noise and I really couldn't believe it.
14. In preparation of the BMCC eventually making its way to me, I just had a pretty serious PC built, that way I'm not just staring at an amazing camera and no way to connect the dots.
15. Vegas 12 hands down. Have you ever experienced a world of render free video editing? Real time everything and 10x faster to work with. I have used my fair share of each and Vegas can do anything the rest can do. People still look at Vegas as an armature NLE, but since version 10 it's gotten pretty serious, and a lot of people including myself don't even push it to its full potential. But 90% of the editing I do doesn't require a lot of flash and glitter. Lol
16.
Yes they are but they are no better then 5d2.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA no
but what about the 6D.....???
I love everything about it and it shoots better video in low light than the c300. I originally purchased a Nikon d600 and had it boxed up to return quicker than it took to unbox. What is it about the 6d you want to know or unsure of?
17.   I have been testing a nikon d600 the past few days.  Like every camera it has pros and cons.
18. Any thoughts on the D6?  I am really considering this camera and was wondering how it compares to the MKIII as far as video quality.   I  just purchased a nikon d600 last night and probably going to return it, I just wanted to get some hands on before making a final decision.  I keep reading about dust & oil issues on the sensor of the d600 but I've not noticed anything (yet)  What I do like is a $600 lens came with it, very nice picture quality,  full frame, feels solid, and MUCH improved video quality over the d7000, which I also currently own and going to sell lol  It actually shoots fairly stabilized video handheld, but that may have something to do with full frame and I'm used to gh2 earthquake footage.  A few complaints so far is some moire, and no ability to control aperture in video mode, have to set it in picture mode first.    I am also curious about the t4i, the tracking focus seems like it would come in handy with my glidecam. My plan is to sell my panny tm900 to buy the t4i.  But not sure if the t4i would be a waste of time.  On paper it seems legit, and with magic lantern (not sure if it's available yet) should make it a pretty nice camera.   Any input, or other options I should look into would be appreciated, thanks.   ps.  the $1600 Mark II deal doing around has caught my eye as well, but I personally think the 6D would be better.
19. Other than the 5 second lag between camera & phone, it's a pretty awesome app. I seen a comment above that said the GH2 has more noise in low light than GoPro? Or was you comparing the 5d to the GoPro The GoPro is AWEFUL in lowlight, not just nosie, but big huge blotches.
20. There is another video floating around showing how well you can tweak highlights.
21. I am a big fan of the sigma 30mm with tiffen variable ND (or any vari ND for that matter) combo. The voight 17.5, sigma 30, and rokinon 85 t1.5 will be my main lenses for the time being. may rent a zeiss compact prime when I finally get the camera to see if it would be worth saving up for.   I was very surprised at how filmic the sigma 30 looked with my gh2, and my mouth is watering to test it with the BMCC. I have the rokinon 35mm t 1.5, and 95% of the time I will decide to use the sigma over it.  All of these are great lenses, but if I had only one lens to use with the BMCC I would probably go Sigma 30mm (unless I had the choice of some $3000-$50000 lenses) lol
22. I don't care what anybody says, but I have used several "make your footage look like film" plugs and this is hands down the best.  You can not emulate the grain of film convert with any NLE built in "grain" effect, and if you have, please share.    Is this a plugin that you should use on EVERY single project? No.  If anybody thinks this software is bogus, then all company's (apple, avid, sony, adobe, canon, panasonic, RED, BMD,and so on) should stop progressing and leave EVERYTHING exactly how it is because everything is as perfect as it can possibly be.  How much sense would that make?  Give the company credit for giving people another option to enhance a project. They provide tons of presets, but you're not forced to use them.   The customer support with the people at film convert is pretty awesome, if the price of film convert it what bothers you, shoot them an e-mail or LIKE them on facebook and tell them you are interested but like most starving artist working on a budget and I would almost guarantee they will help you the best they can.  I have made suggestions to blackmagic before on some things that would be nice and convenient and they basically shut me down, I make the same suggestions to the people at film convert they welcomed my suggestions and are open to new ideas to improve their products.    Film Convert is probably in my top 5 favorite software purchases and I am glad that my purchase will help to better the software and allow them to keep moving forward.  I could go on and on about film convert but the fact is, you either like it or not, like Germay said, grade your project how you want to give it a "special taste" as axel calls it, and then throw film convert on it as a final mastering touch, if that look fits the project.  I'm a big fan of magic bullet looks, but I never use their presets, I'll create the look I want using the tools they provide.
23. anybody know anywhere online that has them in stock right now? B&H doesn't ship until early December, which I'm guessing will be longer because they still haven't even started shipping the new GOPRO yet.
24.
Mike Why'd you do that? I need to see people different places lighting conditions focal lengths NOT closeups on stained glass! Please try again! Have you got some 16mm lenses to test with a monitor plugged in or maybe even a prores recorder?
geeez dude, it's his camera, he can shoot whatever he wants lol
25.
Spoiler alerts? Thought you'd seen the film. Many reviews going up now that go into detail without spoiler warnings Really Dont read threads that have Skyfall in the title its pretty obvious what Im going to be talking about. I reckon at some point there will be a return to film when the enthusiasm for digital begins to fall and yes it is convenient shooting in HD but so what . If your a cinemtographer and the film has a budget then you would shoot on the format best for the film. Would you shoot a film the easy way or the best way for your production. Youd have to be pretty dumb to shoot a film that doesnt look the best when investors have invested millions. Or are you talking about its easier to use when you make a film about your cats? Personally I prefer to shoot on film then transfer to a DI for editing as I dont have a steenback and I'm not Steven Spielberg Although I could edit 16mm film but I think I'll give that a miss as its to easy to mess it up.
The topic is about the format of Skyfall, not "thoughts on skyfall" and not everyone has seen it, I don't go out of my way to see every movie that hits theaters and I am not the biggest fan of 007, nor do I read reviews of movies because I could care less about another persons opinion, I'll be the judge for myself what I really think of a movie. Don't hold your breath on film making a major comeback to the same amount of use as back in the day. A few people will use it here and there, but camera geeks are the only ones that care about the "true film" look & feel and the average person could care less and Hollywood understands this. Cheaper, Faster, Less Time, More money. The comment I made about cats was completely sarcastic, I don't even own a cat, it was making fun people that buy $6000 cameras to shoot videos of their cat for youtube. I really would like to see some of your film work, is it online by chance?
