Hey Stanley, I got the brass ring and cap bolt from the local chandlers. There are lots of sailing supply shops in my area. Maybe you can search for brass ring or similar.- 9 replies

SOLD: Moeller 32/2x CinemaScope Compact Anamorphot Rig
JohnBarlow replied to JohnBarlow's topic in Cameras
Hey Francisco, thanks It was you who turned me on to this lens as I really appreciate your work. I have two so this one is for sale. It is interesting to note that the one I am keeping serial 761xxxx, has Cyan coating producing blue/yellow flares and the one for sale here serial 762xxxx has a Magenta coating producing purple/green flares. I wonder why they made the change? I was tempted to keep the two because of the different coatings, but this is a chance for someone to join the exclusive Moeller 32/2x club ;)- 9 replies

So your are manually focussing the scope and letting the back lens find its focus in free run autofocus?
-
That Dyaliscope will be very sharp once setup properly, as used on the old turret cams like Mitchell, Arriflex, Cameflex see here http://www.widescreenmuseum.com/widescreen/dyaliscope_lenses.pdf

I am selling one of my compact Moeller rigs. See photos below (right click for big sizes) - Moeller 32/2x CinemaScope Anamorphot - Custom Lens Support for 15mm Rods/Rails - Sigma Achromat Diopter 52mm - Coupling Ring for52mm This is a professionally serviced lens and has NATO MIL SPEC Helicoid grease assuring you of smooth focussing whether you are shooting in the Alps or Cococabana beach. The lens is free of internal dust, fungus and haze. There is some paint loss on the high ridges of the focus ring and the usual "cleaning marks" which don't show in the footage. You can use any type of lens with this rig - classic manual, auto focus, rotating front element lenses and even plastic kit lenses. The support, once set up, will guarantee no slanted videos. The aluminium locking clamps are spring loaded, solid brass retention ring and heavy duty marine grade stainless steel cap hex bolt offers you the best quality. Price is £465.00 plus shipping. Returns are 14 days at buyers shipping cost. Contact me at the website below for a shipping quote to your area.

Simple solution No 2, requires some Blue Peter skills :) First study the image below, Compare the front of this Zeiss with the front glass in Kowas, Sankors , Mollers blah blah. Figured it out yet? Now the good folks at Carl's place in Jena knew a thing or two about optics.... What you need to do is cut out a hole in a piece of black cardboard using a compass and sharpie to make an aperture mask. Tape off the sides with some gaffer tape until you find the best point where the reflections disappear. I really ought to get paid for telling y'all this.... :P and if someone decides to start making these - remember you owe me.
-
Set your scope free! Back in the day, scopes were mounted on cine cameras and projectors on an adjustable sting so you could set the optimal scope-lens distance. If you find the gap is too big use a rubber lens hood as filler.
-
What you are seeing are the reflections from the inside walls of the focussing tube. A simple solution is to put some distance between the taking lens and the scope, thats why Helios lenses are favoured because the lens is deeply recessed.

Widest lens for Pocket Blackmagic camera Bolex anamorphot?
JohnBarlow replied to roccoforte's topic in Cameras
16/32 means it has rear aperture of 32mm and was intended for 16mm film 8/19 means it has rear aperture of 19mm and was intended for 8mm film both are 1.5x and made by Moeller but some say the Bolex ones are higher quality (unproven) there are 2x models also like 30/2x and 32/2x as well as the bigger cinema projection lenses -
I cant speak for the red iscos but my gold one is a direct copy of my 1954 H Chretien Benoist Berthiot Cinemascope 16m/m, sometimes known as a Hypergonar. Its the one which has engraved on the back tube that you must not use this lens for commercial purposes (ha!), which probably had something to do with a contract that was signed with 20th Century a year earlier and also upstaging their Superama line. Anyway its the same recipe, lenses , track length etc

Thats a sweet lens. Compared to the prices that Iscorama 36 go for these days, its probably worth it. I wonder what lens has a bayonet filter mount like that? -
Most of what you see is easily obtained from Chinese ebay sellers, except for the brass support ring which I got from the local chandlers. Some correct sized orings grip the scope securely and I needed to drill a hole in the riser for the 10mm hex bolt.
-
Opinions will vary regarding this. I just happen to fall into the group that believes a properly supported scope is best and opens up so many possiblities. http://www.eoshd.com/comments/topic/2398-my-compact-moeller-322x-rig-scope-on-a-rope/

I have one of these ISCO scopes. It says Cinemascope so I presume its 2x. Only thing is, I cant get the back lens off - I have taken out the little 1mm screw but the back lens wont budge. Its probably baked on from the heat of the projector lamp. They flare like crazy with a HID flashlight
