Why are you worried about Matching with ART lenses with anything else? You have so much different glass does it even matter? Do you plan to only use the ART glass with the new lenses you buy to match them and never use them with your other lenses? To answer your question >Zeiss Otus

I have the Tiffen Vari ND, I will try it out later today and let you know.. I literally have not tried it since getting my a7S since I have just been shooting at night!!!

Sony A7 II review - 5 axis stabilisation in video mode
/p/ replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Does the a7II have APSC mode? How would shooting in that mkde affect IBIS, would it make anh difference at all? Wouldn't the IBIS need to move less to stabilise the APSC crop? How much difference is there between 3 and 5 axis stabilisation for static handheld shots? Onviously the IBIS is most appealing for use with vintage glass (at least for me) which don't get 5 axis.. -
Fuck trying to match an a7S and any Canon camera... Sounds awful. Why stick with Canon at all? I mean, sure you have some gear already.. And they aren't exactly "bad" but there are so many better options right now.. Amd let's be honest, Canon aren't going to cannibalize their Cinema EOS line with a decent DSLR (or even mirrorless) any time soon.. It has never been part of the Canon philosophy. My point is this.. It just seems silly to drop so much on a MkIII when both the GH4 and a7S are better and far cheaper....... You can also adapt your Canon glass to either of them if you wanted too.... Why not just get rid of the MkII and 7D buy a GH4 or a7S and adapt your Canon glass? You might even save some momey in the long run bh not having to drop so much on a MkIII that aren't even in the race any more. Obviously try the GH4 and a7S before hand... Or wait for the a7S II or a9.. SONY release a new camera every month it seems. Both companies also offer better firmware support/upgrades, Panasonic especially.

So a mirrorless Canon camera with the same old outdated video specs we can expect from Canon? Yawn.

Anyone owned or used one of these? Andrew did a short article on them when they were in their kickstarter phase.. I wonder if he has one and still uses it?? Alternatively there is the Fotodiox Vari ND filter, however.. I am not sure what the quality would be like. I feel like these are a really great idea, I personally dislike having to use ND filters.. But maybe that's just me. One of these plus IBIS on an a7S II would be epic. Anyway, really interested to get the opinions of anyone that has one or used one, thanks.

Sony A7 II review - 5 axis stabilisation in video mode
/p/ replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I'm not really disappointed, while it's unfortunate that the IBIS on the a7 II isn't great I am glad that SONY have stepped in this direction and I hope they keep pushing forward as they have been doing. Hopefully the a7S II will be an improvement again ontop of what they have already done. And if SAR is anything to go by I am highly anticipating the a9 which is supposed to be aimed more at pros than the a7 series. -
Too long, didn't read.. I did however read the post you wrote and are referring too. I am not intimidated by amateurs having the same gear as me, nor am I worried about sharing my knowledge with people who want to learn. Sharing is caring.

Does Cinema EOS mark the end of high spec Canon DSLR video?
/p/ replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
People still use Canon DSLR's for video?? Sounds awful. -
Thanks Andy, what would you say is the best "set" of "lenses with character"? I am currently shooting with an a7S and the Zeiss f/4 zooms which for me are more than fine, but I wouldn't mind buying some affordable manual focus glass that has a bit more character. I'd prefer a "set" is there anything standout? By set I mean Nikkor Non-Ai, Canon FD etc. Simply because I'd like them to all have the same feel image AND construction wise, and I can just leave the adapter on the body for ease of use. Thanks.

Can someone remind me of of that very special (Pentax?) lens that is the same as the Zeiss version? I remember seeing some stills shot using one and wanting badly to buy one. Thanks.

Can you upload a file again Andrew? It says it's no longer available. Thanks.

Hey, just a few questions regarding the Sony a7S. Hoping someone might be able to help me out. I have read that it will not record XAVCS onto cards smaller than 64GB, in terms of speed for the card though what is the lowest speed that will be fine for XAVCS recording with no issues.. 30mbs? 45mbs? 80mbs 95mbs?? In XAVCS how long can you record for before a 64GB card is full? Does the a7S have a recording limit like some other cameras? Or can it continuously record until the card is full?? How long will a battery last with continuous recording?? Thanks
