Thats 8/3 = 2.66   1280x1080 with 2x scope =2560x1080,  then scale by 0.75 for a 810x1920   The vertical rez would go through the roof :)

OK I have reported the @fault@ to Andrew Reid Back to topic---- I think it would be better to state the minimum focal length to achieve a 2.35:1 aspect ratio without vignetting/light fall off. This method uses a common parameter which takes account of all the various compression ratios otherwise its like comparing apples and pears

The answer to this is a complicated one. In general it is no, but there are exceptions.     Look at the discussion to this vid on the tube-> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7mHjrjyOhM   What he succeeded in doing was changing the diopter of the Cinelux and placed a reverse matching diopter value lens at the front, which just happened to be the front element of an olympus wcon 8b. Therefore the diopters cancelled giving a zero power 0 diopter composite.   Most WA adapters are in the range 7-10 diopters unless you disassemble them for less power (some have 4 elements). He talks about 2 feet which is about -2 diopter on the scope and 2 diopter on the olympus wcon 8b front element. Of course this will make the rig no longer focusable but the wide angle will kind of make it pan focus.   Schneider used to make a UWL adapter for super8 cameras, on the variogon lens, but the lens had to be set to macro for it to work.   Using it or any WA with a scope may require placing a close up lens between the scope and the WA adapter   It is all down to experimentation.          

What is really interesting to me is that the SD card controller is the bottleneck for the older cams like 550D/600D or T2i/T3i . The bus speeds on those cams are obviously up to it by the fact that they can display images on their viewfinders. I wonder how difficult it would be for a dyed in the wool hardware engineer to sweat on a data bridge to a fast CF card as a hardware mod. There are some clever people in those Arduino type forums who would get this sorted over breakfast. The price of those older cams is now in closeout so even if the mod cost $500 it would be a steal.

That shot was not scope of course, if it had been then the out of focus part would have been vertically stretched producing a unique aesthetic.   Large diameter splits are expensive though, strange that a half lens can cost ten times more that a full lens :)

All scopes of a telescopic design are guaranteed to perform at the stated magnification at the infinity focus setting only.   For example a 2x scope will range from 2x at infinity focus to 1.5x at 0.5m

That seller running out of Canada knows nothing about the gear he is selling. When asked about what lens that Moller 30/2x he is selling for gold works with, he said he knows nothing about it.....     Hey, I no nothing about it but I know its worth a lot of money. Thats all I need to know... 

So you have basically no chance of a refund and you are stuck with a fkd ISCO36? The chances of getting a good rear element are ~nil. You could wait for a spare/repair but you would grow a long beard. :( OK this is what I would do in your situation --- the results may be a little unpredictable but worth a try 1 Source a good condition Sankor 16C about 100-150EUR 2 Remove and swap over the rear elements --- they are almost the same diameter 36~37mm BUT they will be different focal lengths! So what is likely to be the result? a) ISCO36 will no longer be 1.5X but bigger maybe 1.8-2x b) Focus range will change, maybe better maybe worse like losing infinity. Likely to be adjustable, may need to increase track length of the scope cell. vandiemenbroadcast.co.uk will advise you better.

I see your using split dioptres. Normally splits are for keeping foreground and background in focus simultaneously, used the other way round you can achieve some creative effects   Here is an example with a split +3 running from 1 to 7 o'clock with the clear side on the left, it was shot in adobe 1998 so may look a litlle washed out on your screen. Notice the extreme glow ;)
