  1. I use Pavtube to convert AVCHD MTS footage into Prores and work from that.
  2. Sony is pushing 4k pretty hard, meaning the statements they've made regarding it and their 4k television. I would put money on the next generation of Sony cameras will shoot 4k (end of Oct there should be an announcement for NEX FF, possible their other cameras too accoring to SAR).

    Novoflex Adapters

Sorry I'm not 100% sure on what you mean, I'll see if I got this right.   The aperture ring on lenses have click stops but the aperture ring on the adapter is smooth right? It should control the lens via the aperture control lever on the back of the lens?   I'm not sure what you mean by wide open doesn't work though? Do you mean the adapter doesn't allow the lens to use it's maximum aperture mechanically? Or do you mean the IQ from the adapted lenses is poor when wide open on the adapter? (The adapter is somehow changing the performance of the lens?)    I currently have a Nikkor to MFT Speed Booster which lets you control the aperture on the lenses by manipulating the aperture lever on the back of the lenses, since it controls the lens via the lever it allows a smooth aperture ring on the adapter as opposed to having to use the click stop aperture control on the lens.    From what I understand all Sony lenses also have the aperture control lever on the back of the lens which would allow for adapters to be able to control the exposure (but some adapters have click stops and some are smooth) I already own a fotodiox pro alpha to mft adapter which has click stops built into it (I doubt it's accurate but they're there nonetheless however I much prefer the smooth adapter ring on the Speed Booster and am hoping the Novoflex adapters aperture control ring is also smooth. Also I hope it doesn't mechanically stop you from shooting wide open.. If that's the case for the money they cost I probably wouldn't get one (hoping I have misunderstood you though).   Thanks.

Is the aperture control on the adapter smooth or with clicks?

Overpriced or worth it? Considering the Sony alpha to m4/3 adapter it's about $300 though..
  6. If you have Resolve 9 from BMCC will the dongle still let you work with 10?
  7. Bump for interest, since getting my BMCC I'd like to build a new PC between about $1,500-2,000 AUD that will be able to handle a RAW workflow also with Resolve and Premiere.
  8. Got everything I need to start shooting with my BMCC (finally) used it as a B-Cam in a short interview today to test it out.. Can't figure out how to get the footage off of the SSD though. I am using an OWC SSD and formatted through my Macs Disk Utility to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and started shooting (seemed to be working fine). Connected the SSD via a Dock I bought (same one I used to format the SSD) and tried copying the footage from it to a folder on the desktop of my Mac, it transfers about 5GB of the footage and then stops saying the drive is in use and can't copy any more..... Rang local computer shop the guy told me to get NTFS-3G For Mac, downloaded and installed that now it only copies across 1.5GB before getting an error.   Just curious as to how others are getting their footage? What am I doing wrong?   EDIT: I shot in Prores and the file is 40GB..
  9. So there is no 25p for PAL versions of the camera? That's just aggravating.. And It would have to be on purpose though right? Surely they're not that moronic over at Olympus.
  10. How much focus pulling are you trying to do exactly? I can't think of many scenarios where you would have to pull focus frequently unless you are using the camera in situations that it is not suited too (like trying to film sports on it or something).. Also if you're using it filming children and just want snapshot equivalent videos of your kids.......
  11. Can someone give me some info on the current state of RAW in the 7D? I need a B-cam for my BMCC and while the obvious choice seems like the BMPCC I'd be really happy if the 7D was also an option.. But what's it like for practical use (specifically compared to the BMPCC)?   Does it have continuous recording? Is it reliable? What are the main cons?
  12. Pretty common knowledge at this point that it's worse than the 50mbps option.
  13. Since RAW is.. RAW, can you shoot with a BMCC + 5D3/7D etc and get very similar results when grading? Or do they grade differently?
  14. Don't suppose anyone has tried the Nikkor 12-24 f/4G with a Speed Booster on the BMCC? What would the 35mm FF equivalent focal length be with that combination? (12-24 + Speed Booster + BMCC).
  15.   Blackmagic is the company that does the buying out....................................................................... The problem is people think BMD are some new company that decided to bring a little nifty 2013 version of the "flip video" cameras and are willing to be bought out by some other company..
  16. Mine is on it's way, Nikon G > MFT for my BMCC.. I am very excited.
  17. I hope this is picked up by other manufacturers...... Doubt it though.

    EF > M4/3?

Redrock Micro LiveLens or MTF Services Live adapter? Anyone used these? Which is the least cumbersome? Do they work well?   What about straight adapter with an iris built it? How bad do these really Vignette? Would the Vignette less on a BMCC as opposed to true m4/3 camera? Who make the highest quality adapter of this type?
  19. Does anyone know specifically what the crop factor would be for Speed Booster + Nikkor DX lenses on a BMCC?
  20. What Nikon DSLR is currently the best for shooting video? I know the obvious choice is a Canon + ML but I'd like to know what Nikon has on offer.. I just bought a BMCC so I'm covered for RAW (I don't think there are many situations where I am going to want to shoot multi-cam RAW)..   I just want a DSLR as a B-Cam that I'll be able to hopefully match fairly well to BMCC in prores for some small projects. I am obviously considering the BMPCC but want to see how things play out from here (with the problems it's supposedly having) and consider what else is available, since I don't particularly need RAW in a B-cam and have Nikon lenses I'm wondering what Nikon options are available up till the D600 6D range of cameras. Thanks.
  21. cool, is it easy to remove chromabs in post? what is the crop factor on bmcc?
  22. Bought a BMCC, bought a MFT > Nikon G Speed Booster. Why? Because there is no EF version out yet.. And there's no way of knowing exactly how the adapter will be made to accomodate EF glass when it does come out anyway (will there be a built in aperture ring? More than likely it will be an electronically controlled aperture for MFT cameras like the GH3/OM-D etc making it useless for the BMCC).   I have bought a couple Nikkors already since I want to use the thing and they weren't too expensive, I do however really love Nikon glass but am not sure I want to invest much money in Nikon lenses when Canon glass is accommodated for far more (RED EF Mount, Kineraw EF Mount, BMCC EF Mount etc).   So it's kind of silly to invest more into Nikkor lenses right? Might as well get what I need to get by until there is a better solution for EF glass on the BMCC? I know there is the Live Lens for RRM but 2.4x crop is very harsh SB is pretty great. The only camera I know of supporting the Nikon F Mount is that horrendous JVC thing..... RED does have a Nikon mount it seems but I couldn't find much info on it by the looks of it I think it's a dumb Nikon mount for adapting Ai-s/AF-D lenses but not supporting the newer G lenses, same thing with the Kineraw Nikon F mount.   Thoughts?   EDIT: Oh and if anyone is curious I did contact Metabones about the MFT > EF SB and they wrote..   "Hi, J, Sorry! Pls wait……We developing a EF to M4/3 speed booster with electronic control….. Thank you! Alex GBI Ltd"
