Very rare 1954 scope by Chrestien. Been sitting in a shed in France for 40 years and normally the grease gets solid like toffee, but with this one the grease has actually crystalised, wow! Anyway its undergoing a careful teardown for a lube and I found a ball race.... Looking forward to the super smooth focussing when its back to spec

Do you know of anyone using a zoom close up with these babies, like the old HOYA units back in the day - typically 1-10 diops of zoom They are cheap to buy so crap for stills but maybe useable for vids- 28 replies

First the good news The front element is a spherical element. Which means it is easier to replace. Looks like someone has tried to remove the coating using metal polish. I suggest take it to an optician who can remove it, test it and tell you the prescription. Then buy an equivalent from Edmund Optical. The rear element I have not seen, I suggest you shine light through and take photo for me to comment

Reported: I have reached a tipping point with the flame bait remarks and foul language consistently directed at me from this member and draw your attention to it

Not sure what you mean I am referring to the Takumar behind the Kowa as presented in the video - a more effective solution is the Sony E - OSS 1.8/50mm without need for LionsGate.
-
It reminds me of the intro to a Lionsgate movie BTW since he is using a Nex, all that is needed is the 1.8/50 auto focus lens at the rear and job done!

Made by Rathenower in GDR - never seen one - wondered what they look like
-
its a SK Cinemascope from the 90's, dioptr is a +1 from China
-
Shot with a 2/90mm at 1 metre, aperture reflections are consistent across the FOV

Seems to me that no one has come up with the correct answer so far..... :P

Do you know how to reroute the video feed from EOS Utility into VLC?

I am sure many have had their heads turned by the Metabones Speed Booster. Some of the many have wondered if this concept could be adapted to scopes. Out of respect for the two forums, rather than paste a link I have reproduced my info below. It doesn't mean anything but it might mean everything :P ============================================ JohnBar wrote: Hello Brian I completed an inquiry form at your website in connection with an anamorphic interest. 1 Did you get it? (I can resend if you did'nt) 2 Am I likely to get a response? best John I've been swamped by email lately, and yours may have been lost in the shuffle. Sorry. Anamorphic is something we are thinking about, but I can't say anything beyond that right now. _________________ Brian Caldwell

TCs are optimised for light flow in the 1.4x direction. To make them work in the 0.7x direction it is more that the simplicity of reversing the unit (which is only relevant for proof of concept), because the lenses have to be optimised for minimum aberration in the 0.7x direction. If you want to do private study in lens design an excellent book is 'An introduction to Lens Design with Practical Zemax Examples' by Joseph Geary. Zemax is not cheap (about $10k), but sometimes you can pick up an older and legitimate version on places like ebay.
